Opening drive--Is the defense even trying?

Look, they struggled in the first half against EMU last weekend, and made adjustments, and were better in the second half. They've struggled on two drives this half, but also come up with some key stops in holding Indiana to field goals. My point earlier, and now, is that it's ludicrous to be overreacting after the first drive of the game. You shouldn't be making judgments about the defense that early or basing anything on one drive. We know the defense isn't great. It may not even be good. You also shouldn't be raising the absurd "are they even trying?" question, as that has no place here no matter what happens.

This reminds me a lot of the "we shouldn't have to wait 3 more years" thread. I'm sure the guys aren't trying one bit to defend against Indiana. I'm sure they are out there saying, "Please, the end zone is over there, have at it."

So they aren't dominating? We know the philosophy is bend but don't break. We know that means that we aren't that good on defense. This stuff happens. There's no need to whine about it, especially when the game isn't over. That said, once the game is over, feel free to whine, but at least go into it more than "I don't like this, we're bad."
