I'm not a fan of Burrish, but that is some grade A trash talking. I can think of 6 teams that he won't be welcome to join any time in the near future. I hope Canadians don't take this kind of thing too seriously. I think most Americans rag on Canada in the same way you rag on your best friends.

that claims to care so little about hockey, there seems to be an inordinate amount of press after the loss to Canada to the effect of 'oh well, we didn't really care anyways.' Lame. It was a big game for both countries and a great game. Why are Americans so reluctant to say they like hockey? I don't think Burrish or OP understand the little brother comment, if anything, the US would be Canada's little brother in hockey...ie team that does not have tradition, passion, fan base, and should seemingly be less talented etc...

The comment was made in regards to everything. Canada is our little brother in literally everything that they do besides curling and hockey. I think that you misunderstood the point he was making that "if we wanted to try we could be really sweet at hockey so don't forget it". And frankly it was a huge game for the US and US hockey in general but let's be realistic Hockey is maybe the 5th-7th most watched "sport" in the US and has a very niche market of mostly northern (near Canada where it's cold) states.

Burish is just talking smack to his own teammates and the local media. Here's the prelude to the linked story above: http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/blackhawks/post/_/id/4662089/hawks-enga… “If the U.S. wins, I’m going to have this place [locker room] decorated red, white, and blue,” Burish said after practice on Saturday. “I’m going to have balloons. I’m going to have streamers and flags. I’ll decorate this place pretty good and rub it in everyone’s face.” Article goes on to say his roommate (Sharp) is Canadian, and all they did over the break is mess with each other about hockey/canada/the US. In that sense, no he's not like Hart, Hart did it to piss off someone else. If Burish said this kind of stuff about the wings/sharks/whatever or if he was on the US team, it would be different but he didnt play in the game, he's just talking smack locally. That said, (disclaimer: native Chicagoan, big hockey fan/player... and don't hate, the wings have beat us forever) Go Hawks
