The items allegedly stolen were two tie bars and were valued at $20.00 each. Kohl's loss prevention officers recovered the tie bars prior to the Lafayette Police's arrival.

The Purdue football players were noticed shoplifting only because the one suspect was having difficulty putting the stolen merchandise in his pants pockets due to having two cast clubs over his hands in what appears to be a sports related injury. Kohl's loss prevention was able to apprehend the suspect when he was unable to flee due to having a broken leg.

a felony? I doubt it. This is pretty petty stuff. A couple of tie bars? You mean these guys were concerned about holding their ties in place during the pregram team walk or something? Yeah, I think this deserves a multi-game suspension or possible team expulsion. If anything, this is the kind of act that warrants justification for some kind of scholarship stipend. Who knows why these guys took this stuff or why Kohl's decided to press charges, though I guess any arrest would be matter of public record.
