This has been a really strange recruitment. Alex Anzalone flipped to Florida today and will enroll early, apparently due to Brian Kelly interviewing with the Eagles.
national champs baby
You two could have a future in film.
The Team, The Team, The Team.
It's hard to feel bad for a kid who is going to get a scholly to play at a school where the co-eds have long had a reputation as some of the most gorgeous and available at any college in the US.
I know this is really selfish, but I am sorta hoping for Kelly's NFL dalliance to cause a meltdown at ND. Maybe Anzalone is the first of many who will revisit their decisions before NSD.
One of the shittiest weeks for Notre Dame in a while continues. I am enjoying it.
Practice makes perfect. Unless you're the Buckeyes. Then you have to cheat.
I'm not sure Florida, even with their coach in place, is a better spot right now compared to ND.
OH-HOW-I-HATE OHIO STATE
When I read his last name quickly, the first thing I cognitively put together is, "Anal-zone". Regardless, love this ND shadenfreud.
I feel bad for the running backs who have to run through the anal-zone to get to the end zone.

Seems strangely the same to me. Talk about no-no zones.
Never forget our Vets!! Some gave all, all gave some!
I'll just go ahead and keep this Charles Eric Waugh joke to myself. Nothing to see here, mods.
Brian Kelly interviews for another job, leaves the country on a vacation and his players wake up to him possibly leaving ND. I wouldn't doubt it if a couple other recruits do the same thing.

Could be but the ND folks have been expecting this one for a while now actually. It's apparently been a real strange recruitment.
is it still the dead period? why would coach who is staying at a school leave for vacation 1 month before signing day? he's gotta be gone because if he was invested in ND he would be on the road still working on this class
Soon to be the #1 fitness and training center in AA
Jaylon Smith come on down.
'Try growing up in Texas a Michigan WOLVERINE'.
Was he (Jaylon Smith) even considering Michigan???
Not as far as I know. His brother is at Ohio and he didn't want to he on the other side of the rivalry.
I'm not sure that this had a whole lot to do with Kelly interviewing with the Eagles. I think it was Mike Farrell about a month or two ago, who said he would be shocked if Anzalone didn't end up flipping to Florida. It sounds like this was months in the making.
Really? I was think more like an Artic Fox or a Pelican.
Maybe some kind of egret?
Come on, Jaylon Smith!!!
edit: Meant to be a response to TNWolverine
Brian Kelly has a first name as a last name. Dont trust him.

What movie/show is that from?
Disgruntled former moderator. I got a lot of problems with you people!

Glad we didn't go too hard after this kid, first of all.
Second, we better pray Jaylon Smith stays with ND...otherwise, his #2 is OSU.

Wasn't there some rumor about this happening back in November right after he committed to ND?
"The goal, the expectation of this program is the Big Ten Championship"
Seems a little odd to decommit from ND and then suddenly enroll early at Florida. He's had to have been thinking about this for a while.
According to a Rivals article from late October, he actually had filled out the early enrollment paperwork at Florida once before, so he was almost gone from ND previously already. After this, of course, as Alligator Army notes, he subsequently reaffirmed his commitment to ND, and now this, of course. Very odd recruitment indeed.

I dont remember where I read this, but Michigan turned Anzalone down for a visit. We were full at LB and were only willing to take Levenberry. Thank goodness. He sure Jordan Payton'ed OSU, and ND.

You probably read it here, but I don't know what other sites you visit.
I liked Anzalone's film at all and wish we'd taken a longer look at him, especially considering we seem to be fishing for another LB now. But oh well, as you said, it might've not been worth the time and hassle as he seems to have had something of a dramatic recruiting process (from the outside).
Avatar is a reference to this. Go Blue!
His dad and mom both graduated from Florida IIRC, so it's not a total surprise he would wind up there.

What every longshot, come from behind, underdog will tell ya is this... The other guy, may in fact, be the favorite. The odds may be stacked against you, fair enough. But what the odds don't know is...this isn't a math test.
I almost feel bad for the kid.
