OT - 2017 Michigan Depth Chart for NCAA 14 - Updated With Bama Depth Chart For Comparisons

Submitted by BossHawgzGoinHam on

Alright I have gone through and updated some overalls and moved some players around. 1st thing I would like people to notice is the improvement in athleticism we are making. We are young but we are going to be waaay more athletic than we have been in the past. I know this is a video game but I use real 40 times, shuttle times, and a players vertical to figure out their stats.

On a side not Seth said something about working with me on the depth chart that would be awesome! I wish that MGOBLOG had a IM spot so you could actually message people individually. I am very curious as to how you guys compile a offensive lineman’s overall because that is one of the hardest things for me to do. There is zero stats available for them and it becomes kind of a pain in the ass to rate them!

So bombard me with your thoughts please give me back some constructive criticism stuff I can actually work with. If you think a player’s overall should be higher give a reason don’t just say Rashan Gary should be a 99 because he is Rashan Gary. 90% of my breakout players have some serious athleticism something we have lacked in multiple positions for a while. I did not mention anybody on the OL because I seriously have no clue what our OL is going to look like!

I have recently started working on Bama I am normally anti SEC anything but I actually made a friend from Alabama and the editor that works on them last year sucked ass! Looking at Bama I was seriously blown away with how athletic they are on defense! I will post the Bama depth chart for comparison’s look at LB specifically! LB is where we have lacked elite athleticism for years but we are finally making progress in that department. I think we improve around 8-12 players a year as far as elite athleticism goes.

2017 will be scary at times but we could seriously be blown away by how fast we look as a whole. Whenever I watch teams like Bama and Clemson play I always feel like they are moving so fast and we seem 1 to 2 steps slower. The reason I feel that way is because most of the time we are.

My Breakout Player’s

QB - Wilton Speight

RB - Chris Evans

RB - Kareem Walker ( He has been killing it in the game. So if it happens on the game it has to happen in real life right? Right. )

WR - Donovan Peoples-Jones

WR - Eddie McDoom

WR - Tarik Black ( I think I seen somebody mention he was 2 inches shorter than he is listed. His height on the game makes him very fun to throw to! )

TE - Nick Eubanks ( This guy is Funchess 2.0 I truly believe he will be a serious weapon in the passing game. His athleticism should get him on the field )

DE - Rashan Gary

DT - Maurice Hurst

DT - Michael Dwumfour ( I don’t know what it is about this guy but I think he is going to be a Hurst 2.0 because of his athleticism. )

LB - Devin Bush Jr

LB - Mike McCray

LB - Kwity Paye ( Don’t know why but I have a funny feeling about this guy. He is really athletic and has that typical SEC LB size. He may RS but I really think he is going to have a big impact on our defense. )

CB - LaVert Hill / David Long

CB - Benjamin St-Juste / Ambry Thomas ( Thomas in JL 2.0 and I think St-Juste is going to be a monster. )

S - Jaylen Kelly-Powell

S - Josh Metellus

S - J'Marick Woods ( Watching Woods film I was seriously shocked that he was only a 3* recruit! This kid could be a really special player and soon. )

The SEC is down that much is for sure. To say they are soft is just not true. For example we played OSU down to the wire and lost even though we really should have won. Clemson shut OSU out and went on to the Natty. Clemson barely beat Bama and did so on a play that should have been called back. So your argument that the SEC is soft that must make the BIG 10 Pee Wee football because the team that represented us was shutout against better competition. Hurts was a very big reason they won so many games. You obviously don't follow football that much because Bo didn't start playing until the last half of the season. He did play like shit against Clemson but scoring over 35 TD's in a season is nothing to scoff at! For instance if you put that production on Speight we would still be undefeated.

If you Google "Clemson pick," you'll find a plethora of analyses that explain why the final play was legal. In fact, I have yet to find one that presents the contrary. Yes, it was a pick play. No, it was not a penalty. The outside receiver attempted to run his route, the DB initiated contact, and the second DB had to take a circuitous route.

Ummm Ok. That is BS man I could careless that Bama lost but they flagged ND for the exact same thing against FSU the year before. They flagged us for the same thing this year as well and our play was nowhere near that bad. It seems like a trend now with sports in general where the refs have a serious outcome on games. The fact that the officials have got worse with more training should tell you that it goes a lot further than bad officiating. Some of this stuff has to be set up because there is literally no other explanation. When OSU went for it on 4th down and the call was super close since when in the hell does a official rule it a automatic 1st down without using the chains to measure 1st? Once he ruled it a 1st down it was going to be impossible to overturn you cannot tell me that the official did not know that. The list goes on and on but the rule is pretty damn simple on the play we are talking about. I have no idea what you are seeing saying the DB initiated contact because the WR runs straight towards him with his head down to engage a half assed block.

Refs are only having a larger impact on games due to two reasons:

1) Teams are pushing the limits on the rules more and more as coaches and players get smarter and realize that they can take advantage of the way the rules are phrased.

2) This is as a result of number 1, but the rulebook has become ridiculously specific in all penalties outside of targeting and it makes the refs job harder.

This is why reffing soccer is so much easier than basketball and football. The soccer rules are simple for the most part, does a player gain an unfair advantage through their actions, which simplifies the job of the ref. I was a soccer ref for 4 years and I loved the rulebook and how it made it easy on the ref. The football rulebook for refs is probably like reading a chemistry textbook and being expected to take a final on it. If you are good you will get an 80-90%, but thats still a lot of mistakes in a football game.

Glad to see Boss getting early on the action. This team looks like it can be very fun to play with this upcoming year.

Brad Hawkins has the same speed as Speight? Wow.

O'Maury Samuels is an athletic freak. Can't wait to play with him and all the other freshmen.

I know that is the 40 time that's listed for Hawkins which seems fake as hell to me. I do think I will end up dropping Speight's speed bcuz I think they padded his 40 time by about 20 seconds lol. Right now they are good to go on the game they are under my BossHawgMichigan gamertag if you wanna try them out. They are really fun to play with and Devin Bush is all over the damn place! DPJ is a freak and seems to just seperate every time he touches the ball. Evans runs just like he does in real life on the game. Samuels is my favorite player we have recruited thus far because he is an absolute freak! My #1 recruit though and I want him to sign so damn bad is Willie Gay that dude is ridiculous!

I have been strongly considering adding him but he just never seems to do anything. I almost feel like he might be a player to transfer before he ends up playing. I know that he has been rumored to be in the WR depth chart but he didn’t even sniff a spot this year. Now I know he got hurt but the incoming freshmen we have this year are probably better than the ones we had last year at WR or damn close. I think he is going to stay buried on the depth chart but we shall see.

The last time we all seen him he was quite a bit slower than he was b4 the OSU game where he got hurt. Now he has been hit by a forklift and did not play all season. He is the oldest RB on the depth chart and has been hurt multiple times so i imagine he will be the slowest RB we have on the depth chart. When you get seriously injured multiple times it takes something out of ya. I think a 87 is fair based on all the info I have seen. Plus when watching him in game he never really seemed to have top end speed he was more quick and agile than anything. I hope he makes it back but I would not be suprised if his career at Michigan is over.

23 tackles

0.5 TFL

0.5 sacks

I love Rashan and I am about 99% sure he blows up this season without question! But I cannot rate players on my feelings that would make me a homer. If you want people to take you seriously when your doing something you have to be logical in the way you choose to proceed. Rashan just did not do enough to get a better rating. He missed about 6 sacks and that would have been a big boost for him. I don't just use stats to rate players but I have to have a damn good reason for taking a kid who was rated a 82 as a freshmen and then boosting him up to say a 99 overall like everybody seems to want. He is number 1 in our hearts but not just yet on the field. Patience my friends because it's coming.

This is very cool. Thanks again! One question - where do the agility rating come from if they don't say "guess" under them? They seem odd to me. For example: Brandon Peters 91 agility.

Thanks man I appreciate it! I spend a lot of hours doing these rosters as do the other editors. I know this is a video game but ironically it gives you a pretty good look at what each team is going to look like next season. I truly believe people are going to be surprised with how fast we look when we take the field.

The acc/agi comes from their shuttle times. The reason it seems odd is because your thinking that makes a player fast with a high acceleration. If you actually watch most QB's feet in a game or when they start to run they are quick as hell but lose momentum as they run downfield. I thought the same way and still do sometimes. In my head I am like damn that seems really fast for this guy. But when I go and look at a players film I can actually see why he posted a shuttle time like that. When you compare his time to say a WR, RB, CB it does seem odd at times. But if they both post the same shuttle time then that’s just how quick they are.

Man, Bama's RB group is DEEEEEEEP! How is that not somewhat of a turnoff for recruits? Year in and year out they get the top kids. Harris, Emmons and Harris were all the top RB's of their respective classes...

BossHawgzGoinHam

January 13th, 2017 at 9:34 AM ^

I was more caught off guard by their linebackers. Their running backs have been like that for quite a few years. I also noticed almost every linebacker they jave is 6'2 or taller. I don't do OSU another editor does and they edit a little different than me. I use actual shuttle times and they do not. I could try it out tho its just its a very time consuming project and my Alienware laptap crashed during a upgrade and I cannot factory reset it. I played Michigan vs Bama in game and u can clearly see in game where they would have advantages in real life.

Is there a conversion chart, Boss? I've been trying to edit some of my incoming recruits in my U-M dynasty to have realistic agi/acc (IIRC the speedsters have them really low). Appreciate you doing this!

But I just got a PS 3, could someone explain this game and how one goes about playing on PS3 or where to best learn ? Do you just buy the game and follow the instructions ?
