LUGE LUGE LUGE LUGE LUGE LUGE

Luge and bobsled are the greatest racing sports ever in the history of man.

I stayed awake this morning just to watch the Luge.

The single most amazing thing

The single most amazing thing to me so far in these Olympics is that THIS chick is complaining she cant find anybody to hook up with to do the nasty.  WTF Olympians?????

Yes or no? Tinder is a location-based dating app that lets users browse for prospective partners nearby through profiles uploaded to the service. Users choose yes or no, and if there's a mutual match the app lets them know

no no

That hookup only happened in La Bomba's fantasies (daily, apparently).  When he met her, she gave him the ultimate cold shoulder.  Katarina is the classic bee-yatch of all time.  Props to her.

So here have a very pretty

So here have a very pretty young woman,  and she's spending the next two weeks in an athletes' village, where literally all she has to do is open her door and be social.  But she's trying instead to use Tinder and find another athlete online.

Kind of a sad commentary on modern society.

Does anyone else find it odd

Does anyone else find it odd that with the Olympics being in Russia that the Russian figure skaters would perform to music sung in English?

It would be easy enough to have it dubbed into Russian. Maybe on Russian TV it is in Russian.

The French skaters also performed to English versions.

Spoiler question:

What Pink Floyd tune did she skate to?

Stoners everywhere need to know; besides, by the time they show it on TV tonight, most of them will have forgotten the answer.

English-language music is

English-language music is popular all over Europe.  The skaters and their coaches may figure that it's good to choose a song that the judges/crowd are familiar with - or they might just like that particular song.

But really, it's the music, not the lyrics, that matters.

HROC (Hot Russian Olympic Chicks)

SIAP... but when it comes to hotties at Sochi, the Russkies got us all covered -- not only are they hot, but they have no compunction about undressing them for the camera.

These are just a few of the available pictures (SFW, unfortunately).

Hmmm . . . the pictures "are

Hmmm . . . the pictures "are making us uncomfortable," says the author?  I found them perfectly comforting myself.

A huge number of figure

A huge number of figure skaters/ice dancers (from all over the world) train in either Bloomfield Hills or Novi.  It's pretty cool.

Man NBC coverage sucks. They just had the medal ceremony for women's moguls and I guess the American tv market would rather watch a man behind a desk and commercials than to see a bronze. Maybe it was only bc they can't stand having the Canadian national anthem (as two of those sisters claimed the gold and silver) blaring over the air.

NBC showed the finals last night

All skiers, not a shortened version. The US skier was very upset as this was here last event. (She's retiring)

Destroyed other ice dancers in team event

114.34 was highest score ever.  They will dominate the individual ice dance event.

I will admit. I don't have

I will admit. I don't have the eye to judge them. But just watching them, eye test. They are great. And I really have never even watched figure skating.

That 15 yr old Russian looked great in Ladies as well.

Amazing they just set a high score in free- and they no doubt have more set aside for the individual competition

That's why you can tell they're so great

You don't have to know a thing about what they're doing and you simply know.

That was as part of a team competition.  They were first in their part of it but the U.S. team is not going to win gold.

For the record...

  • This is the format we had in mind.
  • One of the ladies (or men with an appreciation for it) is going to make this thread one morning and things will get real awkward up in here, which will cause me to chuckle several times at least.

What the hell, NBC showing women's 3000m speed skating again

Speed skating on

Womans speed skating finals on NBC currently. We have a person in 10th and 24th place. Don't think we have ever been great on the womans side have we?

Bonnie Blair

from Champaign, IL. IIRC, she was Gold (Jerry) in two Olympics awhile back.

There is a commercial running with a little girl who makes a sign for her WI town. Her mom is a skater; the advertiser thinks she is good enough to run this spot.

Would have more info, but I'm on my phone.

I'm probably behind on this but I just watched the Downhill Men's during primetime. Bodie Miller started great but fell behind and off the podium. Bummer, was hoping he'd snag the gold.
