OT: Analyst armegedon

I have been getting tweets from Desmond Howard saying, "Phil Simms wants to hit me." According to Desmond, Phil is upset about Desmond saying that his son is one of the worst QB's in the SEC. He says that Phil is following him around the NFL Xperience, and he is about to hit him. I tweeted him to sell tickets and donate the money to Mott.

Maybe Dez is still feeling the effects of the Playboy party last night.  I know that always effects what I say the following day.

Matt Simms is confused by all of this attention.

Also, where is that pizza he ordered.  And, woah, like, does anyone else feel their heart beating really, really fast?

Contrary to recent MSM articles, which claim he was only injury prone early in his career, was injury prone throughout his NFL career (hello Jeff Hostetler). He's probably lucky that police stepped in.
<br>I can hear it now: "DOWN GOES SIMMS"!!!

Wow, I guess it's time for me to get a twitter account. Im sure Phil Simms has never said anything negative about a player before in his life. Why is what Desmond said any different? I dont care if that's your son or not, criticism comes with being a QB at a big time program. I wish Desmond would have whipped his ass.

Simms was the worst quarterback in the SEC in several categories, if I am not mistaken. Why would you want to hit a man for speaking the truth, especially when Vegas had that man winning by KO in the first round?

The larger question of the propriety of ripping college football players in that way is an interesting one. It has evolved a lot the last decade where they are treated a lot more like pros by the media. Ultimately it is big boy football for high stakes. These are the same kids parading around on signing day with increasingly elaborate press conference acts revealing their "decision".  They play to the news cycle and they benefit greatly from it when times are good.

Howard is well within his bounds offering an opinion like this. When Simms confronts him in this way, he actually forces informed fans like those on this board to lay down statistical bases for the opinion. This creates even more light on his son's poor play.

They need to pair Simms and Joe Buck up together to make a First String From Hell announcing crew and finally finish that industry debate about whether commentators actually affect ratings or not. If people would listen to those guys, they'd listen to anyone.

I think Texas fans agree about Phil Simms' behavior regarding his overrated quarterback sons (e.g. Major Applewhite's senior year). I can't believe he'd hold a grudge that long against Dez. What a prick.
