Let's kick some Husker ass - go Blue!!!
Open Thread: Men's Basketball vs. Nebraska
Jabrill Peppers for 30 tonight, triple-double.
He can play all five positions.
Go Blue! Beat the Huskers! I think Michigan is going to have a good game. They will rebound well from the loss against IU.
I'm willing to bet we'll see a much more aggresive Stauskas tonight than what we saw against Indiana on Sunday.
Must win. Lets gooooooooooooo!
Its a jort out baby. jort-out
keep a hand in Gallegos face!
Pregame wide angle stadium shots on BTN, place looks deserted...
Let's Go Blue!
Petteway is really good.
WHAT TIME IS IT?!
GAME TIME, WHOOO
Place is empty.
Winter storms will do that.
I considered going earlier today when I saw tickets---and lots of them---being offered on StubHub for $10 or less (some even under $7!). My reality is being a 2 1/2 hour drive each direction and getting home sometime well after midnight driving in uncertain weather conditions. Nope. Watching and posting instead from home.
Yeah, I definitely didn't mean to sound surprised or anything as I expected it as well. Just an observation.
Yeah, get GRIII involved early!
This is a must win considering the next two games.
BEAT the huskers!
Why does our student section suck so badly? They are quiet, too small, and do the same chants. Need some new material.
Dispose of it.
He has 6 points and 5 points by other players were generated by him creating.
Thank you, Walton!
Nice to see the team rebound and come out hot.
Alright. Turned on the game and Michigan immediately turned it over and Nebraska got a 3. I'll turn it off again - you're welcome
Thanks, it worked.
Nice job by Irvin to find that space.
Stauskas -- beast
I'd like to see us attack the basket more but we seem to be wide open on every 3 attempt.
I'm digging it
Yeah I'd like to see us drive to the basket more as well but if we're open on every 3, well, why not then.
when the O operates like this
Some people will say the big difference between tonight and vs Indiana offensively is that we're shooting better. Well, we're shooting better because the ball movement is MUCH better so far tonight than it was in the last game. Stauskas has five assists already - this is why he HAS to get touches. LeVert simply doesn't have the court sense yet to make those extra passes. The ball has to move, and Nik has to play a big part in this offense, however the ball finds its way into his hands.
Agree. Levert can't pass
with the routine turnover
He does rebound though
Nice. Michigan is beating. that. ass.
The pace is definitely better this game. When we go uptempo we're awfully hard to beat.
Anyone know who the guy is court side in the chairs right by Nebraska bench/coach? He's shown on TV a lot, just curios who he is....
If Levert can cut down his turnovers, he could be phenomenal. He has really stepped up this year quite a bit!
Great energy by Michigan. Even when they do something stupid, they do it with great energy.
can't buy a bucket
I find this to be quite the enjoyable match thus far.
A real nail bitter so far.
Irvin has a cannon. Not afraid to shoot in the slightest lol
I missed the beginning. Turn it on and we're up 22.
If they were the same skin color the comparisons would be endless
is that deal!
Irvin is en fuego.
That was the nicest roll I've ever seen.
Wow, Irvin. Wow.
Clearly all of our missing luck from last game showed up for this game.
Hopefully we save SOME of it.
Zak MF IRVIN!!!
Hope they save some of this heat for the next couple games!
So that was good
Irvin and Walton are really turning a corner.
Zak Irvin with shades of Stauskas circa Elite 8 last year
Oh my, this is cray
This is what a team like ours is supposed to do to a shit team.
Devin and Denard hangin out in the stands. Great!
Is that BWC next to them?
Denard in the House!!
Denard and Devin sighting.
Who bet the over?
I did! Don't think its looks as good as it seems tho, Nebraska cant make shit and I can only assume that we won't make 17 more threes in the second half.
WERE HAVING SUBS TONIGHT
LeVert is SUPER fast. He got up the floor SO fast after getting the rebound.
It's also awesome to see Irvin on fire!
With Denard and Devin?
Denard, Devin and BWC
*turns game on...sees that we're up 30*
Half-tempted to turn it right back off.
Enjoy the Michigan dominance. I know I am.
Exactly. A rare game where I don't have to sweat bullets the entire 2nd half.
in the first half.
Did spike get a haircut?
Set the DVR for 1am.
LeVert is 4th in points produced off ball screens in the B1G, 1.6 A: T ratio, positve PPR and is by far our best player in finding open shooters in transition. Anyone that says LeVert "can't pass" or "a bad passer" is making themselves look foolish. Is he Nik? No. Is he a good passer with huge upside in that aspect? Of course.
What's his assist vs turnover ratio
1.6 which is very solid.
would be a better shooter than Larry Bird.
Near 50 point first half!
Not much to complain about so far. Good O, good D. Let's just hope this is an omen of things to come.
Salvaging the day
is a really big man.
Can he play OT?
6'10", and he could shoot from downtown.
GRIII siluncing the h8urzzzzzz
Is anyone able to use the BTN mobil link with VLC anymore?
This used to work every game and the quality was great. It still works for archived games but I haven't been able to get it to work for live games for the past week.
If it's working for you, can you post the link you are using? Thanks.
I stopped trying after seeing that VLC was almost always behind firstrow in streaming the games.
This is how a well-coached, talented team responds after a pathetic, uninspired effort against an inferior opponent.
In other words, the opposite of the UConn game this season.
If I counted right, that's 49-21 on 35 first-half possessions - or 1.4 - 0.6 on a per-possession basis.
Now that's basketball. :-)
(I had the score 45-15 during the 30th possession, but unfortunately Nebraska scored a bucket on their end of it and destroyed the symmetry).
Of course, the problem with scoring 1.4 points per possession is that it's so hard to get your average back up after a miss. ;-)
Nebraska eFG% - 35.71%
Nebraska OREB% - 21.05%
Nebraska Free Throw Rate - 7.14%
Nebraska Turnover % - 21.69%
Michigan eFG% - 78.00%
Michigan OREB% - 30.00%
Michigan Free Throw Rate - 40.00%
Michigan Turnover % - 19.23%
Also going well for Michigan - 1.857 A/T Ratio and 1.48 points per possession
Morford have no points. Otherwise, this is quite nice.
because the rest of the crowd are scoring before the ball can even get inside -- on almost every single possession. Holy Cow.
I get that you are hacked off at losing a game to Doucheasauras Rex. No need to take it ALL out on the Cornhuskers. Pace yourselves.
Nebraska had 2.
Good job, Caris, hoop-and-one.
Wasn't there supposed to be a basketball game tonight? I haven't seen anything resembling a game.
Regardless, I want to see a defensive effort out of this world.
Except in Bloomington as has been the case throughout history!
Love that Robinson has rediscovered his corner three shot.
Has this happened in the entire B1G this season? I don't think MSU healthy has even done this. Caveat that Nebraska is shooting like incredible garbage
Be what the 1990 team that played Bo Kimble and Loyola Marymount felt like
LM scored 149. 84 points in the second half.
Michigan scored 115, still lost by 30+. Hank Gathers was still playing from the great beyond.
GRIII pulled up for one of those "ARRRGH why long jumper?" but pulled it back down, ended up getting fouled. This pleases me.
That was phenomenal. Seriously
We are a great shooting and 1-3-1 zone team.
Well, our 3 is cooling down now. Open looks, just bouncing out now.
Ed: Walton Jr. drains one as I post this
Haven't cooled down too much.
I was referring to the 3 straight misses from beyond the arc, obviously over the entire game we're not.
You know if he's going to make or miss as soon as it leaves his hand.
He wasn't set at ALL on the first 3, he was floating. On the 2nd, he rushed it just a half second and it just missed.
When he sets, gathers himself and goes straight up and down...he's lights out. It's just a matter of when if he does that or tries to shoot off balance like Irvin does so often.
A nice clean blow out. Beautiful.
When it's not about making the shots...it's about getting and taking the right shots.
None of us expect them to go down at this rate. But we're getting and taking GREAT shots. THAT is what we ALL want to see all year.
When GRIII misses those 2 three's, I don't even get mad. They were good looks. We're getting more good looks than we've gotten in 2 months.
Great win!! go 5-3 and beat MSU and we should win the big ten
Is Gallegos not feeling well? He always seems to be draining 3's against us with ease. He's only got one so far.
"Can you really advance in the tournament with a team of outside shooters?"
That's ... yeah. That's some quality commentary.
I love a good blowout. It's so rare in this conference that you really have to enjoy it when it comes.
I love it.
This is one of the most brutal blowouts I've ever seen.
I feel like you're exaggerating. Am I right?
No, I'm really not. It's been a long time since I've seen a basketball team up by 40.
...and this would be literally a perfect game.
Nebraska's strategy appears to have been to deny and collapse on the inside, giving up space at the arc. Bad idea.
#MAN down low.
All right. We're up by 41. Let's empty the bench. We aren't going to blow a 40 point lead in 11 minutes.
Are you kidding me?
You're not going to lose, but you don't want to play sloppy for 11 minutes and lose all momentum you created.
You don't EVER go away from your rotation until the under 8 media timeout...and even that is only Max B.
At the under 4 media timeout is when you go to the bench.
Bielfeldt in there.
Damn...this is the first I turned the basketball game on. What an ass beating.
Hope GR3 can take this into the tougher conference games and not disappear.
Michigan has 19 assists.
I'm only watching to see if we score 100 points. (please yes)
I'd rather us work on our zone and work on some of our wrinkles and then pull our starters with like 5 mins to ago.
Wait until the uneder 8 media timeout and put Max in...then at the under 4 you empty the bench.
if Bo Pelini tweeted at half time while getting blown out.

I realize that there is not a lot of pressure now, but this team's ability to shoot FT's is going to win a(nother) close game or two this year.
These guys almost beat us earlier this year?
NOT BUYING IT
We HAVE to maintain this for 5 more (gametime) minutes.
This reminds me of when the football team goes off against the team they play right before ohio state.
at some point, we are going to need something from someone not named Morford.
And, not too hard b/c there are not a lot of big guys to pick from
Nebraska will get Darkoed tonight.
Just turned the game on after I got outta work and was like "Fuckin'- What the fuckin'. Fuck. Who the fuck fucked this fucking... How did you two fucking fucks... Fuck!"
Certainly illustrates the diversity of the word - Love Boondock Saints!
Stauskas 1 for 3, but with 8 assists to go along with it.
Get on track.
...until he makes a couple shots.
C - Max B
PF - GRIII
SF - Irvin
SG - Stauskas
PG - LeVert
...time to give a little different look.
Nebraska can't hid the broadside of a barn - containing barrels of fish.
... next to the ocean.
But I'd still leave Stauskas in...
Let him make a couple shots and play with the bench guys and have a little fun...
C - Max B
PF - Irvin
SF - Stauskas
SG - Any walk on
PG - Dakich
Let's go boys!!!
Any shot is a good shot!
How did those tv guys forget about. Burke and Sullinger. When talking about former players who played to together in HS. It was only 2 years ago.
I feel like Max is the new Eso when it comes to garbage time chucking.
And I love it.
The game was not even as close as the final score will indicate.
Let's go boys!!!
Any shot is a good shot!
There is one black guy on the court and he plays for Nebraska.
I feel like that should be a sign of the apocalypse or something.
Are going to lose the 30 point lead. BULLSHIT!
well-done boys. Great to see Nik get a lot of stuff done without scoring, and great to see GRIII get 'er going. Would love to see that rerun a bunch of times.
He may be my 2nd favorite coach in the B1G.
Very classy guy. I applaud him as much as I despise Izzo, Crean and Ryan.
Perfect timing for a no-doubter.
Nebraska's coach looked extremely classy at the postgame.
I hope Michigan fans appreciate that as much as I despise/make fun of Nebraska.
Good game. Not great, but good. Obviously had shots fall tonight that did not fall against Indiana. Not looking forward to the next four games, I get so anxious. I hope to see more Irvin though. His smile was Denard-like (was great to see him and Devin in the stands too!!) after that last three. Loved it!
How not great? Great is a very reasonable word
Although to be fair, ilah17 did call Stauskas being held under 200.
Haha held under 200? He didn't even score 10, but we didn't need him to. I said not great because IMO they still played sloppy in the first half, a few bad passes and some steals given up. If they were playing great those things wouldn't have happened. I'm sure it seems like I'm being nitpicky since obviously most of the shots were falling and Nebraska's weren't, but we had more turnovers than Nebraska. That's not a great game to me no matter how many points you score.
for bouncing back from a horrible performance. We need a solid push for the title, and this is just what we needed. Irvin is not afraid to shoot, and I think his minutes should increase. The dude will be really good next year, as we have seen the difference between the frosh and soph years...
The elusive double post. (How I disdain your sneaky presence)
