Oregon State vs. Stanford Thread

Submitted by BernardC on
OSU (ntmfosu) is looking shifty and quick on offense. Defense still looks suspect (nope, make that terrible/14-7), and it's early, but they look like a different team than two weeks ago. I would like to nominate tonight as the official "MGoBeaverLove" evening of the week.

Maybe the USC game was a fluke and Stanford still treats the USC game the way Harbaugh did when Carroll was there.  Similar to Hoke and OSU, looks like a completely different team against their rivals.

NTOSU might be looking better but so are we, maybe we got something way better than most people believe.

If we just get respectable QB'ing from JR, we're gonna be a load to deal with, everytime Stanford gets a compliment it puts a smile on my face knowing we're going to be even better than that when you consider the history of U-M football, the future looks damn good.

Yeah, it's surprising; they did ok against Northwestern...at least on D. A shoot out with an absurdly ranked USC, where both offenses marched freely around the field. Now this egg of a game? Stanford is one of the more confounding teams so far.

That's actually a good point made by the crew - if you know  you're going to take a loss on a reception, it's better to feign butterfingers. It drives me batty actually when receivers catch passes in such situations.

Meanwhile, there is a Virginia fan in Charlottesville who is hanging over a wall...again, except after this game, there is probably some vomiting involved.

So, from this game I've concluded:

-Stanford is not very good, ergo

-Northwestern is slightly less not good

-USC is really not good

And that Michigan would handle each of the teams listed.  At least, we will get to test one of them out this year.

Yeah. One more TD for OSU and the rest is gravy; that first drive they put up on us doesn't look so outrageous anymore.

What's nice about this is that I wasn't sure that OSU wasn't headed for a 1-11 season after they played us; they really looked outmanned, and for all we know they could have been (still could be) completely awful all year long. Nothing is set in stone, but this game suggests that OSU has some real promise.

At least, on offense they do. Stanford is plowing them under up front, which one would expect given how our OL put them to the sword.

Yeah... I thought the same thing...  Their D looked gasssed on the previous stanford drive. They needed to go for it there. I remember watching them gas out in similar fashion in Ann Arbor.

I don't know if this point has been brought up previously, maybe Harbaugh didn't want to stick a knife in Shaw by pursuing Hogan too vigorously. Maybe it was an integrity thing for JH.

Hogan would have our offense humming because it wouldn't have been that big of a transition with both offenses being so similar.

Happy to be watching some football. To confirm, tomorrow is our last fourth non-conference game since we go to a 9-game conference schedule next year. Just another chapter in Michigan football history.
