because even with a loss, we control own destiny with a home match against Panama which will probably decide 3rd place.  But getting the point gave us more security and keeps Mexico a bit more engaged. Just gotta take care of business now.  A collapse is the only way we'd not make it.

The US may not make it out of this match alive if these first few minutes have shown anything. Mexico should already be down a man but havent even seen a yellow.

It wasn't Beasley's fault. That was my point (which obviously wasn't made well)... everybody else basically moved away from the space that Beasley's player was moving into. Somebody has to step up, especially when they see that Beasley is a half step behind. As a shitty, slow defender, i know that play well.

he made a weak stab with his left which gave up ground and a chance to make a play on a shot.  He got dribbled hard. Really couldn't have played it much worse, actually.

But yes, someone else still could/should have stepped up. Cameron and Acosta both went with the guy towards the corner and needed to communicate who had him so the other could step in front of Vela.  As CB that falls to Cameron, so half blame or more on him.

Mexico lucky that half. Could have had a red card within the first five minutes (how he didn't get at least a yellow for two awful aerial challenges is beyond me. Totally CONCACAF). Wood botched an easy goal, Gonzalez can't seem to put it on target off open headers. Fabian is somehow able to continue playing. Chicarito avoided a yellow for simulation. Don't see us winning this one, hopefully we will hang onto the draw

Okay official misses the first elbow to the jaw of Beasley. It sort of glances to the side. The second one he's looking right at Wood as he catches a flying elbow to the nose. How that's not a yellow is beyond me. And then Chicharito dives and doesn't get anything.

I mean to be fair, being the head official in Azteca must be intimidating as hell. He might've gotten killed if he'd sent off someone on Mexico within 5 minutes.

Yeah, the power was out here, so I couldn't see how Arriola was doing - but I'm not at all sure I like that Nagbe substitution.
