Didn't see this posted yet, so pardon me if this is a double post.

The items allegedly stolen were two tie bars and were valued at $20.00 each. Kohl's loss prevention officers recovered the tie bars prior to the Lafayette Police's arrival.

Stealing $20 tie bars from Kohls seems like the perfect crime for Purdue football players to get caught doing.

1st of all, they are probably valued at $2.50 each. Kohl's marks things up like crazy and then offers a huge "sale" where they then give you "Kohl's" cash back. I just bought $30 worth of stuff for $3.50 on Sunday.

No corners are cut when they sew fabric for that famous Chaps line of clothing.

That Croft and Barrow T-shirt is not worth $85 dollars? I thought I just got the deal of the centry for $9.99. This is an outrage.
October 1st, 2013 at 11:31 AM ^
What a dumb strategy! They should just get rid of sales and sell everything for its actual retail value. I mean, JC Penny has never been stronger!

Kohls. Seriously, Buy One Get One 1/2 on belts? Who goes to the store to buy two belts? If you are going to the store to buy 1 belt it is because you currently have no belts and need one, not because you are going "belt shopping" and looking for kickass deals on two of them. That is not even a sale. I hate even going in there. Wow, I was not aware until the time of this writing how much I really dislike Kohls.

If you had a 13 year old son who grows 4 inches in one year, you might like it better. Jeans can get really expensive.

My 12 year old is 5"9". They grow like crazy. Lucky for me, I live near the outlet mall and also, he is kind of an old man. Wears a lot of elastic waist pants. I bought him jeans recently at Old Navy. He is not pleased with the purchase.
October 1st, 2013 at 12:45 PM ^
If its the waist that is growing 4 inches per year, you might have a problem.
October 1st, 2013 at 12:49 PM ^
They stretch. They are literally like weeds. However, 4 inches a year on the waist might develop a fine offensive lineman. I'll see if he's ready in 2 or 3 weeks when the offensive line changes again....

Yeah I was 6'2" and about 135 lbs when I was 12. Needless to say, I never had the cool clothes. lol.

so he has to buy his belts in pairs and hook them together.

I wouldn't say I've been *missing* them, Bob.

One of my favorite movies of all time. Anyone who has ever worked in a cubicle and hated their job, should watch that movie.
October 1st, 2013 at 12:31 PM ^
miss them but Ohio does not. I suspect an elaborate ruse involving Urban trolling Purdue players with his awesome Tie Clips with the magical power of growing your butt. I'm sure that's it.
October 1st, 2013 at 11:25 AM ^
Well, it's a start, but it will take a lot of tie bars to make up for lost time in the Fulmer Cup standings.
In all honesty, I see "Accessory-Gate" being the result of this, possibly the biggest story of the year in West Lafayette.

are a gateway theft. Next thing you know they are going to be lifting wallets, then jacking umbrellas. This intervention needs to start before things get out of hand.

I guess the loss prevention "officer" at Koh's isn't a football fan?
There was a time in America when events like these were solved amicably without a word in public.
Simple misdemeanor equals probation with community service and a game or two on the field. Knauf is a pretty significant loss, if he is suspended.
October 1st, 2013 at 11:42 AM ^
And the coach sees to it that the two players in question run enough stairs that they never want to look at a tie bar or enter a Kohl's again in their lives, much less consider shoplifting again.
October 1st, 2013 at 11:32 AM ^
The loss prevention officer was able to catch both of them when they torn all four of their ACLs near housewares.

This hurts their chance at a Rose Bowl this year.

where were they going that they needed a tie bar so bad? And if they were that desperate, they could have just used a pen cap with a silver clip. works for me.

Does anyone besides soccer moms who don't want to spend money on their kids' clothes really shop at Kohls and other such discount places?
I used to be super cheap about it but then I realized how much better pre and post sale service I get at some high end places. Not to mention the clothes I pay for aren't usually rejected by the big stores due to defeciencies.
October 1st, 2013 at 12:06 PM ^
For Purdue football players, once they graduate, it's tough to explain on a job application. The theft thing will be difficult also.
I have to assume that they either dropped the tie bars while leaving or else were caught from behind by the security officer.
October 1st, 2013 at 12:16 PM ^
Getting arrested for stealing tie bars? And $20 tie bars at that? Wow, that seems like a very Purdue thing to get arrested for.
Still, it doesn't seem like things can get much worse for Purdue at this point. Looks like Hazzell should brace himself for a 1-11, maybe 2-10 season.
October 1st, 2013 at 12:19 PM ^
this year), or do they go back to Kohl's? What are tie bars?
