benoit has had a great year. and he did go get veras who has been solid and added depth. leyland just screwed up this inning by over-managing again.

The fact is that the man failed to address the Tigers chief weakness this past offseason. He placed his faith on a rookie and when that failed he attempted to patch with Veras and Benoit. It has blown up in his face in these playoffs.

you can always blame players for not executing. but i posted when he brought smyly in that i would save him for ortiz if necessary. he didn't and it backfired. i also would have brought scherzer out for the 8th. only 108 pitches and he was still rolling.
