The Opening Day 3 has just started with 7 on 7 play. There is already some Michigan news.
And this from Allen Trieu
Big collision. Laquon Treadwell down.
Treadwell's back in now.
Shane and the Land Sharks with the #1 seed
Dawson on the left in back row:
Is that him eatin'?
Wasn't Kalis training LeCharles last year? He looks big.
(yes i know)
Our #Michigan shirts we made... Game on, world. Not sure how happy Adidas will be with these...
-- 6-0 Vapor Carbon over Super Bad (winner plays Shane and the Land Sharks)
Defensive battle between Brice Ramsey's team and Cooper Bateman's, Brice hit Miami commit Travis Johnson for a 6-0 lead/half
-- 7-7 tie between Alpha Speed (Treadwell) and Alpha Talon (Butt)
#USC commit Justin Davis runs about 60 yards to get 30. Impressive in 1 hand touch, incredible in open field. Runs out clock, 7-7 at half.
Shane & Land Shark teammate Jayme Thompson from Ohio waiting for their game:
I really wanted Michigan to get that Justin Davis kid...
Kind of hope he reconsiders, but probably just wishful thinking
On Ty Isaac from 247Sports board (Barton Simmons):
Gerry and I are very impressed with Ty Issac. The type of kid that will be a huge asset even If he never lines up in the backfield.
Really think Ty Isaac may have the best, most natural hands of anyone here.
Appreciate the constant updates leaders and best. Keep them coming.
Matthew Thomas just had his third pick of Brice Ramsey this game. He's having a decent game...
I'd love to see stats on the QBs once the tournament is over... especially TD/INT numbers.
Andy Murray is about to lose but his girlfriend is a fox.
Keep up the good work Leaders and best. Appreciate the updates.
Shane Morris finds OJ Howard who makes a great grab in double coverage
-- #4 seed Super Bad defeated #5 Vapor Talon. Super Bad now taking on Land Sharks
-- #6 seed Alpha Talon upsets #3 Alpha Speed 15-7 behind some terrific play by Jake Butt as detailed in posts above.
Hackenberg throws an INT and Alpha Talon knocks off Alpha Speed 15-7. Swoopes chucks a TD late or the win.
Going to be huge.
Is this on TV or the net anywhere? ESPNU or anything?
These current games will not be. Hopefully they will have highlights on the ESPN website this week.
So when is Treadwell expected to commit ?
No one freaking knows
...and THE PARTYROOM
At some point within the next few hours, days or weeks.
Sometime between now and the end of March would be my best guest. I'm not a recruiting analyst so take this FWIW
Let's see what Laquon has to say about it, shall we?
Even when the story gets fever pitched and even in a fluff piece like that one at SBnation, Laquon has been pretty consistent:
He will commit after he takes a few visits, namely OkSU. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this weekend's goings-on apropos David Dawson and the UF visit he wanted to take (but now will not after speaking with Hoke) had an impact on Laquon wanting to be more steadfast than impulsive.
He's still "Michigan's to lose" but it's pretty clear he's going to take at least a little more time. As he damned sure should.
-- Shane and the Land Sharks down 20-6 now in 2nd half. UNC RB commit Ryan Switzer is killing them with 3 TDs.
Tre Bell drops an interception on an overthrown long pass from Shane Morris. Next play, Keanu Neal makes the pick.
Bateman to Switzer for another TD. This time, the little guy outjumps Tre Bell in the end zone. It's 20-6 Super Bad.
I like that Ryan Switzer kid. I think he'll be a slot receiver at the next level, but he's got some moves.
-- Somehow Tyrone Swoopes team (with Jake Butt) is hanging tough down 7-0
Kevin King just had a sweet INT of Max Browne. Swoopes with the ball, down 7
"Shane Morris just took a sack then followed it up with a dart for a TD. It's a battle."
Leon McQuay in perfect position for an INT, but he waited for it, and Alvin Bailey went up and stole it. TD Field Generals 14-0
He looks tired
Yeah, doesn't look too thrilled about the interview. Obviously he is feeling like decommitting so who should we go after to replace him?
Beat by half a second
-- Shane gets them in for TD but no conversion so down 20-19 to Super Bad. May be all she wrote for this game.
Morris to Howard again but no good on the conversion. Land Sharks down 20-19. Cooper Bateman, who has been sharp, gets the ball back now
And looks like Super Bad is gonna knock off the Land Sharks to move onto semis and put Land Sharks in losers bracket...
You sure you're not high?
Jourdan Lewis' Field Generals and Super Bad move onto the semis. Land Sharks and Alpha Talon move to loser's bracket with Vapor Talon and Alpha Speed.
Elimination games coming up, and either Shane Morris or Jake Butt & Mike McCray going home.
Elimination games: Vapor Talon vs. Alpha Speed and Land Sharks vs. Alpha Talon...
Michigan QB commit Shane Morris to Alabama TE commit O.J. Howard for another TD.
With Treadwell and RSJ as WR's....ole Hackenberg has not been good this weekend from the way it sounds.
Still seems like this weekend it was mainly Morris/Browne being the standout QB's
247 is enamored with Hackenberg. They were mentioning him possibly being the #1 QB in the nation. He apparently has a really smooth and natural release, and is pretty athletic. However, consistancy and decision making are not there yet, as evidenced by all the INTs.
Not that it's Michigan related, but OJ Howard is going to be a monster TE at bama. Wolverineinabag would be proud
On our side of the fence, I'm glad to see Jake Butt is performing well in the 7 on 7's. TE's are going to be an integral component to our O going forward. Things are looking up with Butt, Funchess and Hill
Tyler Foreman picked off a tipped Hackenberg pass, Alpha Speed is getting blown out and will be out of tourney
Surprising considering the weapons he has on offense: Treadwell, Seals-Jones, Ty Isaac, Marcus Baugh.
Yeah and looking at some of his highlights, he'd have a few more if it wasn't for his WRs making some great ctaches. Treadwell has made some outstanding ones, and Isaac has the best hands there, regardless of position, according to some.
Shane Morris' biggest asset right now is ATH Taquan Mizzell. they are hot right now. Morris showing nice patience and ball speed changes.
Let someone get me off my square and didn't perform to the best of my ability ..
Seeing he couldn't pad up, I wouldn't read too much into it.
He has been a beast at almost every camp by most accounts as well. And he's probably been a little distracted with the whole Florida thing. I'm not worried about him.
he is going to shoot up the rankings.
Nope. Ohio no want. He sux.
Brice Ramsey is struggling a lot early today as is Swoopes, Hackenberg throwing a lot of picks as well. Browne, Morris Bateman best early
Wow, when Hackenberg is hot he is good but when he is cold, he is ice cold. So many picks the last two days. Tries to force it way too much
From 247Sports Board: Land Sharks lead 18-6 over Alpha Talon.
I kinda feel bad for Swoopes in that this setting just kills him. Cant take off and use his legs and for a guy like that those legs can create passing windows as well.
Be like Denard in one of these 7 on 7's.....
Brice Ramsey's Carbon squad eliminates Christian Hackenberg's Speed squad 30-8 at
Shane Morris' Land Sharks are going to knock out Tyrone Swoopes Alpha Something squad 18-13
Hackenberg's Alpha Speed also had Laquan Treadwell, Ty Isaac, and Cameron Burrows on the team.
Swoopes' Alpha Talon had Jake Butt, Mike McCray, and Leon McQuay on the roster.
Shane Morris' Land Sharks are going to knock out Tyrone Swoopes Alpha Something squad 18-13
and close to committing. We need to close on Laquon Treadwell.
Wide out Paul Harris left
#USC last week with a new favorite college and a time frame for a commitment. $
Wide receiver Paul Harris down to USC and Tennessee: http://cbsprt.co/PrQ7st
This may be good news for us... USC is still in Treadwell's final group... they already have 3 WRs commited and limited scholarships, so if Harris commits to USC, I have to think they are done at WR even if Treadwell shows interest. One less school for him to visit before he makes a decision... one less option for him to choose over Michigan. Plus, Harris has always seemed a longshot for Michigan despite his stated interest.
Both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have 3 WRs each for 2013... have to think they're getting close to filling as well, although without limited scholarships, they may be willing to take Treadwell as "best available" even if they have 4 WRs....
Real good news. I'd much prefer Laquon over Harris.
I will be watching the elimination game between Shane Morris' Land Sharks and Brice Ramsey's Vapor Carbon. Game in 3 min
Brice Ramsey hits Dontre Wilson on an 80-yd TD pass. Up 8-0
From 247Sports Board:
I have to respectfully disagree with Mr Shurburtt. Shane's the man.
Landsharks down 2 scores; pick six on a tipped ball from morris.
Next play, Shane Morris is picked off by sojourn shelton, this one was on Shane 14-0, Carbon driving again
Jourdan Lewis' squad is rolling in the other game and looks like headed for the finals:
Noel Ellis just picked off a deep Cooper Bateman pass and nearly took it back for six for some SEC-on-SEC crime.
Huge finish to the half. Land Sharks still breathing.
Pic of the TD catch from 247sports:
Vapor Talon scores to put Shane in a 2 TD deficit in 2nd half. Doesn't look like we are going to get to see Shane on ESPNU tonight.
Quick 3 and out by Shane Morris' Sharks, Brice Ramsey throws Tramel Terry for a TD, PAT to Travis Johnson good 22-6 Carbon
Shane strikes back to close the gap:
Shane Morris lofts one in the corner and Ahmad Fullwood goes high to get it for a TD, PAT fails, 22-12 Carbon still leads
DB Jourdan Lewis struggled a bit Saturday but has been one of the betters corners today
Shane has done a decent job considering is only real weapon is Howard. Seems like his WR's haven't done squat today.
Have barely heard his WRs mentioned over the weekend.
Shane with Troy Smith. This must be why he is struggling today as the Buckeye QB bust hex has rubbed off on him.
Let's just hope looking back this is a picture of 2 heisman winning quarterbacks.
Clearly....there are dollar bills in that plastic bag smith is holding. I have no question about it.
The 1st half INT for TD when Land Sharks were driving to score was probably the 14-pt swing that decided the game. Jourdan Lewis moves on the the final though.
The semis will feature 2 teams that have very little interest for Michigan fans. Boo.
Field Generals beat Super Bad to move on to the finals. Vapor Talon eliminates the Land Sharks. Super Bad plays Vapor Talon in semis.
Field Generals celebrating getting to final (Jourdan Lewis is #2):
Like I said....seemed like Shane only had a TE and the RB who made plays. Wasn't Jaylon Smith on Shane's team as well? He seemed pretty quiet in these games as well.
Whitfield is a pretty good little receiver, but yeah, Morris seemed to get the short end of the stick on wideouts. He got the best TE and perhaps the best RB for this type of event, but QB and WR are where you really want the talent in 7-on-7s. Oh well.
Shane's future so bright
Taco Charlton heaving a powerball
Shane looking cool
I have to say Hackenberg is huge compared to the other QBs
David Dawson looks so sad that he can't put the pads on and destroy somebody
Wish the Michigan commits could have got a picture together. I couldn't find one. I just skimmed Nike's Facebook page for these. If one of you find one, please post it.
Cass Tech connection - Jourdan Lewis and Delano Hill
Ohio commits looking like douchebags already.
Some great shots of Laquon Treadwell in here. Really want this kid in Michigan's class.
Kendall Fuller, Telling? Notice the tiger paw on the side of head. Clemson anyone?
Probably doesn't bode well for Michigan
Anyone see if the block M was on the back of his head? lol
I want McQuay on our team for the mutton chops alone.
For selfish reasons, I'm hoping Ryan Jenkins picks Oklahoma St.
While I agree with your sentiment, he commited to Clemson today.
I'm sitting here watching the championship game of the opening and both qb's look like shit. It's unbelievable how many delay of games there has been.
