so much for that
OT: Per Ace's twitter, Anzalone to Ohio
Similar player to Gedeon. Both are very good. Gedeon brings a lot to the table off the field, so I'm more than happy with our commit.
From Anzalone's extensive video, I got the sense that he's a jack of all trades. From everything I've heard about Gedeon from all the experts, I've heard the same thing (both play LB and RB). Wish there was more video of Gedeon to confirm this myself.

Touche/Sold.
Thought I had already seen all of his videos. I can't wait for Mattison to get his hands on him.

In one day Ohio picks up commits in two different sports that were turned away by Michigan.
Here is to hoping neither of them come back to bite us. I was upset when Hoke and co backed off Alex...
I'll give you the hoops commit, but don't be telling me Michigan "turned away" Anzalone as if he was trying to commit and Hoke said "nope, we're full."
Respect the Rivalry
But I believe he was told they were full and he shouldn't visit, similar to Dorian O'Daniel.
Correct. Anzalone had a visit to Ann Arbor scheduled, and it was canceled because he was told Michigan was full at LB. At the time, he listed Michigan as one of his top choices.
But you imply that Michigan actually would have got him when you state that he was "turned away." It's also hard to say that you're full at linebacker when they are now pursuing Levenberry.
I know this guy has low credibility around here but a few of you know that he is often right. Here is a tweet from RivalsMike earlier: "nope, he always told me #OhioState was tops“@WolverineViper:@rivalsmike they led after Michigan told him that they were full. Get real...”"
Respect the Rivalry
"Turned away" means he wanted to come here for a visit and we said "don't bother" because we no longer had a scholarship for him. The coaches liked Levenberry enough that they told him a had a scholly waiting for him when he decided...apparently they didn't think highly enough of Anzalone to offer the same thing.
Maybe you are used to coaches turning guys away when they want to commit, but Hoke doesn't opperate that way. He doesn't let it get to the point of someone saying "I'm in" before saying "sorry, but we don't want you". He is up front with recruits and they know where they stand with him.
It's a novel concept in Buckeye land...living with integrity!
Having the number 1 recruiting class means nothing without good coaches to mold the players into champions!
I was very high on Anzalone and was very disappointed when we stopped recruiting him. Ohio is getting a really good football player. I love his toughness. We're going to make sure he's blocked when we face them in a few years.

It would have been nice if Anzalone had gone somewhere else, since he had offers from pretty much any school a football player would want offers from, including B1G schools like PSU, MSU, Purdue, and NW. He also had ND, Bama, Florida, Georgia, and USC - who I thought had been reported as his one time leader.
Anzalone is a beast, I've seen his tape and the kid can fly. I Trust the coaching staff knows something we dont. I was hoping he went to PSU, no dice.
'Try growing up in Texas a Michigan WOLVERINE'.
Our recruiting class is still better.
903 wins most in college football
For now. Don't lie to yourself, Ohio State is going to end up with a damn strong class. Maybe not as good only because they should end up with a smaller class, but they aren't going to sign scrubs.

Shhhh. Let him savor the moment. Lying to yourself is essential to the sports fan experience.
You got all that from his line. I think they will end up with a really good class, but he didnt say anything wrong for now.
"For now.... Don't lie to yourself... Only because..."
Yeah, because we don't look to be the favorite for the top class in the country or anything. Unless the bottom drops out we should be a lock for a top 3 spot.
"Let him savor the moment. Lying to yourself is essential to the sports fan experience."
For Michigan fans it usually seems to involve convincing yourself things are much worse than the evidence suggests. A defense mechanism I suppose... Or a misconception that it makes you more logical because you're above the bias.
In reality it's just wet blanket-ism.
Going to be a pretty serious battle for top class in the Big 10.
There is no time, sir, at which ties do not matter.
Where are you hearing Bosa committed too? Bosa+Anzalone would be HUGE for Ohio..
Yep Bosa just committed according to twitter. We knew that though. Isnt he the one who made a comment about "visiting that school up north?" Oh well. Cant win them all.
THOSE WHO STAY WILL BE CHAMPIONS
Where's the link to Bosa committing. I don't see anything about a commitment on his twitter.
Campaign manager--Hoke 2012.
Mike Farrell tweeted that Bosa "might very well have commited" to Ohio.
Some solid journalism there.
He is half-analyst, half-therapist.

World's first. Even has a business card for it.
This is the way it should be Ohio ans Michigan head to head for thr B1G and in recruiting. History is repeating itself gents.
'Try growing up in Texas a Michigan WOLVERINE'.
Bosa will go to Ohio. He says its between us and them, I read somewhere before his visit that he tweeted 'headed to that school up north' or something like that. Kinda of a dick move.
'Try growing up in Texas a Michigan WOLVERINE'.
He tweeted he was "headed to that place up North" and that he didnt want to leave Columbus. He is a perfect fit for that program.
Joey Bosa's dad married his Dolphins teammate Eric Kumerow's sister. Kumerow went to Ohio, and I think his sister (Joey's mom) both have Ohio ties.
Check out these links. The internet is an amazing place.

Dolphins fans are not big fans of Kumerow and Bosa who both ended up being busts in the NFL:

Bosa, Kumerow, and Kumerow's sister (Bosa's future wife) were charged with assault of a police officer in a brawl in Ft Lauderdale:
Damn, this is a 16-year-old kid and you are dragging his mom into this? Not cool, man. Recruits read forums.
Where in his post does he say anything negative about his parents?
But added the other links just because I found them interesting. How did I drag his mother into it? Did I say anything disparaging about her? Everything in my post was fact.
You posted a picture of his parents at an exotic dancing competition - something that has literally nothing to do with anything. Sure, it's a fact that it exists - but it doesn't make it appropriate. If you can't see why, then this isn't a discussion worth continuing.
It's not like a shared a private picture. This picture is on the internet for the world to see. If they had a problem with it, they would have contacted the dancer who posted it to take it down. If you search for John Bosa's pictures on Google, it is one of the first ones that comes up.
You're talking about the opinion of an Ohio fan. Of course it's perceived as you dragging his mom into this, and you're a horrible person for doing so. This is one problem with the posts about other commits, the Ohio lurkers on mgoblog start posting stuff like that. It's the only time they post, some even pretend to be Michigan fans.
I think the only other school that really had a chance was Florida.
Also don't be shocked when Joey Bosa (Mom and her brother who played for Ohio both have Ohio ties) and Mike Heuerman (brother on Ohio FB team) commit to Ohio in the next week or so. I had pretty much already penciled these guys into their class. The only guys I am following on Ohio's radar are Jaylon Smith, Ethan Pocic, & Laquon Treadwell. Those guys are truly in play and could go anywhere. But even Jaylon Smith's brother is currently on Ohio's FB team. If they lose Smith, that would be a huge loss for Ohio.
But Anzalone had similar rankings to McCray and Gedeon. Just like Michigan, Ohio is going to get good players (only Rich Rod could screw that up); it's only the true head to head recruiting that catches my attention.

In case someone was asleep and didn't know who Anzalone was, he's a LB from Pennsylvania considered one of the top 5-10 LB's in the country.
