OT: Advice for playing M v UCONN torrent
I just finished downloading Saturday's game (found here: http://bigtentracker.com/torrents.php?id=58&torrentid=101) and I'm having trouble playing it back smoothly.
I am able to play it, but it's very choppy due to the high res. My questions are:
1. I'm using VLC to play it back. Is there a different program that might help?
2. Are there any tricks to help smooth it out? I know a new video card would help but are there any simpler tricks I can try? My laptop is less than a year old so I assumed it would handle the HD file, but I guess I was wrong. Is there some way to de-sample the file?
Any pointers would be appreciated.

That worked perfectly. You are a life-saver. Thank you.

Can knock it down to an .mpg or .avi to help with smooth playback issues. It will still look good but just a little less clear and will save some hard drive space.

I had the same problem.
Go Tools>>Preferences
Then hit "All" under Show Settings
Goto Codecs>>Video Codecs>>FFmpeg
In the box next to "Skip the loop filter for H.264 decoding", select "All"
That did the trick for me.

Had this problem last year with another MKV file, change the settings and you're all set.

VLC doesn't use hardware acceleration. As RCM said above, use MPC-HC which has hardware acceleration.

I would give it a try with Media Player Classic before making any changes to the file - might play smoother than VLC.
EDIT: Just noticed others made the same suggestion
