Orange Bowl open thread
You know, when the game was announced, I was kinda "meh". But now that I'm home and ready to watch it, I'm kinda getting excited. The contrasting styles intrigue me, another Big Ten team, to see how they'll do, and the celebration that is the LAST BCS bowl game on FOX. Yay!
And it can't be worth than last night's game, can it?
If nothing else maybe we'll get more Taco Bell commercials...
(Though Iowa and GT will have a hard time topping TCU's cheer team).

Please don't let off the gas Iowa. Please.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:53 PM ^
Uh Oh, Iowa came to play. GT has their hands full.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:53 PM ^
Um, hi, Georgia Tech, this is not how you play football.
Maybe they won the ACC because the ACC blows (VTech excepted).
January 5th, 2010 at 8:53 PM ^
solid start Hawkeyes.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:53 PM ^
awful.
They look terrible last year against LSU in the bowl game too...
January 5th, 2010 at 8:54 PM ^
I'm sorry, did I tune into a replay of Florida-Cincy by mistake?
January 5th, 2010 at 8:56 PM ^
to change for tech - need to get a hat on the linebackers.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:56 PM ^
So can we not hear that Michigan should have hired Paul Johnson for the next 9 months?
January 5th, 2010 at 8:58 PM ^
this is a lose-lose game. Easy to lament the winner should have been our choice.
That said, I'll stick with who we've got.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:57 PM ^
Nesbitt looks a bit hesitant. He needs to make his decision and hit he hole or pitch the ball to someone that is actually going to cut upfield.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:57 PM ^
No one is going to mistake the Iowa cheerleaders for the TCU cheerleaders.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:57 PM ^
they may as well punt the ball now, they are not picking up a first down on 2nd and 22.
Make that 3rd and 22.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:58 PM ^
Defending the run against GT ... works
January 5th, 2010 at 8:58 PM ^
GT is, indeed, a rambling wreck.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:59 PM ^
currently a kirk ferentz hawkeye clinic. tech best break out of the funk and get a turnover or it's lights out.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:00 PM ^
Ricky Pick Sixy!
January 5th, 2010 at 9:00 PM ^
Looks like Bad Stanzi made the trip to Miami
January 5th, 2010 at 9:02 PM ^
HA! TAINT!
edit: Stanzi has to have the NCAA record for throwing TAINTS doesn't he?
January 5th, 2010 at 9:01 PM ^
and love.
Tech is right back in it.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:02 PM ^
I was in the process of writing the exact same thing word for word when I saw this.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:01 PM ^
I knew Good Ricky wouldn't last
January 5th, 2010 at 9:01 PM ^
oh Stanziball... how I've missed thee
January 5th, 2010 at 9:01 PM ^
is that an Orange Bowl record?
January 5th, 2010 at 9:02 PM ^
Hopefully Stanzi doesn't get in a habit throwing too many of those around tonight.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:02 PM ^
Stanzi throws the TaINT well.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:03 PM ^
Oh Ricky Stanzi, never change.
I'm conflicted here. On one hand, the gf is an Iowa grad. On the other hand, I can't root against GT, they're engineers at heart, and run the offense I used in HS.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:05 PM ^
Just root for more attractive cheerleaders and more Taco Bell commercials. Everyone wins there.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:12 PM ^
And I'm still waiting on the latter.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:05 PM ^
What High School were you at? Love the flexbone, myself, as well.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:16 PM ^
Salem. Go triple option.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:20 PM ^
Because if it was any time recently, you must have had to survive a lot of losing.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:28 PM ^
Yep. Let's never speak of it again.
Edit: and yes, it has prepared me well for the last few years of Michigan football.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:50 PM ^
I only ask not to send you to therapy but because I knew their previous coach and had been to some games.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:04 PM ^
evil twin?
What is with the emphasis on the passing game.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:05 PM ^
Has Stanzi thrown to his left yet?
January 5th, 2010 at 9:06 PM ^
So he is Zoolander?
January 5th, 2010 at 9:14 PM ^
That out of bounds pass to Moeaki was to his left but was overthrown. I was wondering why he kept throwing at Warren in our game as well.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:23 PM ^
He always throws to his right, the secondary should be able to cheat to that side without issue and press the receivers the whole way, but they don't seem to want to do that.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:07 PM ^
Back to passing after the pick 6.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:07 PM ^
Anyone imagine hearing that GT recovered two Iowa turnovers, including a TAINT, in the 1st Q and the score would be 14-7 Iowa? Crazy.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:09 PM ^
Stephanie Jacobsen in a bikini is just sick.
That is all; back to the game.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:15 PM ^
Has Nesbitt thrown the ball only once?
January 5th, 2010 at 9:16 PM ^
is looking very hesitant.
Not a good showing by him so far.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:17 PM ^
...reminds me of watching our spread (or frankly, Oregon Friday). This offense has been tearing everybody up...why does it look so awful now?
In this case, Iowa defense.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:17 PM ^
Way better camera direction for this game than the Fiesta Bowl. Just need to fly in the TCU dance team.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:23 PM ^
Um, not that I was creepily looking up the TCU dance team or anything, but they are called the "Showgirls." Srsly.
Also, pretty sure the website is outdated by about two or three years or they have some damn old freshmen and sophomores.
EDIT: Here's the website: http://www.showgirls.tcu.edu/roster.htm
January 5th, 2010 at 9:17 PM ^
I REALLY 3 Ellen Page. That is all.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:24 PM ^
+10 to you
January 5th, 2010 at 9:20 PM ^
I've seen a lot of football.. and very few times have I seen an OL come back after being manhandled like that for almost half a game.. I don't think they've even gotten a 1st down yet.
Stranger things have happened.. but I think that if Stanzi doesn't blow it.. Iowa's got this easily..
