OT - Accuscore

Submitted by mgokev on

So, do any mgogamblers out there use accuscore or other computer program to bet?  Accuscore looks pretty detailed, and from what I remember from last years NFL season, it was more accurate in predicting the outcome of games than the panel of experts.  I want to say it was around 75%.

Does anyone use this or a similar program to bet?  Is it actually profitable to do so?

Never used accuscore, but my rule of thumb is: if there was some proven method to make money gambling, nobody would work a job. Why would you ever work if you could take your first $1000 and just use accuscore (or another program) to turn it into millions?

The same applies to stock brokers (if they can really make you "tons" of money in the stock market, why are they working for you and not just investing their own money).

The same also applies to diet pills. If pills could really make you skinny at any type of reasonable price (talking about the dozens of pills advertised around $50 a bottle or something) then there would be no fat people.

If something seems easy, it doesnt work.

I think it is unlikely that any statistical analysis tool could help you "beat" vegas because that would require Vegas to be setting lines based on an inferior tool.  And my hunch is that those in the business of setting lines are always on the lookout to make sure they are using the very best models available.  If it's out there, Vegas is using it too.

The only real advantage I think is inside information.  You know the best player's injury is worse than publicly reported, you know a team's game-plan will be to slow the game down, etc.  Unless you are close friends with a team's coach or involved in organized crime, though, I think it is hard to employ inside information as a general strategy for betting.

Yeah, I know there isn't a fool proof way to gamble, I suppose I was thinking more along the ideas of using stat analysis programs to help hedge your bets across a whole season of betting.  Or possibly using it for parlays and picking the best statistical odds at winning?

Just wondering if there was actually any correlation between odds given through a program like accuscore, and the likelihood of actually winning that bet, and if that is the case, then using a program like that to hedge your parlays, etc may be beneficial?
