Oregon Vs. Wazzu. A good Football game. Anyone watching with me?!

Submitted by B-Nut-GoBlue on

Delete if necessary.  I haven't been watching football for most of the day, other than parts of the Michigan game, or whatever you'd like to call that, and so it's nice to watch a quality football game.  I hope I'm not jinxing the Cougars, but they're playing Oregon well, 5:00 to go in the 3rd Quarter, 21 - 21.

Oregon FORCED A FUMBLE and just scored a TOUCHDOWN after converting a 4TH DOWN.   I wouldnt believe it was possible if I didn see it with my own 2 eyes

Here's the thing.  At first it's wishful thinking, in that, "Aww man, I wish we had such a player on our current team".  But then, you realize, what the hell would we be doing with him, currently?  Half-ass utilizing him, at best, would be the answer.  He's better off at Oregon, unfortunately.

I am not sure if it comes standard or not.  I know at one point a few yrs ago I upgraded my package to include a few extra sports channels but if was before the PAC12 network launched.  Anyway, it's 717 here in Lansing on Comcast.

and it likely is premium if you live in Michigan, since I'm guessing you get BTN with your regular package.  I live in Oregon and Pac12Network is on the regular package, but BTN is only available in the super-duper premium tier (like not even the Sports Package, but the full you-just-bought-every-movie-channel package).

And yes, that's annoying as fuck.  Comcast certainly knows pressure points for pricing and packages.

Lots of good games as long as you skip us this weekend; unfortunately they almost all overrun because they put so much crap on at noon.

Let me preface this Sparty trolling by saying MSU is going to destroy us but my understanding from Sparty is that if you stay close to Oregon for 2 1/2 quarters it means you are 2-3 plays away from winning and you should be top 5 because you played the "clear #1 team in the nation" close for well over a half.  So does mean Washington State is #4 or #3 since they are playing them close for 3 quarters?

Also this makes Rutgers #7 in the nation amiright?

I'll hang up and listen.

Sparty played Oregon pretty well, in my opinion.  The score wasn't quite a true representaion of how that game went overall, though, yes, Oregon did break it open a bit towards the end.  And yes, Sparty is going to destroy us.  So, I dunno, yea it gets old speaking on how good Sparty is, and better than us, but at this point, can we really bitch about yearning to be a football team like Michigan State, when I think most of us really do want to be as good them?  We fucking suck right now and the near future is not exactly shiney-bright.

Every Oregon player who touches the ball just fights like hell for any extra inch.  I don't see that type of consistent effort from our skill players

What would be a better outcome for those like myself who want to make sure there is NO way MSU makes the football playoffs: Oregon wins and stays #2 or Oregon loses, makes Sparty look weaker?

/sad times we live in, sad times I tell ya.

I suppose you'd like to see Oregon win, because if the 4th spot is Oregon/MSU, then the fewer losses they have the better.

But basically, playoff will be FSU, winner of SEC, winner of Pac12, and then one available spot.  It's very unlikely MSU is that wildcard, instead of Oklahoma/Baylor, an SEC team, or Pac12 runner up.

B1G is just too weak.

Completely impossible to tell right now.  A 1 loss Oregon is probably best case scenario to keep Sparty out.

I mean other than Nebraska and maybe OSU if their QB makes huge strides in 4 weeks I dont see anyone competing with MSU in this conference.  MSU could actually be 6-2 in the Pac12,  doubt anyone else could in the conf at this point.   So assuming MSU runs the table they are competing with the Pac 12, Big 12 for the last spot assuming FSU and SEC champion get the other 2.

So we root for Oklahome to go perfect (tough one with Bayor and OK State on their slate) and for the Pac 12 to send Oregon.  So Oregon at undefeated or 1 loss would knock out MSU since they won head to head.  A 2 loss Oregon I doubt gets in over 1 loss MSU.  An undefeated Oregon makes Sparty look "good" as that will be their only SOS argument outside of whoever they play in the Big 10 championship game unless Nebraska goes 10-2 or 11-1.

Anyhow these scenarios are like pulling out fingernails or gouging eyes.  Its a long season, the problem is all these treams play in real conferences.  MSU has basically a bye this season with all their tough games at home and being in this conference. If you can put a top 10 team into the Big 10 you basically have a bye year nowadays unless you really slip up against a bad team on the road.

I have always admired Mike Leach.  What a great offensive mind.  I also hear he is a fan of Pirates. That seals it.

Man watching these offenses makes me sad b/c this is what we could have had if RR somehow brought Jeff Casteel with him ....

How are these guys so much faster/stronger/better than us? Am I the only one who thinks that Wash St.'s offense just looks extremely crisp and efficient? There's a lot of movement on the line, backs that look explosive, and just a general fire in their asses.

Michigan looks like a MAC school compared to this team, and I'm sure Wash St. doesn't have NEARLY the amount of talent that Michigan has. This is just sad times.

We look so slow on offense.  Part of it is players - Hoke went to "bigger WRs" to go away from the RR type WRs.  A guy like drake harris is fast but has no hamstrings.  Other than Hayes I dont see a burner on our entire offense - our RBs are Smith and Green, no burners.

To add to that a well coached offense looks fast even if individual pieces are not burners.  We are not a well coached team.
