OT: Absolute Favorite Bottled Beer?
On the cusp of another St. Patty's Day filled with drunken debauchery...or, more accurately, workplace drudgery with no hint of inebriation, I was thinking about what is my absolute favorite beer.
I've been drinking Sam Adams almost exclusively. I went through an IPA and Rye-PA kick last fall, but I'm into mellower and crisper (word?) brews right now.
I know my vote right now would be for Sam Adams Black Lager.

I'd have to go with Bell's Two Hearted Ale.
March 16th, 2010 at 10:28 PM ^
lock it.
March 16th, 2010 at 10:39 PM ^
Two Hearted is easily my favorite IPA, favorite beer, favorite everything.
March 16th, 2010 at 11:18 PM ^
Stone IPA is a close second
March 17th, 2010 at 12:32 PM ^
I'll have to check this brand out.
you have to try Two-Hearted Ale.
Their seasonal Hopslam is awesome as well.

I really enjoy the Cherry Stout, though
...it would be Red Stripe (not the imported version).

I had Bass Ale with steak and kidney pie Saturday as our St Pats night out. (We cannot go out Thurs because 3 kids under 11)
Heaven.
March 16th, 2010 at 10:31 PM ^
Bass is absolutely my drink of choice out of the tap, but not out of the bottle. It's different somehow.
March 17th, 2010 at 12:34 PM ^
this was my favorite. I can't pass the beer aisle and see it without getting good vibrations :)

Yuengling
March 16th, 2010 at 10:30 PM ^
I was a bouncer/bartender at a party last year, and there were three kegs: Budweiser, Yuengling, and Miller Light.
People were actually pissed off when only the Yuengling was left.
I was confused.
March 16th, 2010 at 11:10 PM ^
Yuengling gets my vote too. Along with Coors Original. The light is good but I'm a man. I don't go for the light stuff that often. I also like Rouge mom hefeweizen
March 17th, 2010 at 11:10 AM ^
anytime. Not big into the flavored beers, i.e Blue Moon and all that stuff
Yuengling is the best. It's just too bad you can't get it anywhere in Michigan.
March 17th, 2010 at 10:14 AM ^
I go to Nashville each April to visit friends and run in the 1/2 marathon. Before I leave town I grab a couple of cases to take back.
March 16th, 2010 at 10:28 PM ^
The root beer...right?
That is seriously good stuff.
March 16th, 2010 at 10:30 PM ^
Heck yes.
March 16th, 2010 at 10:38 PM ^
The Black Cherry is great as well.
March 16th, 2010 at 10:27 PM ^
But Bell's Oberon is also very good, (actually, anything by Bell's is very good).
March 16th, 2010 at 10:30 PM ^
When drinking Stella, I'd think the necessary equipment would be...well...necessary.
So, do you have a stemmed-goblet glass with a golden rim?
March 16th, 2010 at 11:59 PM ^
But, I know what you're talking about. I used to work for Belgians. Every Belgian beer - not just each brewery - has its own glass. Its impressive, considering that such a small country has hundreds of beers.
March 16th, 2010 at 10:35 PM ^
is so much better out of the tap though. I almost typed it but it's not half as good bottled.
I really really really miss Oberon come springtime. It is definitely one of my favorite beers and it isn't distributed anywhere near me.
Sad.

Goose Island 312
March 16th, 2010 at 11:08 PM ^
Not to start a debate or anything, but 312 is one beer that seems to be vastly overrated IMO. Nothing about it really stood out I guess. Most of my friends like it though so what do I know?
March 16th, 2010 at 11:31 PM ^
If you haven't already tried it, I'd recommend Honker's Ale as well.
by far my favorite wheat, I'm from chicago (home vote, i know) but its just so good, it blows Blue Moon out of the water in my opinion.
Also get your hands on a Matilda if you get a chance

Pyramid's Curveball. It's a seasonal. And it got me through the ND game last year.
March 16th, 2010 at 11:36 PM ^
When I was in Seattle, I convinced my boss to get a couple kegs of curveball for a work party. Best work party ever.

Franziskaner
March 16th, 2010 at 10:57 PM ^
Awesome call there. I like how even the caps have the little monk on it.
March 16th, 2010 at 11:17 PM ^
Very good and not as well known as it should be.
March 17th, 2010 at 12:10 AM ^
I have a Franziskaner glass that I brought home from Oktoberfest a couple years ago. Of the many German Hefeweizen that exist, this one ranks at least in the top 3 for me (Paulaner and Schneider are probably the other two).
Franziskaner is also the beer of choice at the annual German Park fest that takes place 3 times each summer north of Ann Arbor. I'm already counting the days...

sam adams boston lager
March 16th, 2010 at 10:36 PM ^
Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. I dunno if it's my favorite, but it's way up there, and as advertised on the box, made with Michigan cherries.
March 16th, 2010 at 10:56 PM ^
That beer is simply flawless. It isn't as magically delicious as some of Sam's other offerings, but it is scientifically proven to be flawless. I don't remember the research method, but it is conclusive, trust me.
I would also highly recommend Sam's Boston Ale. It is similarly flawless but bolder and bigger, on account of it being an ale.
Gulp-tastic!!
March 16th, 2010 at 10:41 PM ^
I don't drink anymore, but when I did I especially loved the Sam Adams Boston Lager. I also was a huge fan of the White Ale. Alas I liked the brews a bit too much and now refrain from drinking.
March 17th, 2010 at 12:41 PM ^
Makes me proud to be an American, hehe!
March 16th, 2010 at 10:35 PM ^
Mainstream beer... Heineken Light... it just goes down smoothly.
I also like ice cold Sol too. I'd throw Leffe blond, or others, but I typically like them off the tap better.
March 16th, 2010 at 10:35 PM ^
I'm partial to Founder's pale ale right now, and as airvipermb pointed out yuengling is the shiznat
March 16th, 2010 at 10:35 PM ^
Victory Prima Pils
I've personally met Dick Yuengling many times. Unfortunately, he's a Nit fan.
On a side note, over the Christmas season I was really into Tommyknockers Maple Nut Brown Ale. Can't recommend enough.
Very nice, it's my favorite draft beer personally. I picked up a case of Tommknockers about a month ago, my favorite from the bunch was the butthead bock.
March 16th, 2010 at 10:36 PM ^
Not available now though...another thing I have to wait for until this fall...
March 16th, 2010 at 10:37 PM ^
the one in my hand
March 16th, 2010 at 10:40 PM ^
I've never had any luck with the one in your hand.
(was that dirty?)
