I'd put my money on Desmond. Phil was as brittle as they come in his playing days
February 5th, 2011 at 2:44 PM ^
Desmond looks like he keeps himself in good shape. Phil does probably have 20-30 lbs. on him though.
February 5th, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
Desmond still has that top end speed. speed is something phil never had.
February 5th, 2011 at 2:49 PM ^
are blowing up about this. A little surprised Desmond went about it the way he did. I'm glad though, because this is hilarious.
February 5th, 2011 at 3:09 PM ^
it gives people a reason to watch 10hours or more of pre-SuperBowl talkfest crap.
February 5th, 2011 at 2:54 PM ^
... in the wise, but grammatically exploratory , words 3RD FLO. At least we know Desmond can outrun Phil (get over it).
February 5th, 2011 at 2:54 PM ^
Work the body Desmond and the head will fall.
February 5th, 2011 at 3:01 PM ^
Maybe Dez is still feeling the effects of the Playboy party last night. I know that always effects what I say the following day.
February 5th, 2011 at 3:05 PM ^
His son is one of the worst QB's in the SEC...
February 5th, 2011 at 3:06 PM ^
Matt Simms is confused by all of this attention.
Also, where is that pizza he ordered. And, woah, like, does anyone else feel their heart beating really, really fast?
February 5th, 2011 at 3:12 PM ^
Additionally, if you want to watch Matt SImms be a total fucking tool:
February 5th, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
I fucking hate that kid. I hate that school, He thinks he's tough pulling that shit with my school, we're a lot tougher than those Ramsey kids. Way to be a disrespectful tool, Glad I wasn't there.
February 5th, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
That the police finally had to step in, and now it's over. He said "now I can get back to my fans."
February 5th, 2011 at 3:47 PM ^
Contrary to recent MSM articles, which claim he was only injury prone early in his career, was injury prone throughout his NFL career (hello Jeff Hostetler). He's probably lucky that police stepped in.
<br>I can hear it now: "DOWN GOES SIMMS"!!!
February 5th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
Wow, I guess it's time for me to get a twitter account. Im sure Phil Simms has never said anything negative about a player before in his life. Why is what Desmond said any different? I dont care if that's your son or not, criticism comes with being a QB at a big time program. I wish Desmond would have whipped his ass.
February 5th, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
Simms was the worst quarterback in the SEC in several categories, if I am not mistaken. Why would you want to hit a man for speaking the truth, especially when Vegas had that man winning by KO in the first round?
February 5th, 2011 at 4:19 PM ^
I'll take that wager!
February 5th, 2011 at 4:24 PM ^
Some of those responses on the profootballtalk page are...wow. I always wondered where those dudes that get into fights in the little league stands lurk, but I think I just found them.
February 5th, 2011 at 4:03 PM ^
Who the hell is Phil Simms and where the hell does his son (whoever the hell that is) play?
Serious question.
February 5th, 2011 at 4:10 PM ^
Phil Simms is an analyst and former New York Giants QB.
His son was, until Tyler Bray came along, the starting QB at Tennessee.
February 5th, 2011 at 4:13 PM ^
Here is Phil in ACTION......
February 5th, 2011 at 4:31 PM ^
This is how I always saw Phil.....
February 5th, 2011 at 7:25 PM ^
John Navarre? Is that you?
February 5th, 2011 at 4:22 PM ^
Thank you, kind sir.
I looked up his stats and find it funny that he had a 2-6 record as the starter, and the other guy won 4 straight games.
February 5th, 2011 at 5:00 PM ^
Glad to help.
You're right - it is funny what a change of QB can do to a team.
February 5th, 2011 at 4:13 PM ^
"Once a douchebag, ..."
February 5th, 2011 at 5:25 PM ^
I wish Desmond would whip his ass right now.
February 5th, 2011 at 6:23 PM ^
This is turning into professional wrestling (no not rassling).
February 5th, 2011 at 7:04 PM ^
ass Dez, just kick his ass.
February 5th, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
The larger question of the propriety of ripping college football players in that way is an interesting one. It has evolved a lot the last decade where they are treated a lot more like pros by the media. Ultimately it is big boy football for high stakes. These are the same kids parading around on signing day with increasingly elaborate press conference acts revealing their "decision". They play to the news cycle and they benefit greatly from it when times are good.
Howard is well within his bounds offering an opinion like this. When Simms confronts him in this way, he actually forces informed fans like those on this board to lay down statistical bases for the opinion. This creates even more light on his son's poor play.
February 5th, 2011 at 10:17 PM ^
And that would be the first time somebody named Simms has hit a receiver in a loooooooong time.
February 5th, 2011 at 10:27 PM ^
They need to pair Simms and Joe Buck up together to make a First String From Hell announcing crew and finally finish that industry debate about whether commentators actually affect ratings or not. If people would listen to those guys, they'd listen to anyone.
February 6th, 2011 at 12:47 AM ^
I think Texas fans agree about Phil Simms' behavior regarding his overrated quarterback sons (e.g. Major Applewhite's senior year). I can't believe he'd hold a grudge that long against Dez. What a prick.
February 6th, 2011 at 10:28 AM ^
Note to Phil:
Every player you criticize has a parent somewhere. Get over it.
