OSU RB Brionte Dunn charged with possession of marijuana
Been a tough summer for Hoke and Urban Meyer. It will be interesting to see how Meyer handles this considering starting RB Jordan Hall is out at least another 6 weeks with injury.

UPDATE 7:58pm: An Alliance Police Department report shows Dunn was arrested on June 2 for "Failure to Control." He appeared in court June 6, plead guilty and paid $35 and court costs, a total of $110.
There is no listing of Bri'onte Dunn being arrested July 28 or July 29 on the Alliance Police Department's online listing of arrests.
ESPN Radio couldn't have jumped the gun, right?
Update to the update: Eleven Warriors is now saying there is a new arrest. No new details yet.

Heard from someone back home that the Dunn weekend arrest is real. Couldn't say anything else, but doesn't look like the June arrest is all.

CantonRep.com is reporting Dunn was found with drug paraphernalia possession and a seat belt violation, both misdemeanors. They report he was not arrested or booked into jail.

CantonRep.com is now reporting Dunn was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was charged with a total of 4 misdemeanors and actually looks like he got off pretty lightly considering the potential DUI/reckless driving (already has a prior failure to control) and close to half a pound of marijuana in the police report:
Police observed Dunn driving on E. Broadway Street when he almost ran the blinking red light at Arch Avenue, traveled over the crosswalk and almost struck a patrol car, according to a police report.
Police stopped Dunn for the violation and he and his passenger were found to have a wooden pipe used for smoking marijuana, along with less than 200 grams of marijuana on the seat cushions and floor boards where he was seated. A small amount of marijuana was also found in the driver’s door pocket, according to the police report.

That is just a regular old accident from early June. Doubtful he'd be arrested because of that.
Obviously this was swept under the rug by that shady Urban! And that would mean Brionte is a repeat offender.
I am sure Urban will punish him by making him pay for summer school.
Urban will "punish" him by making Dunn do community service...just like the losers of their spring game.
I'd love to know how community service is a punishment.
We should not boast. Dunn committed nothing more serious than speeding. Fitz committed a much worse crime with the DUI. The two offenses are not comparable. Fitz deserves to be suspended for a few games at least.
If I were Urban, I would make Dunn run a few laps, nothing more. I would not suspend him for any amount of time.

True...but why is it that I know 100+ students that go to UM, and the only ones that have been arrested are members of the football team?
That's because football players are high profile. The media really doesn't care if a random student gets arrested. Also, if I had ever been arrested I'd probably try to keep those who have knowledge about that to a minimum. I'm certain a couple of those 100+ students have some skeletons. They're not going to let their chem lab partner or their frisbee club friends know they were picked up for shop lifting or drunk driving...

I don't know where this will end up so I thought I would clarify who I was responding to.
The remark that sparked this debate was about kids not having parents/positive role models being the reason kids are getting arrested and you said you know hundreds of other students ansd the only ones that get arrested are the football players. Then follow it up with you know how to not get arrested.
I'm just not sure how you reconcile that with the debate...is it your parents/role models who taught you how to break the law but not get caught? It just seems like a ridiculous premise to me.
I grew up with two great parents who were god fearing people and attended (and made me attend) church every Sunday. They taught me right from worng, good from evil and all that type of thing. Somehow I still managed to go waaayyy off the rails during my teens/early twenties. Got arrested numerous times and charged with several crimes, but because my parents were well to do managed to get out of all that with only two convictions of assault.
My point is it doesn't always matter who a person has as a role model of parent, sometimes kids are just kids and do stupid shit despite the fact that their parents/role models taught them better. And the fact that some people committ crimes and don't get arrested doesn't make them any better than those who get caught.
Hey, careful now. I recently posted that kids everywhere make stupid decisions, regardless of school attended or sports played, and got -1'd for trolling.
and I sure as hell did some stupid things during my school days in A2 - many of which could have gotten me arrested. THings were a bit different then, but the teen stupidity hasn't changed all that much.
Ohio police stink.
My step father is an honorable member of the police fraternity of Ohio. They at times risk their life to keep the peace and help total strangers. Ohio or not, they deserve your total respect.

Please, let's keep the "we dodged a bullet there" or "hurr durr, OSU" talk to a minimum. His cousin is a current commit, we had a running back get arrested in the offseason, and nothing good can come from being an asshole in this situation.
Thanks for stating this, as I completely agree. Not to mention, Michigan really wanted Dunn, so to be like the type of person you described is just bush league. Obviously I hope he misses time so Ohio has more of a chance to lose (sorry, I am that guy and will not/cannot root for Ohio ever), that is assuming he gets playing time, but this happens everywhere.

In the minor infraction/misdeamenor category, you have Will Campbell and Jerald Robinson compared to Jake Stoneburner and Jack Mewhort incidents--both teams with potential starting linemen and receivers.
Both teams' RBs get arrested with Fitz Toussaint and Brionte Dunn.
Lastly, in the more potentially serious charges, there is Frank Clark and Storm Klein, both defensive front 7 players in the 2-deep.
