A few quotes

Mike Brewster- He isn't a part of the sacred brotherhood anymore...never on time, never accountable, never sacrificed for the team. Can you trust his word?

Brian Hartline- Stop crying and lieing... Just bc u didn't play as much as u wanted to doesn't mean u can talk now...

Beanie Wells- The nerve of some cats!! It's one thing to bite the hand that feeds, but to go and lie about what u were being fed???? Really?!

Mike Adams- Crazy how people change...thanks a lot man! hope you got paid to do that interview

Small's rebutle- Lol Ima snitch now that's the verdict got it up! Snitch on what?

Kind of similar to stretchgate where we had "bad apples" out UM

I don't Blame Osu players for coming down on small. I also think that their tweets only proves that small was telling the truth.

yet again, this is not new information to the NCAA or OSU.  They already self-reported Ray Small's dumbass infractions.  His claims that others were doing are obvious because...others were in fact doing it, hence current players being suspended for doing the same thing, presumably with Ray Small in 08.  Whether the NCAA takes this as "we knew this already" or as grounds for further investigation remains to be seen.

In honor of Randy "Macho Man" Savage, I think we should invite Ray Small to our sideline for the UM-OSU game. Maybe even trot him out onto the field for the coin toss.

It's not as if these allegations originated from Small. This stuff has been rumored for Tressel's entire tenure at OSU. Small is merely confirming what has already been brought to light.

Which is why the OSU players' response is so illuminating.  For them, breaking the code of silence = lying, even if the information is proved to be true.  Observing this team culture tells us alot about the attitude of their coach and explains his own lying.

They also tarred and feathered Clarett for saying the exact same things a few years ago. How many people are going to be called crazy or traitorous for voicing the same allegations before they acknowledge that they may have a problem ?

kind of prove that Clarett really was crazy?  Also, two separate NCAA investigations found no evidence to support Clarett's allegations.

Everyone involved with OSU (fans, players, staff, etc) seems to be a big fan of shooting the messenger.  So much anger directed at people who are (mostly) just speaking proveable truth.

I know we went through this with our own scandal, but in our case we had a newspaper that was greatly exaggerating the claims against us.  "RichRod messed up the countable hours a little bit and the team stretched for an hour too long this week" became "RichRod is a cruel taskmaster who is working the players to death!"  I haven't seen anything similar in OSU's case.

But we've also had people shoot the messenger for much more benign comments, like former players saying they didn't feel welcomed by RR when they came back.  ("How dare Former Player X comment on the Michigan program!  Just because he played here doesn't mean that he has the same connection to the program that I, the internet fan, has.")

Bottom line: there are overly defensive people everywhere, more willing to invent hidden agendas than accept uncomfortable things said about their current sports hero.

Like you said, "I haven't seen anything similar in OSU's case". We were probably guilty of some shooting of the messanger (e.g. Trent) but since we haven't been charged with anything as damning or with as much program killing potential as this it's not a fair comparison. In our situation the allegations were grossly exaggerated, whereas in their situation the original allegations appear to be just the tip of the iceberg. I'd like to think that in the same situation we as a fanbase would act differently, but there is no way of knowing that.

it's all just Apples to Oranges really.

To me, the repeated invocation of the "Sacred Brotherhood" isn't just some college kids pretending to be military warriors.

No -- it's the attitude that creates this whole problem of free tats, cars, girls, apartments, etc etc etc.

Players tell each other about this.  Goodies for everyone.  But you can't tell anyone.  We're all in this together, we fight on the field together, we stick up for each other, we PROFIT together.  Its all WIN -- and I'm not referring to the scoreboard there.

How does this kind of malevolence permeate a program for 10 years?  Because, year after year, the new players are brought into the SACRED BROTHERHOOD.  And so the illegal stuff goes on, and on, and on.

And only those who were once in, but were pushed away -- Clarrett, Small -- have no compunction about spilling the beans.

That would be amazing if we find out The Lantern is paying players for interviews...

is getting the conspirators to turn on each other.  It sounds like exactly that is happening now.  A pox on whiny ex-players who can't handle the truth.

Ray Small only confirms what has been known for YEARS under 'Vest led programs.  But ya have to wonder  -- if Gordon Gee and Gene Smith are still sticking with 'Vest, even with the cat TOTALLY out of the bag, at what point will the NCAA divert its attention away from Tressel, and toward the deathknell of all NCAA infraction proclaimations:

"LACK OF INSTITUTIONAL CONTROL"

He got all the extra benefits and didn't say shit when he was there. Now everyone has forgoten who he is and he is telling shit. If I was a current osu player I would be pissed too. Small would have been pissed if a former player would have come out when he was playing. Dude is a snitch. All that being said I'm loving this and I hope more former players snich!

They were talking about this on 24/7 sports last night.  How one of the big risks of running a corrupt program (like Tressel's) is that not everyone will be feeling "loved" by the program.  There will be outliers who become disgruntled either with lack of playing time, or disciplinary issues, or whatever.  And these are the folks, like Ray Small, who are serious risks for blabbing about what's going on.  Same EXACT thing happened at Southern Methodist.  It took one disgruntled kid to start talking - and it brought the whole house down.

May the flames from Tressel and his cheating hypocritical house of lies be seen far and wide....

It wasn't Clarrett or Smalls who will be remembered for starting the house of cards to collapse.

No -- deliciously, it will be.. TP!!!

Yeah, the #1 recruit they coveted and loved, thought he would bring them to paradise.  (RR thought that too.)  But noooo... oh, he's bringing them somewhere, only somewhere they don't wanna even have nightmares about.

TP is a selfish, brooding, uneducated jerk.  But, unknowingly, it was HIS improper deals that were the first card of the house to get pushed, and when one thing leads to another, the entire house will collapse.

THAT will be TP's legacy!!!!!!!

Meanwhile, because TP doesn't come here, we instead get the exact opposite of him, Shoelace.  Incredible player and, better, incredible student athlete and representative of our program.

Soooo delicious.
