OSU averages 52 Yards of Penalties a game in 2016 yet had only 6 yds of penalties-
I was at the game- thought the late PI call was wrong and after seein it on review it was clearly an incorrect call. The ball was uncatchable and contact occurred at the same time the ball was at the receiver's hand.
In 2016, OSU averaged 51 yards of penalties when playing a home game other than today's game.
Even worse was the non-PI call against OSU when Darboh is held and then thrown down but no call is made.
Yes, Michigan could have played better but who knows how much better Speight plays if his receivers aren't held.

Harbaugh referenced bkb ref in his rant. Not sure it's him, but side judge today was Bobby Sagers Jr who's in Ohio h.s. officials HOF ... https://t.co/1lh1mflk2m

Fuck off, sparty.
November 26th, 2016 at 7:39 PM ^
Were the two false starts the only penalties on them the entire game? I thought that Harbaugh got the offsides one wrong. That was definitely on us although they fucked up the facemask by giving us a 3rd down when it occured after we gained the 1st down.

That's their job. If the crowd doesn't like it, too bad. They should have gotten the extra few inches to actually get the 1st down.

that's just coach doing his job.

They average about 5 flags per game, which I think would be a common amount for good teams. You also have to think that teams playing from behind probably have a tendency to hold and foul more. Two penalties just defies logic.
November 26th, 2016 at 8:08 PM ^
Over the previous 15 years OSU averaged 5.33 penalties for 50 yards. Today's 2 penalties matched the low (2008 blowout) and the 6 total yards blows away the previous low total (2008 20 yards).

Hoke also didn't go 20-5 in his first 25 games.

It's substantial in that Hoke took over a rising team that was 7-6 prior to his arrival, while Harbaugh took over a declining team that was 5-7 prior to his arrival.

This is not a failure. This season was not a success. A failure is to not compete and not to give your all. UM did that. The kids gave their all.
But they did not achieve their goals. The season was not a success as a result.

Really solid exciting season, and mostly great game today, but news flash: We still haven't beaten OSU - nor won a division or conference championship.
What, are we goin' all Butch Jones now?
November 27th, 2016 at 12:19 AM ^
Michigan played as a team. They busted their ass. They gave everything they had. Your "all or nothing" outlook is not productive at all. This is sports. That's it. This is not something serious. It's entertainment. All or nothing matters only in life or death circumstances.
Anyways, acknowledging effort and teamwork is scarcely accepting defeat. UM will surely use this unsuccessful attempt at reaching a goal as motivation. Everyone gets knocked down. That's life. It is how you respond to being knocked down that defines you.

Well I mean apparently one of the officals...the side judge I think I read is in the Ohio HS officials hall of fame. I mean he would never lean one way. Name is Bobby Sagers Jr who those who might ask.
I think Niyo is the one who tweeted that.
