Orange Bowl Open Thread

Tajh Boyd vs Braxton Miller.  Lots of offense expected.

Let's hope Clemson's offense shows up for their bowl game this year.

Line: OSU -2.5

Over/Under: 71.5

Edit:

2014 Orange Bowl final score

Clemson: 40

Ohio:  35

Big night for Clemson offense

Sammy Watkins. 16 receptions for 227 yards (an Orange Bowl and Clemson record) and two touchdowns. What a beast!

Tajh Boyd also set an Orange Bowl record with 486 total yards.

I heard this was the first time Ohio lost when they score 35+ points.  (insert sad panda here)

If anything, I think it could be some Michigan trolling by Lattimore.

Kids get down to these AA games and like to have fun and play games.

Will Campbell did the same thing. He didn't even mention Michigan as a finalist during the week when he interviewed. Then when it came time for the selection, a Michigan hat was on the table and he picked Michigan.

That said, it's a message board, so may as well share the rumor and get someone's hopes up. Kidding.

Goodness, These two teams are fun to watch.   Anyway, UM got their Michigan man and back to 1.2 yards and a cloud of dust.

Haha, I literally said that to a coworker today. He's going to the Bengals playoff game on Sunday and told me to root his team on and I advised him that if I did they would probably lose in horrible fashion.

...OSU would kick the PAT to go up 2, 22-20. I don't see many outcomes where 22-20 is better than 21-20, but 23-20 could be a difference maker. It makes no sense to me. Anyone see the logic?

but still think it's a dumb move. Always hear that too early one. But think about it: adding 3's & 7's to each side, it's not many combos where 1 v 2 pt lead now makes a difference, but 3 pts would. Maybe that momentum-killer thing, but there too I'd rather go for it. Thanks tho--probably is what they're thinking

But you just go for the 2 later in the game...

There's already been 1 safety in this game, so it's not like things can't happen.

I would imagine that OSU would go for 2 at some point in the 4th quarter if it was the difference between a 3pt or 2pt game. But at this point, just take the points and see what happens over the next 20-25 minutes or so.

So switched over to the Cotton Bowl and caught last few seconds of the half time show on fox. They were doing a montage of season's "best moments" and when they came back to the studio crew and asked each their personal " best moment" of the season Eddie George said seeing the OSU player give the Michigan fans the double number 1 sign and chuckled. Unbelievable. Had to watch it back twice to be sure I wasn't mistaken, but nope, he said it. I hope someone in the Michigan media department sends a complaint letter to Fox. Classless.

Just visited the Open Thread for Cotton Bowl and left a post which it seems many won't read (as that thread is less active).

Posting here as well:

There are two games being played tonight?

It's strange to watch one game and not have the cutback to another game to see highlights.

Two high-level games, no reference that I've noticed to either by the networks.  As if each were existing in a vaccum.  Makes me realize how ubiquitious ABC/ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNfamily games are.  They always have so many cut ins to games on their network (which I enjoy until I think they are missing the beginning of a play...when I start to curse at the TV).  This evening illustrates to me how keen they are on cross-promoting vs how keen they are on keeping me informed.  Totally understand, just feeling a bit of realiztion.

...just been posting more in this thread.

But I think the Fox announcer crew is the reason I'm probably 60/40 on the Cotton Bowl.

That said, I've missed 2-3 big plays in the Orange Bowl and I'm not taping it so I can't go back...but oh well.

I mean even if we were winning, you're still going to poke fun at certain things...(i.e. headset, MANBALL, poor defense vs. the spread, sleeves, kneeling the ball and not being aggressive, etc.)

But now that w'ere not very good, you're going to have to hear about a lot more. And honestly, rightfully so. He was the one that said "THIS IS MICHIGAN."

He's on TV right now playing for Mizzou, one of the best WRs in the country and really came on his sophomore year.

Gilbert from OK St. is locking him up and he only has 3 catches for 24 yards, but at 6'6, he and Washington have been BEASTS for Mizzou all year. He'll be in the NFL next year.

It's been an entertaining game do far. It's up in the air as to who will win

Both teams are putting forth great effort and intensity. Unlike our beloved Wolverines who embarrassed themselves with lack of heart, will, and toughness.

All this game does is remind me how far Michigan is away from being in a bcS bowl game. This staff will take us no where. Good thing I love pro football and my eagles play sat. College ball is weak

Because neither team has outplayed the other in this game. I'd say the score is pretty much exactly what it should be by the play on the field.

And without 6 minutes to go in the 3rd frickin quarter, it's premature to say anyone is going to get beat in a 2 point game with two pretty even teams.

The way my pick 'em has gone thus far I feel as though my pessimism is warranted as I've basically given up on it. When I flicked the game on in the second quarter, I saw Clemson dominance, really. When they scored to go up 20-9, they were outgaining Ohio 318-91 or something crazy like that. The tide has shifted dramatically and it doesn't have that comeback feel, sort of like the Sugar Bowl.
