Well, if so you can't say OSU didn't do the right thing.
Peppers at 10, which seems low.
Well, if so you can't say OSU didn't do the right thing.
True, but if the alleged info is true could you really justify keeping him around if you are urbs? Especially knowing your past reputation and the media frenzy around the character of former recruits and players. Obviously, from all indications urbs had nothing to do with this situation. Unfortunately for him it's death by association at this point. Regardless, hope the victim is okay and that ohio makes the obvious choice assuming the rumors are true. Ugly situation.
He is confirmed person of interest.
But I won't.
12:35am and the search for the incident report "times out" because of volume.
For what it's worth, the nightclub involved is (or was) 4 Kegs. I used to be pretty cool with the owner/operator Jerome. I haven't talked to him in a while, and I'm not sure if he is still there. It doesn't shed much light on the situation, but bros must tell cool stories.
And a cool story it is indeed, bro.
Also, fwiw, the guy who originally broke this story is saying that this report is not the Hyde situation.
There's not a school in the country where you wouldn't be kicked off the team for this (except some SEC schools). That said, I'd like to see both sides of the story. Good news for OSU fans is that they're loaded at RB.
I remember Brandon Rainey only got suspended for threatening to kill a girl. He was reinstated a few weeks into the season. I don't recall who his coach was...
To be honestly I wouldn't of suspended Rainey at all. If I was suspended in basketball everytime i thretened to kill someone I would have missed a good chunk of the season.
"If I was suspended in basketball everytime i thretened to kill someone I would have missed a good chunk of the season. "
You, sir, have some issues you might want to work out. What normal person runs around threatening to kill people on (from how you describe it) a fairly frequent basis? I don't mean to be judgemental, but you're trying to pass that on as a normal thing and I can assure you, it isn't.
Not to mention, threatening to kill a player on another team during a basketball game will probably be interpreted differently than when you, say, threaten to kill your girlfriend.
Hell, I would suspend you for thinking "of" is a verb.
If I could of punched you in the face this comment, I will.
FWIW, it was Chris Rainey. Easy mistake, though, as UF and Urb likely had someone named Brandon get arrested or suspended or something.
I know it was a long time and several head coaches ago, but Nebraska kept Lawrence Phillips around after he brutally assaulted his girlfriend.
True, but he was still suspended for 6 games and never started again, so it wasn't like Lawrence Phillips got 100% off.
Are you sure he never started again? I thought Osborne let him start in the national championship game against Florida. I just did a quick Google search and there are a number of articles about that situation which seem to confirm it.
Either way, he did return from the suspension and play quite a bit of football for that Nebraska team (which probably didn't even really need him, what with Ahman Green and other talented backs on the roster that season). And Phillips didn't just throw one punch. He dragged his ex-girlfriend down stairs by her hair, and then smashed her head into a metal locker.
And by "good news for OSU fans" you mean "good news for us." I don't understand people who truly try to hide their fandom; just openly troll and it's easier for everyone.
1) The girl that he punched is the daughter of a cop
2) A freshman is also involved.
I have no personal insight on the veracity, just relaying what I've read elsewhere.
Not important. Especially in Columbus.
At UF they only bark at cops dogs now........At Ohio they still punch cops daughters.
Carlos Hyde is off the team?
I wish OP would have included more tweets so we could be sure.
A thousand karma points to the person skilled enough to photoshop carlos hyde's helmet onto this gif, so I can use it to freely troll OSU sites across the internet
I hope to not see that. Even if we're talking Jersey Shore or OSU, there's really nothing funny about a guy punching a woman in the face.
But guys... think about the ratings!
Seriously though our society has become pretty complacent about this sort of thing. MTV, Chris Brown/Rihanna, Chad Johnson, etc. etc. It's sad really.
That makes me glad I don't watch MTV.
That guy must not have a mother. What an animal.
At OSU. If so, kudos.
an assault of a woman is never right, even in self defense. It's one thing to stop a woman attacking you, another to assault her as well. Most men can over power a woman without hurting them, whether it is simply getting behind them and holding them or whatever the case might be.
I had a girl friend back in Univeristy and we enjoyed a pretty intense relationship. Those relationships are great when things are going good, but when they aren't they can be a nightmare. I remember many a night coming home from the club and getting into an argument and before long her fist would start flying. Even drunk, it was easy to avoid her punches and get close enough to grab her arms until she calmed down. Even when the punches would connect, they weren't anything serious.
One time I walked away during a fight we were having outside a nightclub and she chased me down and hammered me in the shoulder. The funny things was that punch to the shoulder hurt more than any punch she had even hit me in the face with. I thought I must have had a pimple on my should that she hit just right or something so I turned to look and found her keys embedded in my shoulder.
That was the worst I ever received from a woman and even in that instance, the furthest thing from my mind was hitting her back, you just don't do that. I yanked the keys out, through them on the ground and left, never to speak to the crazy woman again.
I don't tell this story to toot my own horn, but to emphasize that it doesn't matter the circumstance, you don't hit women. I also don't think I am the exception either, as I'm pretty confident most men would do the same in those situations. They're women, there's no excuse.
You could've just said that you were a sexist pacifist. I'm not quite sure that "the worst thing that a woman ever did to me is stab me" defends your stance that they can't really damage you. If that's your standard, then you would have no ethical grounds ever for hitting 99% of the guys who go to Michigan either.
I appreciate the vote for not hitting women. Your reasoning, however, seems a bit dated and overbroad. For example, I once dated a woman, and we had a relatively "intense," if short relationship. She did not ever throw a punch at me, for which I'm greateful. She weighed 122 lbs at the time. I know this because her weight was publicized. She also happened to be the Junior Featherweight boxing champion. I have seen her pummel men my size, who fight for a living, into bloody heaps. I have no doubt that she could give a good challenge to any member of the OSU football team given enough room to jab and move.
How about we go with this: punching people is generally bad. Self-defense is sometimes a justifiable reason. We all have significant doubts that the alleged perpetrator in this case was needing to elbow a woman in the face in self-defense. If the alleged victim turns out to be Laila Ali, however, we'll revisit the question.
I can admit when I make mistakes, and this in one of those times. I guess in my response I was not thinking broadly enough. I have never encountered a woman like the one you defined in your post, so my post wasn't really meant to be sexist, but based on the wommen I have met in my life, forgetting there is a whole heck of a lot of women that I haven't. I take your point and agree with it, though as you say, it probably isn't what transpired in the case in question.
The whole Aaron Hernandez situation has defintely put a brighter light on him. WIll be interested to see if the national media picks up on this story.
If this is all true, Meyer couldn't have kept Hyde around even if he wanted to, what with the Hernandez debacle.
That all being said, Hyde deserves to get his ass booted off the team if this is true. Whether you're a big time football player or an average nobody, you don't lay your hands on a woman unless she's threatening your life. That's about as low as it gets.
I will not miss him in the slightest.
Before commenting, but I agree, there aren't any good reasons to hit a woman, especially in the face. That's going for damage and pain, not self defense.
but the "especially in the face" part made me laugh.
"You don't want to hit a girl, but if you do, make sure it's a gut punch. Sure, she's being a bitch, but no reason to mess up her pretty nose..."
Anyone seen the thick phonebook? Lol
A hyde dismissal will open the door for Brionte Dunn...Jordan Hall...Ezekiel Elliot and Dontrell Wilson. Hyde's departure will hurt but it definitely wont be crippling. OSU is developing a habit of battering women and its disturbing. Talking to a former Buckey who played for Tressel tonight. ..he expressed concern for the values and direction of the program. That was pretty interesting to hear from an actual Buckeye football alum.
But I bet he loved the direction of the program when they were cheating under Tressel...
Tressel crossed a line that Meyer would not have, I think.
It's one thing to ignore your players' actions off the field, and to only react when they are forced to your attention. That's Meyer, and it appears to be the pattern in this case.
Tressel, on the other hand, cheated, plain and simple. He put key players on the field he knew were not eligible, and lied about it.
...that Tressel crossed a line that Meyer would not have, but I think Meyer would just go about bending the line. That's the M.O. I see him employing. Who is to say which is worse?
On the Scout free board (Stadium and Main), one of the mods posted an OSU insider's take on the potential dismissal. It said that consistency and blocking were his two best traits. Very valuable on QB runs, very consistent and physical gaining yards on RB carries.
Rod Smith was the one they mentioned as being the best potential back-up, but too inconsistent. Called it a major loss.
I'm sure he would like to fill us in on the details. I see in the tweets that #1repoman is involved already. Meyer must be either taking back the team car or having a barbeque to make the announcement.
Hyde sure is lucky he just hit someone. If he had barked at a dog Meyer would have had to bail him out to yell at him.
He'd better apologize or acknowledge he was wrong. (actually that applies to Hyde and the troll.)
but that doesn't change the fact that you're still an idiot - I hope you get sent to Bolivia
I see your wish came true. Do you have a magic lamp you're not telling us about?
That guy was begging for a one-way trip to Bolivia... how can someone be so stupid??? I hope he tells his wife and she hits him with a frying pan.
Haaaaa Urbz. What a poor excuse for a human being.
This just in: carlos hyde to lose an immense amount of twitter followers.
Lol. #12 is my brother. He gets his info from me which I get from here. It's like Internet-ception!!

Did you accidentally truncate the portion giving Hyde's name, or is that redacted in the report?
Nothing good ever happens on High St.
Looks like that's the wrong police report. Different bar and wasn't an elbow per elevenwarriors.
Hyde had some clutch runs against us. If he is kicked off the team osu will miss him. Bottom line you can't put your hands on women.
half those tweets up there all claim "Insider sources"
If he does in fact get kicked off the team, Hyde can thank Hernandez. Florida or first year Meyer does not kick a kid off the team for this. But with all the reports of Hernandez's violent confrontations at UF coming to light, Meyer needs a sacrifice to say "no really, I totally have discipline!"
Tim May of the Columbus Dispatch threw this out there just now, so if something has happened officially to Hyde concerning his status with the team, we'll know for certain sometime today, I imagine:
Ohio State FB spokesman just said he will have something later in day per current situation about a player, though he didn't name player.

Since the diary of you and your background LSA - I really have noticed alot more comments from you - not sure if that is because you are commenting more - or just that I am noticing it now that I am aware of your background. Recency or frequency effects? I don't know, but I enjoy your insights - especially now that I am more aware.
if urbz has any ethical bones in his body. Its sad to see these young adults make these foolish decisions. However, some of lifes lessons need to be learned the hard way. OSU as much as i hate them still will be ok at the RB position.
He punched the quarterback?
"No doubt if Coach Tressel were still coaching, I'd still be playing for the Buckeyes. Coach Tressel knows what it takes to win."
/Circle of Trust full circled
As rumors swirl in Columbus, we have the latest on Buckeyes running back Carlos Hyde and more possible bad news for Ohio State.
[insert popcorn gif here]
He should learn to run and Hyde.
was actually Dr Jekyll
uhh.. one time a chick punched me in the face. instead of hitting her back i wiped blood from my nose across her face, all braveheart style.
It means something different in England.
Learn something new everyday
'nobody makes me bleed my own blood'
am I the only one on this site who has never been punched or stabbed by a girlfriend? I'm reading some of these stories like what the fuck? who stays with someone who punches or attacks them? I am sure the sex is great though... crazier in real life, crazier in bed... so good for them.
Looks like Hyde is the sacrificial lamb of the "urban had no discipline at Florida" thing.
Did you guys hear that Robb Schneider goes to the Home Depot every Saturday and pays immigrant workers to choke him in the shower?
They have nice showers at Home Depot
To watch tv. Now get in the shower!!!!!
You slay me.
I heard it from a very reliable source out on the West Coast named Deuce Williams...
You guys will all be singing a different tune about "Urbz" when he does everything he can to get Carlos Hyde back on the team.
If they are in a position to play for the B10, or need him against us, I'm fairly confident we will be reading about how he has changed and worked hard and since he's a kid, he deserves a second chance to play. And by play, I mean start.
Come on now. Urbz is much smarter than that. He won't start.
He'll miss the first play of the game.
Elbow to the face? That sounds like the kind of thing that happens by accident. Doesn't it?
If it were an accident he wouldn't have ran out of the place before the police could get there.
Edit: And he didn't elbow her anyway. Not sure where that's coming from but he punched her, you know, with his fist...
Tater posted a copy of the complaint that's been posted online, which reads, in part:
The victim stated that on the listed date and time at the listed location that the listed Suspect struck her in the face with his elbow.
Ok. Well the first part of my post stands.
Elevenwarriors just posted a different police report that just states "assault," so it might have been a punch rather than an elbow. You may be proven right yet!
or making a joke by setting the stage for Urban to bring him back, but elbows have gained a lot of popularity as the UFC has grown. They have shown how much damage an elbow can do and also, the elbow is much stronger than the hand. You don't risk breaking knuckles and metacarpals when you use the elbow. I would wager this was not a mistake.
Feat of Clay was suggesting that an elbow could happen accidentally, as opposed to a punch. I doubt that she was trying to come up with an out for the player or his coach.
UFC notwithstanding, you have to be careful with elbows. I saw Lindros elbow a guy once. He turned and saw it was Kocur and left for the other end of the ice.
What I was trying to say was I was wondering if she was joking saying "oh, it was an elbow, and elbows are accidental" kind of like pretending to be Urban. I also agree that in hockey elbows can often be accidental and probably in crowded clubs too.
What I was actually getting at is in a street fight (or in the case of a man hitting a woman) elbows weren't something you saw 10 years ago. Now with the relatively recent success of UFC people get to see just how damaging an elbow to the nose (or face in general) can be and you see them (use on purpose) far more frequently than in the past (at least that has been my experience).
This whole situation certainly does not sound/look good but Hyde has been listed as a "person of interest" and no charges have been filed yet. FWIW, last year a similar incident occurred with a player and a female and he was removed from the team completely. Then, charges were dropped and the player faced no legal ramifications and was reinstated by the team.
I wouldn't have recruited this guy, previous coaching staffs guy here.....my guys make sure it's not public for years.
My overactive sweat glands in this heatwave make me want to take a shower.
journalistic reputations and whatnot, plus it's front page stuff at 11W. The one yesterday was a bit on the "take a shower" side but I'm not sure there's ever been a problem posting stuff that ESPN reporters, OSU insiders, other M sites, ect. are saying.
posted it above, but elevenwarriors got the police report.
does ohio have stand your ground?
but seriously, as a major face of tosu program he needs to be smarter and walk away, especially when the alternative is hitting a woman (allegedly)
Sounds good to me.
Is there a wager pool for Hyde's being kicked off the team or will he simply be suspended for the first half of the first game of their season?
EDIT: I stand corrected. Not nice knowing you, Carlos.
Ugh. I am having an internal debate whether or not I should post a batman-slapping robin Carlos Hyde theme meme..
*Please note I do not condone violence to women in any way shape or form.
Just reported it on the Brando Show and mentioned something about possible Bradley Roby news too.
Looks like Roby was involved in something also. http://buckeyextra.dispatch.com/content/stories/2013/07/22/0722-carlos-h...
the Bucks are going to have some issues in their defensive secondary as well as their run game.
they have a fair amount of depth at RB, so i think this doesn't affect them to much there.
Out to the bars last night, I'll have to ask him if he saw anything happen with Roby.
Sad news for everyone involved. I'm not a Buckeye fan by any stretch, but nobody "wins" when a player is accused of striking another person.
