OT: America The Story Of US

Submitted by MaizeMN on

It's July 4, so I figure this may be OT/OK. Pretty cool series on History 2.

Been on the band of brothers marathon myself. Generation kill right after. Two of HBO's best mini series. As much of an obnoxious ass i and others can be around here i wouldn't trade you asses for any other fans on the planet. Happy bday Merica. Go Blue!

Hair length usually pushes my buttons. Especially, when it is blatantly just pulled back behind the ears. That and when a premise is just too farfetched like in “Undersiege”, as a marine, when have ever been to sea that they haven’t off-loaded weapons prior to returning to homeport or a stand-down.

I'd highly recommend One Bullet Away. It's the autobiography of the Lieutenant who led Bravo in Generation Kill. He's an insanely intelligent person (three Ivy degrees) and was one of the first in action after 9/11 and in Iraq, obviously. Great stories and great thoughts. He's going to be a big deal in the future, IMO.

Fruity Rudy! He had a small one off show on Discovery last year also. He taught urban survival. Not sure if its still on air or not? He did a great job on GKill.

My favorite shows are the ones who portray our Armed Forces as real and kickass as possible. HBO does the best mini series.

It's not very patriotic, but I've been non-stop watching the Twilight Zone marathon on Syfy since it started at 8am. Greatest show ever.

Maybe I should switch to HBO.....I am watching the Tigers on a stream.  The 7th inning stretch just happened and the guy singing God Bless America was great...until he totally flubbed the last word Home....sounded like his voice gave out...poor guy lol.

My high school history teacher showed us that entire series. It took like a month. I kept thinking, "You're getting paid to do this?" He was one of those History/PE teacher/coach/AD types. Wasn't a good teacher, so I definitely learned more from the videos than I ever did from him. Still pissed me off.

Was stationed @ MCRD-Parris Island, SC when “The Civil War” was aired. It was awesome being in/near places that were mentioned. Made for some very interesting weekend trips to experience historical sites while the series was airing. Especially, Beaufort and Savannah with Sherman’s March.
