OSU PG JaQuan Lyle probably not playing tonight
The game preview on the front page said he was the top guy to check.
This piece of news is interesting-
#Buckeyes PG JaQuan Lyle did not participate in shootaround today at #Michigan. Nursing an ankle injury. Didn't practice Thursday.

yes please
February 4th, 2017 at 4:19 PM ^
Please for the love of God have normal camera angles tonight.
February 4th, 2017 at 4:23 PM ^
I remember literally nothing from last year's game because I was just fuming the entire time about the camera gimmick they did.
February 4th, 2017 at 4:29 PM ^
/zooms in on Mark Donnal's ass
February 4th, 2017 at 4:29 PM ^
I had totally forgotten about those horrific cameras, that was such a bad idea. It was so hard to watch
February 4th, 2017 at 5:21 PM ^
To be fair, the 2-4 people in the world that are afficianados of Referee AssCam probably had their best basketball experience to date in their lives, so if there was any upside, it catered to a very esoteric audience but one that we should still recognize as fellow fans. Of course, I say that as someone hoping that they never do that again.

There are at least 3-9 in East Lansing alone
February 4th, 2017 at 4:31 PM ^
That's probably for the best
February 4th, 2017 at 4:36 PM ^
This is a total threadjack, but I just got done watching the ISU-Kansas game. Great, great game. Can someone remind me how Monte Morris - who had 25 points on 9/16 shooting, 7 assists, 2 steals, and no TOs in the game - ended up at ISU rather than either MSU or UM?
No, I am not trying to knock Beilein or anyone else. Just wondering how this kid slipped away. Given that he was a Flint kid, you'd at least think he'd be at MSU. Insights?
February 4th, 2017 at 4:42 PM ^
somewhere else.
February 4th, 2017 at 5:10 PM ^
It is disrespectful to the op and it shows laziness on your part for not starting your own thread. That is all.
February 4th, 2017 at 5:11 PM ^
As if this is gonna be a lively thread anyways
February 4th, 2017 at 5:18 PM ^
You gotta be shitting me. On a board where people get HAMMERED for starting new threads of limited value (and rightly so), I drop a simple question relating to college bball in a college bball thread and I'm "lazy" for not starting a new thread? Pardon my bluntness, but you're a mouthbreathing dipshit...
February 4th, 2017 at 4:59 PM ^
Why don't you make him...
Wait..what are you babbling about?!
And yes, helluva game. Watched most of the 2nd half. That game might be ISU's true turning point for their run at a decent seed in the Tournament. Huge and difficult win at the Phog (54 in a row before today!). I always forget he was a Flint kid, too.
February 4th, 2017 at 4:42 PM ^
It looks like he was in the same class as Derrick Walton. No need for two PGs at that point I would think.
February 4th, 2017 at 5:18 PM ^
we recruited Monte for awhile...
February 4th, 2017 at 5:24 PM ^
If I recall correctly, Walton & Morris were both early JB point guard targets. So it's not like Morris wasn't on our radar. Walton contributed earlier than Morris, but Morris seems to have developed into a more complete, traditional PG.
I know a lot of people aren't sold on Walton, but we'll miss his versatility more than we realize.
February 4th, 2017 at 5:17 PM ^
Michigan never really talked to him.
February 4th, 2017 at 5:23 PM ^
So I'm gonna try to answer your question without being a dick. We were pretty heavily involved in recruiting him, but Beilein had one scholarship for either Morris or Derrick Walton and Walton committed first. I don't think MSU looked at him very hard, but I don't 100% remember. In hindsight this is one of the recruiting misses that has plaguedone us over the last couple years.
February 4th, 2017 at 5:37 PM ^
We offered Morris, Jackson, and Walton the same day. Walton was the first to commit. Walt and Jackson were ranked roughly the same. Morris slightly lower.
Its that simple.
February 4th, 2017 at 5:01 PM ^
Not sure this changes anything.
We will come out for a brief moment and take a decent lead, may even get up double digits. OSU will climb back and cut it to within 6 at half.
It will go back and forth most of the 2nd half. We will squeak by a bad OSU team and I'll have to come on here and read a bunch of posts like "I enjoy watching JB's teams improve as the season goes on"
February 4th, 2017 at 5:21 PM ^
You know no one is forcing you to come here and read any posts, right?
February 4th, 2017 at 5:11 PM ^
Crush them...
February 4th, 2017 at 5:18 PM ^
I am very curious how this will impact OSU. Because after having watched ~40 games of the JaQuan Lyle show, I'm not convinced he makes anyone else better. I have a feeling him being off the floor will make OSU defend better and move the ball better. Will that translate to a win? I don't know. But I can see a world where every OSU starter hits double digit points simply because Lyle isn't hi-jacking 12 possessions a game to dribble himself into an off-balance shot.
If OSU wins and looks good doing it, it will be quite uncomfortable for everyone.
February 4th, 2017 at 5:19 PM ^
On the other hand, OSU has no guard depth, and I don't know who will back up CJ Jackson. Kam Williams can't dribble.
February 4th, 2017 at 5:20 PM ^
So I'll assume we'll be seeing Aaron Craft making the start tonight
February 4th, 2017 at 5:21 PM ^
this year? Not good I know that much, I thought they had a pretty good recruiting class a year or two ago?
February 4th, 2017 at 5:53 PM ^
13-10 3-6 in the big ten. There trash but it will probably be a close game if we don't shoot well from 3
February 4th, 2017 at 5:27 PM ^
ESPN is gonna find a way to have this 30 point blowout finish 15 minutes after tip-off of UM/OSU.

#Buckeyes arrived at Crisler Arena. JaQuan Lyle with no noticeable limp or protection on his ankle. Missed practice yesterday.

JaQuan Lyle is dressed & just joined the rest of his teammates for pregame warmups. Lyle missed Friday’s practice with ankle injury.

With the luck Michigan has this kid will play hurt and put up 30 points.
February 4th, 2017 at 5:43 PM ^
Are you ever going to say something positive?
February 4th, 2017 at 6:01 PM ^
Lyle is participating in warmups, looks fine, and may play.
Mods, maybe just make it the game open thread?
EDIT: But he's not starting. So I may be wrong.
JaQuan Lyle was pulled from the starting lineup last year in game 21. Lasted 4 games. This year, it's game 23. Could be injury-related.

Fuck Ohio

Well worked for a while. 2nd half and play D.
