This is gonna be one Hell of a game. The winner earns a trip to The Granddaddy Of Them All. Enjoy
Oregon Vs. Oregon State Official Thread
I know UO is a better matchup for beating OSU, but I just like Oregon State for some reason.
Essentially six conference championship games this weekend. College Football.
There was a graphic that read, "To the victor go the roses" and for a minute my heart stopped--I thought it said to the *VICTORS* go the roses. Sigh.
Patience, my lady, patience.
Will you marry me?
Of course you can! <3
Yeah, let's do this.
You can't divorce me for leaving the toilet seat up, though. It's going to happen.
If you promise to try tofu, (I don't eat animals!) we're good to go.
They taste great.
I can do tofu, soy, whatever. I lived with a vegetarian for 3 years.
funny to weird very quickly
You're just jealous, bud.
Pick a date; our colors will be maize and blue (obvz).
Would you like to be a summer bride or a fall bride?
Fall, but I can't do that...who gets married during college football season?? Unless we get married at like, the Jug. Which sounds sweet, actually, hahaha
Michigan has a bye on October 23rd in 2010.
Now we can even invite Tate!
Don't forget Mike Hart.
OMG best wedding ever. Do we invite Lloyd Carr?
We can't invite Mike and then not invite Lloyd. Plus, Lloyd and I go way back as longtime Facebook friends.
You're totally right. But if we're honoring long-time facebook friendships, do I get to invite Ron English, too, or is it too soon for that?
"This is going to be a tremendous wedding between two tremendous people."
Yeah, Ron can come, but he has to be nice. I don't want to hear any complaining about the 45-17 game.
Edit: I say this because obviously Rich is also invited. And Ronnie gave Rich quite a staredown prior to the postgame "handshake."
Woooo Facebook friends!
Yeah, he better be nice. We can't have drama at the MGoWedding of the year! Maybe Tate will text the AP after the wedding and tell them how amazing it was.
Word on the street is that Tate already texted the AP to let them know this wedding will be the wedding to end all weddings: the MGoUltimateWedding.
Now, I must sleep, 6:43 comes early. Good nite my looooooove!
He also mentioned that he takes full responsibility for our engagement, and ultimately our MGoUltimateWedding. He will work hard this off season to make sure we have the best. wedding. EVER! <3 Night darlin'!
"He will work hard this off season to make sure we have the best. wedding. nite. EVER!"
Great thread or greatest thread?
Definitely top 5, right?
So, uh, what ya doing later tonite?
Since we're engaged, shouldn't we at least be Facebook friends? I mean, I am friends with Tate on Facebook, so it's only fitting, right?
Since he is a mutual friend, it obviously makes sense that he is the one who set us up. What a guy.
Also, I think we are about 1 or 2 more replies away from killing mgoboard's formatting altogether.
haha how smalllllll can the print get?
Can I come? I love weddings, perhaps we can even liveblog it!
Of course you're invited! MGoWedding liveblog 2010--YAY!! It won't er, uh, curse our marriage, will it?
No, I believe the curse only effects U of M sports teams, and not weddings.
Oh this going to be so much fun :)
No way, I may have some superstitions, but the liveblog curse is not one of them. There will be no curse on this wedding!
What in the name of Hamburger Jesus is this conversation
I don't know, but I hope things work out better between them than Tiger and Elin. Zing!
What do you think about this idea...
The Best Man and Maid of Honor wear Maize and Blue ski masks.
Just a thought.
I'm excited to finally have a Pac-10 champion I can cheer for in the Rose Bowl. Regardless of which Oregon school wins, at least its not USC.
I want to see Ohio State get spread and shredded. Whichever team can do that better will prove it tonight I suppose.
but I just can't see them beating tOSU.
Oregon has the team speed means doom for the Bucks.
That said, go Ducks Quack quack.
I like duck calls. They sound like kazoos. I really like kazoos.
Already some out of character impact on the game.
Masoli, only 4 picks all year, throws it to the beavers.
oregon state doesnt force a lot of turnovers.
Thats why games arent played on paper, but inside tiny TV boxes instead.
im just not enjoying college football right now and i want to be excited to watch this game. i guess i'll take the ducks. i like them against tOSU
This Oregon offense is what our offense looks like in my dreams.
Much wetness in those dreams... It was a good dreams!
was he crying tears of joy?
Then yes he was --------- all over the place
Man, I only hope that within next 2 years our offense becomes at least half as functional as Oregon's offense. Damn this offense is explosive; they executed that option pitch perfectly, in which we struggled with so badly and what was the turning point in the Purdue game with fumble on that play in 3rd quarter.
Some dude in the Civil War thread claimed Chip Kelly learned the spread from RichRod. Any truth to it or was the guy talking out of his ass?
I'm fairly certain Chip Kelly developed his zone read by meeting with Rodriguez during off seasons. That was quite a few years back.
I think we have a great future at QB....but Jeremiah Masoli would kill in our offense.
I like the way he plays..he's one helluva QB.
RR recruited him heavily once he realized that Pryor isn't coming to Michigan(after his visit to Michigan). Masoli wasn't a big fan of going away from home in a long distance but was willing to commit to Michigan. Oregon's starting QB, Nic Costas sufferred a major injury. Chip Kelly, then Oregon OC, convinced Masoli to commit to Oregon based on RR's recruitment of Masoli as a mean of a system fit. Masoli committed to Oregon and the rest is history. RR is left with Steven Threet and Nick Sherdian as the starting QB. Masoli has the grades to qualify as a Michigan transfer and would have been the starting QB for Michigan. We wouldn't have needed Tate Forcier.
Oregon's offense really is a thing of beauty. I can't wait until we look like them.
Uni's are fly - they need a yellow field.
I like purple hats.
looked like the DE jumped a split second early.
get in to the white speed receiver market with that play.
Why was there no deep safety on a 3rd and long play?
I thought the same thing. That number 23 for Oregon is pretty fast for a white guy. I was really surprised by his speed. It sounds bad, but I am just sayin.
Wow, that was one helluva pass by Masoli. At first I thought, "no way that is way overthrown." And I was wrong.
this is just an awesome game to watch. gotta like masoli
is this the ugliest matchup of uniforms ever? It's like st. patricks day puked on halloween.
Can’t wait to see our bigger, stronger receivers the next couple years. Writing on the wall - we're going to be unstoppable.
By year 10, you don't even bother putting the seat up!
Wait, what toilet?
According to weather.com, it's currently 33*! Brrr!
that takes them out of FG range
Did anyone catch Craig James say, "I like watching his brother come up from behind". Kinda threw me off.
Why run a curl route 3 yds short. I never understand that. He had the time.
and you really want to read some Oregon blogger hilarity:
He does that a lot. I remember about 3 or 4 weeks ago it was during a show and Lou Holtz came up and he kept trying to talk like him and make fun of him and the other two guys were looking at him and you could tell they just wanted to slap the hell out of him.
I heard someone (Brent Musberger maybe?) talking about it a fwe weeks ago when the Quacks were playing someone else (SC?) he evidentally learned a lot from RR while he was still HC at New Hampshire.
Living in a burb of Columbus, I cant wait to watch the Rose Bowl. It will be fun to watch all the OSU fans squirm against the Duck Spread. Personally, I am hoping and thinking Michigan's run game will get a whole lot better next year with another offseason of lifting and tutoring under Barwis.
Jut would like to see them get some big name recruits signed.
Chip was an assistant coach at UNH working up to the OC starting in 1999. He ran the spread as learned in some coaching camps with Rich Rod, so in my opinion there's a link there but I don't know if you can call him a RR product as they were never really part of the same staff.
I don't think many people know that this is Chip Kelly's first year ever as a head coach.
I make a motion that our running game not be brought up again tonight or else I will be forced to find my bottle of pills once again.
commercial was beyond awful. No surprise that that guy was a Yankees and Lakers fan.
Great KO return - but it looks like it is coming back.
I havn't seen much of Oregon this year. Has Blount even got any playing time since he's been back from suspension?
not entirely sure, about it though.
right there - what happened?
State got to the qb and knocked the ball lose and recovered
Teh Oregon Spread is teh best offense evar, ferreal.
I never knew you could squeal your tires trying to crawl. His arms and legs were moving, but the locomotive wouldn't go anywhere.
NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VERY NICE I LIKE YOU YOU LIKE ME???
Damn, he just kicked that guy in the head!
That's what she said?
team to have trouble hanging on to the ball.
Oregon States' O Line is giveing him all day long back there.
"When you get it at the beginning , make sure you have it in the end" = politically correct for HOLD ON TO THE DAMN BALL
This is like NCAA 2011 with Oregon as 2010 Michigan and Oregon State as 2007 Michigan.
Just asked Dr. Lou what RR can do to get Michigan back on track. Holschchshcshc immediately launched into a nearly unintelligible rant.
just had a take on Rich Rod.
I couldn't understand a word he said, however.
On the plus side I just learned that the good Dr does not drink water.
The Duck's secondary is quite hole-tastic.
Go Beavers? Go Beavers!
Bob De Carolis FTW!
being up by two scores.
Oregon's high powered offense is gonna have to put up some major points the way their D is playing.
Looks like Oregon's D is giving Michigan's D a run for its money.
Looking pretty good on his prediction of OSU to cover plus the over.
Knock on wood...
He is like a TE in the backfield - a monster RB.
That leg injury looked horrible. It looked like his foot was going to just twist off at the ankle. Damn...
Blount why don't you take a seat on the bench until we need to seal a trip to the Rose Bowl. In any other situation we will not need your services, but we have reserved them in case we really, really need them. Now go secure us a Rose Bowl and try not to punch anyone or go after fans or the cops on the field please.
I saw LeGarrette Blount score a touchdown and began to wonder if the Oregon players' ski masks are the same ones Winston&Co used...
LOL I had the same thought!
finally comes to life.
That was a terrible possession by the Beavers offence, the momentum is clearly with the Ducks.
This last quarter could be epic, but I think that if the Ducks get a TD on this drive then they'll pull away.
Oregon's looking real good on this drive. Momentum is clearly in their favor.
Woo I take that back. This is too good of a game to swing one way or the other.
Wow. 8 of the 10 Oregon lineman on the two deep have two years or more experience. When RR gets to that point it will be gravy, gravy, gravy.
Well. No TD for the Ducks. OSU is still in it. This is a great game.
What's that belt thing James Rodgers does after he makes a catch?
What a catch by Rodgers!
Can stonum learn adjustment techniues from this god. I mean damn.
Shit, shit, shit.
Most likely they come up empty & have to score a TD on their next possesion.
Well at least Oregon is going to jailsex the buckeyes on Jan 1. Blount is smoking to Beaver defence.
Yeah I think it was a tough choice either way. Field Goal keeps you within one, but a TD prob wins the game. But with 3 timeouts (assuming they wouldn't have used one to go for it), I think the defense could have held them for one more possession to drive for another field goal.
If only Tate were close to that size.
That was a great college football play.
God I hate the Ducks.
would tate deliever that hit like masoli did?
When are we going to be this awesome now?
nah, Tate would leap over him (and land on his shoulder)
The left side of Oregon's o-line is moving a fraction before the snap.
Great run, but shoulda stayed inbounds there.
That option pitch has beat the Beaver's defense all night
Good option football is a lot of fun to watch.
Oregon hung tough when they needed it most.
Wow one hell of a game. Oregon is gonna run a train on Ohio State and I cannot wait to watch.
Best game of the season so far I'd say
This makes me sad and happy.
UM please please please please please be like Oregon soon. Tate please run like Masoli + learn the option pitch (no yakety sax please) + stonum and receivers et al. learn from Rodgers!
Did they just say Oregon was 2nd in the Terrelle Pryor recruitment?
but did anyone else hear one of them talk about "boot and rally" after discussing a vomiting player? Surreal.
So was anyone else squinting and pretending that it was 2011 and that it was Michigan playing?
I love watching the Ducks! They're a friggin exciting team. I wasn't following the thread, but here are some thoughts from the game.... If these were coverred already, my bad.
- I thought it was interesting how the announcer was totally fellating Chip Kelly for the pitch option and bubble screen stuff on the zone read, as if that was something totally new that Kelly innovated yesterday.
Hello, RR has been doing this stuff for years. I don't think Oregon did anything tonight that RR hasn't done before. (That's not to take anything away from Chip Kelly, I think he's a hell of a good coach... It just shows that no one in the media gives RR credit for anything.)
- I also thought it was interesting the type of players and style of play Kelly runs RR's spread with. It is tough, physical football! The obvious example is Massoli hitting that defender on 4th down. We will never see Tate or Denard make a play like that. Yes, they have srengths but as far as hitting a defender like that, we don't see that from them.
Yeah, Oregon is athletic, but, it seems like they're more about power than speed. I wish RR would recruit more players like that. We have all these tiny little slot ninjas, and smaller QBs and RBs, and I think that's good but why aren't we getting some strength and power as well? Especially in the Big 10, which is a physical lead, I think there's a case to be made for recruiting the type of players Oregon does.
- I don't know if it makes a difference on the field, but Masoli was faking out the announcers and cameramen frequently when he handed off on the zone read. Masoli is a hell of a good actor. I don't know if the D was as faked out as the announcers, but, man, his fakes are great. It's like after he hands the ball off he continues to run the play himself as if he still had the ball.
Tate never did this on the zone read stuff, he would just kind of trail off into the backfield like you would if it was a regular handoff. Maybe this is another dimmension he can add to his game with experience, but, I'll say this: Tate Forcier - if you are reading this thread, watch film of Jeremiah Masoli in the offseason... and also take an acting class. =)
Anyhow, I think there's a lot w/ Oregon that RR can use to help teach our offensive players.
It'll be interesting to see how they match up w/ OSU... as another poster noted, it's likely that prisonsecks will ensue. :-D. I'm looking forward to a nice feast of OSU schadenfreude... some Pryor yakety sax as the appetizer, the prisonsecks of OSU's defense as the main course, and I'll finish it off by enjoying their tears with a nice pinot noir.
