I have been receiving a lot of requests for comment on my stupid remarks made last night on my Twitter account. They may be found by clicking the below link. Thank you - I'm sorry.

This thread needs to be taken down in my opinion.  This man did an incredibly stupid thing, we've all given him all the shit that he deserved, but there's no need to try and ruin a guy's life for all of this.  He deleted it, there's no need for people to be saying things that have been said on this thread.

Everyone makes mistakes, even grown men.  This is a mistake that warrented us making fun of him and calling him stupid and all of the regular things we do when the ohio stereotype is played out in real life.

But the guy is a real person, and I just don't like the fact that this could linger for him.  It was a tweet, it was really really stupid.  He deleted and apologized.  Lets please all move on and let him live his life.

Did he apologize? I haven't seen any evidence of apology or remorse. Instead of tweeting an apology to LTT, he played it off like he didn't think it was a big deal and then deleted his twitter account. He made a very dumb mistake, but that doesn't mean his actions shouldn't go unpunished. But had he handled it like a man, I'd feel differently. Instead he handled it like a coward.

I'm going to go ahead and say that deleting his twitter and having a hate thread about him on a college sports blog is right on par with the punishment he deserves.  He said something extremely stupid, but there's no way it was serious in any manner.  He made a very poor joke in very poor taste.  That's it.

If you've never done something similarly stupid, go ahead and google bomb his name and whatever else you guys want to do.  But it's really sad that some people on this blog are so determined to make his life miserable.  I guarentee you it's already bad enough right now.

The punishment should be to be made fun of on a blog. Glad you're not a sentencing judge.  Oh, and have your twitter rights revoked (which really, we all know he's going to just start another account under another handle).  You weren't serious about losing twitter as being a punishment, were you?  Like that's a big loss in life? Seriously?

And no, I can honestly say I've never publically offered anyone money to injure another person, even in jest. Bad jokes in poor taste? Sure. Telling people to hurt other people without the slightest hint of irony?  Uhm, no.  Guess I'm just way holier than thou.

Where has he apologized? Link? Quote?

I don't like the idea that people think sanctioning a hit can just be washed away with "Oops, my bad!"

People need to start taking responsibility for their actions.  Or better yet, think with their pea sized brains before they act and don't do it in the first place.

By apology I should've said explanation.  When he explained that he loved the rivalry and would've been proud if LTT was a Buckeye and did it.

All I'm saying is that I think he's been sufficiantly and appropriately been chastised for his mistake.  He deleted his twitter.  And he's being made fun of on this blog, which I have no problem with.  I just don't think there's a need to take it past that point like some people were saying needed to happen.

He can now go away from my life and live his own miserable one as an obscure ohio fan (they all live miserable lives) whom I hope to never see or hear about again.

I promise to step off the soap box now... I just didn't like the tone this thread was starting to take.

Actually, the police need to know about this, because it has to at least be a misdemeanor and possibly a felony.  As for "ruining his whole life," what would it do to LTT if someone did take him out on purpose?

Not only is it a possible felony, but since the tweeter is white and LTT isn't, it might qualify as a "hate crime."  I hope this asshole gets the book thrown at him.

Not an expert on 'hate crime', but I'm pretty sure the actions have to be driven by racial bias. Pretty sure there's a good case to be made that this is driven by football team loyalty. That said depending on the exact circumstances of his tweet/its take down the could/should get involved.

I think we need one of the MGoLawyers to chime in and provide some insight on whether or not this guy has actually committed a crime and the plausibility of being convicted.

That internet harrassment statute is probably as far as you can take this if someone wants to investigate it for some reason. And in the grand scheme of things, misdemeanors really aren't that big a deal.

However, when you're a "business owner" or whatever he claims to be, and you have the wrath of entire fan base following you around the rest of your life, then yeah, it probably would become a big deal.

Nothing surprises me with that joke of an institution. They are rotten and everything they do is dark and satanic. They dont deserve to be great in college football. We need to bury them on the field. This is why no matter how hard we try to emphasize Sparty....notre dame or Bama.....The Game will never take a back seat.

Offering a cash reward for actions on the football field is probably another NCAA violation. If OSU doesn't completely distance themselves from this they ought to be brought to task, joke or not.

I hope that if/when a Michigan fan says something similarly idiotic regarding OSU they will be similarly repudiated by our fellow fans. This is nasty regardless of which teams are involved.

I love that the 11W guys say that Bosch's comments really make our fan base look bad. But then there's this guy who is a full grown adult. The level of idiot in that state is seriously laughable.

WolvinLA2

May 31st, 2012 at 2:24 PM ^

But he's not yet, and he's 17. If a bunch of high schools kids from both sides were talking all kinds of shit, I wouldn't care, and I certainly wouldn't write on my blog about how that reflects on the fan base as a whole. This guy is an actual adult who should know better.

I'm not arguing that what Watson did is acceptable.

What I'm saying is that it's easier to ascribe Bosch's comments to the "Michigan Program", given that he is a committed athlete, then it is a random Buckeye fan to their program.

In general, this entire issue is filled with idiocy. I imagine Watson was as genuine about his threat as Bosch was about his - which is to say, not at all. This entire issue is ample evidence, for me, as to why we shouldn't be following these kids on twitter.

wouldn't be acting like a Buckeye fan, would he? Maybe, because Anzalone met this creep it was decided to take his linebacking talents elsewhere.

that buckeye fan is like raider fan without the intelligence and class.  This could be repeated every day and includes daily reminders as to its truth.

For some reason, this instance of blatant harassment rather reminds me of all the stories from the pre-Twitter era where people tried unsuccessfully to rip ATMs from the exterior walls of buildings by chaining it to their car, failed, and thoughtfully left the rear bumper with their license plate chained to the ATM...leaving only a quick check of records between them and the police.

Stay classy, Ohio.

All I can say, Mr. Watson, is that I hope that you were looking to have an unsuccessful career in marketing, because that may be the case now. I don't know if there is much demand - outside Columbus - for a marketing professional who offers bounties on commits to a rival institution in addition to his publicly advertised services.

any dumber or out of whack with reality - this.   Time to grow up Mr. Watson and stop threatening a 17 year old kid for burning a piece of Buckeye junkmail.

He really has all his info on his website too.  Be a shame if he get's in trouble for this tweet.

{ED:BISB - Yeah, the info is all on his website, and this dude has earned everything that's coming to him... but we're not going to contribute to the escalating battle here, and phonecalls would probably do that]
