Orange Bowl open thread

You know, when the game was announced, I was kinda "meh". But now that I'm home and ready to watch it, I'm kinda getting excited. The contrasting styles intrigue me, another Big Ten team, to see how they'll do, and the celebration that is the LAST BCS bowl game on FOX. Yay!

And it can't be worth than last night's game, can it?

If nothing else maybe we'll get more Taco Bell commercials...
(Though Iowa and GT will have a hard time topping TCU's cheer team).

than last night.

But I'm not so sure it will be.

There is a possibly for a low-scoring ugly affair if the Iowa D shuts down Tech's offense.
I'm not counting on the Iowa offense to do much of anything.

I agree completely; it's really difficult to predict how Iowa's D will handle it and it should make this game interesting.

I wonder if jamiemac put some dollars down because I certainly don't have the confidence to. Some people are much, much better at predicting college football outcomes than I am.

Go Iowa! They are today's pick over at the JCB.

Georgia Tech is a southern school, so I think they have a fighting chance at competing with the eye candy talent of TCU.

But, Iowa gets the cover.

I love this game. Iowa's DL that specializes in making a QB look bad, going up against a great interior offensive line and the triple option. Classic stuff.

And, an Iowa win gives the Big 10 in first winning bowl season in years, for whatever that is worth.

I was rushing so I could get dinner then get back, and the IPhone thinks it knows more than I do (it's probably right).

Thanks for the best rationalization, ever.

I hope the Fox cameramen migrated from Arizona to Fl.
Their coverage was good last night, and the way they
displayed the game wasn't bad either.
Go Hawkeyes!

It seems like the BCS bowls stretch out so long that it is hard for me to keep interest. I love college football, will watch from noon until 2 AM on a given Saturday, but c'mon! I've already started to shift into NFL playoff mode.

disappointed that we didnt get a better shot of that automobile coming out in front of the techsters.

i fear its not the same cameraman from last night

I was thinking about that. Johnson's offense is quite amazing to watch and very difficult to stop. But I wonder how many 17 or 18 year old high school year old stud high school seniors are going to be willing to run it. Now, he doesn't need a stud QB, I know, but it'll be interesting to see the kinds of QB recruits he has coming to GTech the next few years.

I find it much easier to openly root for them than say "little brother" or even PSU for that matter.
Of course, I find it even easier to openly root against the Vest than any of the above.

Excuse my ignorance but everything I know about GT's offense comes from playing NCAA 2010. From what I understand it's really about deception and grinding down a D and can very rarely connect with a long vertical pass downfield (30+ yards without significant YAC).

Am I completely off base? If I'm not I like Iowa's chances if they get up by a few touches.

I think it's obvious from all the bad weather at warm weather bowl sites that the football weather gods are unhappy with Michigan not being in a bowl game. if anyone wants to go to the beach next January, they better be sending us a bowl invite.

And no, I've never used weather more in one sentence.
