OSU 5 * Safety Vonn Bell Arrested

Submitted by wresler120 on

And the hits just keep on coming, Although, this news is not as big as Hyde and Roby's.

It appears as if Vonn Bell was arrested for minor possession in Tennessee, which makes a string of 3 OSU arrests this weekend. All of this in the face of a media blitz Meyer has faced for his 30 + player arrest in 5 years at Florida. Not even in his 2nd season in Columbus and he has had to deal with 9 of his players arrested since he was hired. There goes the so called "These are Tressel recruits getting arrested". Three of the 9 are now Urban recruits.

Yeah, I'm enjoying the pile on, but an 18 year old getting cited for open container and underage drinking?  Meh.  However, it does add to the pile of evidence the type of coach Meyer is.

Maybe many of us on here drank alcohol before it was legal, but were we arrested for it? Or were we public personas at the time of arrest?

Yes, glass houses and all with a certain punter on our team, but in my experience you had to be doing something pretty stupid to get an MIP.

I could see how these Ohio kids could get confused.  To me this sign looks like it reads: Honesty? Treat women with respect? NO! ... Drugs? Thums Up!; Stealing? Thumbs Up! Weapons? Thumbs Up!

Is this real, or is this a photoshop I am not aware of?

but it's another snippet of evidence that Urban's team in Columbus is going to look like his team in Florida: lots and lots of criminal records

Let's play SCHOOL here:

Urban Meyer Player Arrest Record:

  • 40 total arrests (up from 31)
  • 34 total players (up from 25)
  • 6 total years (up from 5)

6.666 arrests per year, increase of .46 from old average of 6.2

5.666 Players arrested per year, increase of .666 (ha) from old average of 5

In conclusion: Urban's players somehow managed to raise both of his already staggering average arrests rates.

happen, as experience testifies. Meyer had the same thing happen with a bunch of Ron Zook's players. There was a culture of impunity at OSU and Meyer is slowly getting it cleaned up.

Listen, do you think he CONDONES any of this?

M fm Ohio more than any other single thing I can think of.     ^Tressel would have never even been considered for employment in AA due to his NCAA scrapes at YSU. I actually found it worse that he threw his qb under the bus during this investigation and did his often voiced, "first I've heard of it," although he is the one that introduced his qb to the booster.  If UM's players were arrested at Fl that is not that big of a deal. However, if he had been found guilty of NCAA violations while there, than he as well would not have been considered. I don't think this is true though because ND came after him hard after leaving the Mormom state.  ^It took a hateful, unethical sportswriter(UM alum, no less) to place M on probation and the fact that he was willing to do so just because he hated RR from the get go for his success whereas Rosie hasn't really experienced anything closely related along with his bigotry. That really pisses me off.   ^If I were Urb I wouldn't do what the boosters might eventually going to ask him to do. It nearly caused Woody his job, but he took over a struggling program. He would be snatched up in a minute be a high quality university. Such might not be the case if he falls into the trap. It has taken its toll on equally good coaches such as Wilkinson, Switzer, Carroll, et. al.  Simply not worth it to me.   ^I also believe there is a former M player doing some chit in LA, but until he is caught, I guess we table that discussion.

Were you able to find that link you needed? There's this website called "Yahoo" that you should go and check out, they have some interesting stuff.

So, now that you can't celebrate potentially getting to face the Buckeyes without the best returning RB in the conference, are you gonna find something else to fill your hollow life with?

I'll reply just because your comment is so funny (and fitting for a buckeye)...

I don't use Yahoo; I use Google.  I also don't use AOL, Lycos, Dogpile, a sundial or an abacus.  Now, my friend, let's consider the fact that this is a Michigan blog and not MouthbreathersIllustrated.com.  For that reason, most of us prefer that someone include in their posts the basis for any "factual" assertions claimed therein.  Sorry, my bad, I got all non-plain English and whatnot.

Anyway, I'd imagine that "the best RB in the conference" should be able to run for over 1000 yards, but I don't think any Urban-coached back has ever done so.  So, as we wait for the day that the odor wafts north, I'll fill my "hollow life" with employment, success, non-farm vacations, the very occassional romp with my attractive wife and the knowledge that, for my alma mater, we don't celebrate that only 5 student-athlete's were arrested over the weekend rather than 6.
