OT: American Football Coach, Coaching Soccer [video]

Submitted by rederik on

Turns out this is about a year old, but it showed up in my facebook today and gave me a pretty hearty laugh.

Jason Sudeikis plays the stereotypical American football coach, out of his element, perfectly.

Given that this blog has a pretty big cross-section of football fandom (obviously) and soccer followers as well, and the timing with the World Cup coverage, I thought this would be worth sharing for a quick laugh for everyone.

This was NBC's add when they acquired the Premier League a couple years ago.

It's matched by a video -- I can't find it, someone else post? -- of an English announcer pretending to be covering the super bowl, when it's really a college football game.  Outrageously funny.  On a fake handoff to the running back:  "He shows him the ball but the chap doesn't want it" (or somethign like that).  So the yuck-yucks go both ways.

"Manchester United. uper rich, everybody either loves them or hates them."

"Dallas Cowboys"

"Liverpool. Used to be really good, haven't won a title in a really long time"

"Also Dallas Cowboys"

Apologies to Cowboys fans on the blog, but I did laugh out loud there.

My youth team was coached by a football coach for a few years and we beat everyone because we ran them all over and were in better condition than other teams. With that said, though, we stopped winning when we reached the age when finesse because a larger part of the equation.

As a Tottenham fan I both love and hate it, love because they used my team, hate because it shows Gareth Bale still as a Spur and I miss that Welsh magician.
