This is the right thing to bitch about, you can't throw 3 straight curves in the same spot in one AB. Bury it with 2 strikes and maybe you get the swing and miss, but certainly don't hang it up in the zone.
OT: ALCS Game 6 Open Thread
I'm pretty sure Leyland already tried this...and it didn't work before. Shocked it didn't work this time
More postseason RBI in one swing than our 23 million dollar man has in his tiger career.
He isn't the one who paid Prince Fielder $220 million or assembled the worst bullpen of all the playoff teams.
Make no mistake this is on Dave Dombroski.
How the fuck is Coke still in MLB??
Coke....but u would think he would be with Texas
Is undefeated at home.
DB did this!
Well, you know the season is over when Phil Coke comes in. 5 runs, 5 hits for Boston. 2 runs, 7 hits for the Tigers. That mis-called 4th ball on Boegarts was costly.
Agree. Max may have stayed in and pitched out of it.
This is hoarse shite.
Gonna run the series.
Fucking awesome we're probably never gonna see Sherzer and Verlander on the same team again. Too bad the bats couldn't put it away for them time and time again.
Fucking awesome we're probably never gonna see Sherzer and Verlander on the same team again.
Umm... you will next year.
I know some don't want to hear it, but I think Leyland is back if he wants to be.
God I hate everything about Boston so fucking Much except for Brady.
Sit down Prince you fat overpaid ass clown.
Scherzer is soft. They should have to drag him off the mound kicking and screaming. Ship his ass for a closer
You are literally too stupid to insult.
He's our 3rd best starter
You're an idiot. That's the nicest way I can put it.
Keep taking up for prince, guy
Yeah, I said you can't blame Prince for breaking home on a ground ball with 0 outs and the contact play on. Then Martinez ran into an out.
Apparently, me pointing that out is some kind of sin.
Whatever. I never defended Prince's shitty ABs. You, on the other hand, clearly know jack shit about baseball.
I hope you're just shitfaced right now.
Any pitcher that asks to be taken out of the game is soft. Period.
Keep distorting the facts.
That didn't happen tonight genius. And so what? If he thinks he's gonna do more hark than good then he's being responsible. He's a human not a machine.
I didn't say it happened tonight.
Your version of reality is completely distorted.
Scherzer didn't act like a baby on the mound so he's soft? I seem to remember him getting us out of horrid situations before. Maybe Jimmy should have just left him in?
Comment of the thread, by far.
I pretty much agree
Call it a night man
Horseshit inconsistent umping, too.
This series is an all-time epic choke job. How you can lose a series when your starting pitchers practically throw you 5 games of 1 run or less ball is just sickening.
Fielder should refund his salary to charity. He's hardly the only one not producing, but the Tigers could have gotten more production out of playing Don Kelly at first base all postseason than Fielder. At least Kelly plays defense while grounding out to 2nd base every time.
We can get the current Fielder to run up obscene gambling debt to the Detroit casinos and an "unfortunate accident" occurs that costs Prince his thumbs?
Are we just doing their fielding practice for the WS? Seriously.
Why did Bruce have to get hurt.
Not to mention Rondon had a higher ERA than Veras, Smyly and Benoit.
Probably not, but man his stuff looked good the last game he was in before he was hurt.
upgrade the bullpen.Depending upon a rookie and then trying to make up for it with Valverde, Veras, and Benoit was a huge mistake.
The Tigers are at a crossroads. They probably will losr Scherzer after the 14' if they don't trade him by then and they still are stuck with the ten ton stone called Prince Fielder's contract. They will lose VMart and Peralta as well.
Fielder's contract is just awful.
Lumping him in with Valverde is BS. One grand slam doesn't change the fact that he had a good year overall.
I do agree with the overall sentiment though, they should have tried to do more by the deadline in addition to acquiring Veras. Thought they could have taken a gamble on Brian Wilson before LA did, for example.
The bullpen debacle is fair criticism on Dombrowski, but it also doesn't help that Villarreal became a huge liability, Coke disappeared after a fantastic postseason, Dotel's elbow finally exploded, and Rondon didn't make the leap as quick as we all had hoped.
He should have gotten another LOOGY though, once it became clear that Coke was going to be generally awful.
