there are actually a couple o-line men rated that high warmack and joeckel are rated that high, i'd like warmack but would rather trade down because there is depth at d-end and no corners/safties worth the #5 pick. Hopefully somebody goes full retard for a QB and wants to trade up

Jarvis Jones seems to be the name that's getting batted around the most. I think that would be a smart choice. Otherwise, find someone to trade down with(not very likely, but the new rookie salary moves make it at least plausible) and go for Milliner.

into this one poor performance by Teo. If people recall one Peyton Manning had an absolutely atrocious end to his career: 21-31 for 131 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. If we took the thought process people are using on Teo and applied it to Manning we would have to argue that Manning ought to have slipped into the 2nd round.
The NFL does not judge a player off of one performance. They use the players entire career as well as his physical traits to project how good a player he will be. Teo is going to be a damn fine player for whomever drafts him.

His showing yesterday won't effect his draft status that much, because he wasn't a top ten (probably 20) pick to begin with. Good player but he has limitations, it was his team (particularly this year) his character and story that carried him to the top of heisman lists and mock drafts. But he was never going to be drafted that high.

Trade down and try to grab as many DBs and LBs we can. If we did this and somehow managed to get Milliner and Ertz, I would be thrilled.

For the Lions first Pick @ #5 i would take Damontre Moore, DE/OLB, Texas A&M
second pick @ # 36 I would take Barret Jones, G/C/OT, Alabama if he is still available then with my third pick @ #65 I would take a huge gamble and jump on Tyrann Mathieu, CB, LSU He is a huge gamble but without a number 4 pick he could come in help out right away and also be a kick returner to replace Logan.

Moore would be a perfect fit. Jones is going to be good player and he fits what the Lions want.(versatility). However, I would prefer a S or OLB there. The Lions really need defensive playmakers at every level. Hopefully, they can get some help in free agency.

If the Lions draft like that, Stafford will be a bloody stump in a year or two.
Backus was only ever an average LT, and now he's old and breaking down.
Gosder is flat out terrible.
Reiff couldn't beat out either of those two guys, and no, LTs do not need a year of seasoning to sit and watch and learn.
Raiola's only problem used to be that he was undersized, now he's undersized and old as hell.
Peterman and Sims are both below average to bad.
The Lions do not have one single plus offensive lineman on their roster. Adrian Peterson would struggle to run the ball behind this offensive line. It's not something that the Lions can continue to ignore.
Yes, the Lions need pass rushers. Yes, the Lions need secondary help. However, if they keep ignoring this problem, they'll also need to find a new franchise quarterback, and Calvin's career will go the way of Larry Fitzgerald's.

I'd rather shore up other areas. Bells fits that fine for now. How much long does Burelson have? Titus Young is off the team probably. OL needs help, we need a DE, OLB, and everything in the secondary besides Houston needs to go.

Trade back and draft a bunch of offensive lineman.
Doesn't matter how great your secondary and pass rush are if Matt Stafford is knocked out of the league because your aging and underperforming O-Line couldn't protect him.
That absolutely has to be their number one concern going into the offseason.
We already have a good MLB and MLB is one of the least valuable positions in football anyway, so taking one with the 5th pick would be a huge mistake.

I don't care who they pick or how high he is on someone's board. I don't care if the experts say they took the right guy or if they had a great draft. Whoever they take will not work out and will not help them. They are hopeless. But I will watch them anyway.

Take Chance Warmack at 5 and Barrett Jones in the 2nd. Take some DBs and maybe a DE after that. This team needs a running game, they have two solid power backs but don't have the oline to support a consistent running game. If they aren't able to run the ball and keep up this pass-happy offense with the current oline Stafford is not going to last as long as we want him to.

I'm not sure trading down is going to be that easy.
If there is really someone available at #5 that is worth so much that a team is going to trade a bundle to the Lions to move up to get him, then the Lions probably need that player. But I just don't see that happening. Not the kind of mega-trade-up deal that the Lions would need to make it worth it.
For it to be worth it, the Lions would need to be in a situation like last year where they were in position to get Luck or RGIII. THEN they could trade down for a king's ransome and stock up on a ton of solid players. I don't see anyone being available at #5 this year that is going to be worth a ton. But who knows--maybe after the combine things will change?

It might not be that hard to trade down. Teams are more likely to trade into the top 5 to grab a guy like Julio Jones who isn't necessarily a franchise changer but still an elite prospect. The fact that they don't have to pay them like they did before the new rookie wage scale greatly reduces the risk of taking a guy in the top 5.

After watching Teo play against a pro team Monday night he's more of 2nd round pick to me. I would trade down a bit and take Milner from Alabama, than try to get Jones from Alabama than whoever from Alabama was left I would draft :-).

I think the Lions are going with Moore with the 5th pick whether anyone here wants them to or not. Which isn't a bad pick, it's just the problem of needing other things too. But, you can't solve all of the Lions problems in one draft. You can do a good job though at filling some needs in this draft. This is how I'd draft if I were to pick for the Lions:
1st round: Moore
2nd round: Barrett Jones(yes he should be available)(If not, you go Lane Johnson or Dallas Thomas here)
3rd round: Travis Frederick(can play both guard positions and center)
Yes, you take both Frederick and Jones as they could swap between 3 positions each. You definitely take Frederick if you can't get Jones. Most people I've seen projecting Travis have said he'll go right after Detroit in the 3rd round. Detroit can't afford to pass him up. Obviously you don't address all the needs this way, but you also get help for your QB. You go from a terrible line to a semi-better but much younger one. You would have Reiff, Jones, and Frederick, plus obviously 2 others. With their versatility, you can find what line-up works best.
As far as secondary goes, it's better to protect your QB this year and then get secondary next year. Rather than letting your franchise QB get killed. It sounds like everyone here thinks you're going to solve a lot of the issues with one draft, but you're not. Especially not in this weak of a draft, in terms of what Detroit needs. At least this way you're finding protection for your offense, and then you could worry about defense next year or through free agency. Unfortunately, no matter how the Lions draft they're still going to end up drafting in the top ten again next year. So you might as well help your franchise QB out now, and then fix the defense next year. At least this way you've also got a pass rushing threat to help the defense out some.
