Agreed. I am sick of people complaining about Carr. It isn't his team anymore. Let's stop placing the blame on him. If Rich started winning right away with Carr's players we would not be giving Lloyd praise. Does Dungy get a ring when Gruden won the superbowl with Dungy's players...No. I understand this is satire and a joke but lets focus on the positive things this week.

I'm the Woody Hayes of websites: If you have an Ohio State fan site, I'm not clicking on it and helping you profit. In this case I'll just assume it's tl;dr (too lame; didn't read).

This is a post on an Ohio State website. If you dont' care what they are saying then don't click it. If it makes you angry then all the better for the game. Or are you so beat down at this point that you want to bury your head in the sand so be it.

blame Bill Martin. Carr was ready to retire some time before the '07 season (rumors have it going all the way back to the end of the '03 season) and Martin begged him to stay. Carr did some great things for this university and the football program. He's an outstanding human being who should be honored, not attacked even after he has been retired for two years.

That was quite a rant. I especially liked when he said: "When Rich Rodriguez is finally able to get rid of some of your dead weight--like Brandon Graham, Mike Martin, Donovan Warren and Brandon Minor, then this team will really start to shine." So our chances of succees are greater once our best players are gone..... He also said Lloyd chased out Threet who didn't even play for Carr. The final thing that shows how well informed he is: He states that Chad Henne and Terrel Pryor played in a much different era than Tate is playing in now......Pryor was a freshman last year. This rant=FAIL!

Oh my God. Did you read Swift's "A Modest Proposal" and believe that he was actually in favor of eating children? It's a fucking satire. He's saying that our chances of success are NOT better with those players gone. He's saying that Henne and Pryor did NOT play in a different era than Tate is playing in now. He's saying that Carr did NOT chase out Threet. You could not have missed the point more.

a poster with 1631+ mgopoints didnt realize this was sarcasm speaks to the volumes of how far people's heads are up their own asses that we actually believe that this is lloyds fault. honestly, with all this the crap being spewed on this blog that lloyd is to blame and granting rr a free pass, its not surprising that something dripping with sarcasm can still go unnoticed by many on this blog.

And unfortunately, sarcasm was killed while at the funeral. Now, don't forget that a LOT of guys here are Scouties--and King Beaver feeds the fire constantly about the Big Bad Guys out to get UM, and he allows the idiots there to go on and on about how Lloyd is one of them. Thy bring that shit over here--along with their dumb dumb-ness.

Whoops.....I guess I am a little slow this morning. But Barcos, I wouldn't lump many people on this blog in with me as my numbness is due mostly to the fact that I was on call last night and got no sleep. I think I am probably unique in being so dumb in this instance..... my sarcasm meter today=FAIL!

period. Reading him back out of the "leaving the offense bare" is classic... "Nevermind that you left a five star and a four star quaterback..." Really, that quite a never mind. And nevermind that Tressel only brought in 52 defensive recruits, "that is completely different.." Support please. Very strange.

I guess I should have explained further in the post instead of just saying "Nice Satire". Normally I wouldn't post links to OSU websites, but I actually do read Michigan Monday weekly to give me at least a little perspective on what the enemy thinks. This article caught my eye, and I thought it was well done for Satire. Just to be clear: It is satire and the writer is praising Lloyd Carr in a back handed sort of way that is either a shot at RR or the fans who still don't give Carr much credit. Either way it is a good counterpoint to what we see on this board regularly as long as you know it is Satire or realize it. Although clearly it is confusing that an Ohio State blogger is actually praising Carr is some fashion.

...where this "article" has a place on this board, other than maybe the trash can or the iggy bin. IMHO, this board is much like the country we live in and those who are here should either love it or leave it. If any UM fan that visits this board needs more of a reason to be angry toward those worthless nuts in Ohio, then I am forced question their loyalty. I hate them, plain and simple, no exaggeration. Always have, always will. Also, my comment is not meant to be a shot at the OP, sorry if it comes across that way. It is more of a, "Just sayin'..." The Team. The Team. The Team. And as members of this blog, we are a part (albeit a minute part) of The Team! Link just because it ROCKS... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnSOwvj24M0

While my sarcasm meter was way F'ed up earlier, my irony detector is working well. I find it funny that you are, in this post, essentially telling a poster to shut up and then a few post down you are beating the drum of free speech. Not only beating that drum but telling a guy what his "role" is or is not on this board. I am all for free speech and people saying whatever it is they want on this or other boards, but perhaps it is you who should stop talking for a while Champ. Before you.....you know.....contradict yourself again.

Fuzzy Dunlop

I'm not telling him to shut up. I'm telling him that what he said was stupid, using a quote from a movie. There's a difference between saying that a topic is off limits and saying that what someone has to say on a given topic is idiotic. And by the way, I don't think your irony detector is working nearly as well as you think. The poster that I am responding to here said that "this board is much like the country we live in and those who are here should either love it or leave it." So basically, he is trying to stamp out dissent. So my response to him was very much a strike FOR free speech, not against it. See how that works? I get that you're upset about being embarrassed a few posts up, but let's not pick silly fights.

I understood it was sarcasm. I just didn't know why you were posting it because the description was simply "nice sarcasm." I guess I incorrectly assumed that you were posting it as yet another shot fired in the "who is most at fault for our current predicament - Lloyd or RR?" battle which, in my opinion, comes up a bit too often around here. (I usually don't participate in those, but understand why people want to debate the topic.) With those assumptions in mind, I responded suggesting this week was not the time to continue the discussion.

Fuzzy Dunlop

It was funny. People should feel free to post funny things on the boards. And even if it had prompted a discussion about something that you feel is not worthwhile (which is hasn't), it's not your role to be the protector of the boards -- people can discuss whatever they wish to discuss here, and if it's a topic that you don't like, feel free to abstain.

November 19th, 2009 at 11:54 AM ^

Thanks for telling me my role. I'm glad your role is to put people in their place and explain the function of the message board. While I agree that people can discuss whatever the hell they want here, I don't see anything wrong with saying, "come on guys...do you really want to have the most divisive argument possible during OSU week?" And, I don't see how doing that equals me trying to function as the protector of boards. But, as I tried to make clear before, I misunderstood because it was posted with little comment, and erred in assuming the worst. FWIW, I didn't think it was very funny, but obviously some people do, and that's obviously fine, too.

It seems some, not necessarily you, don't think this even has a place on the blog. I would point to two things. 1) This is Ohio State week so what they are saying, I feel is relevant and worthy of a link. and 2) The board already links to other Big 10 blogs, including Ohio State. It's not like it was linked to the Detroit Free Press website. And in fact you are correct; it is somewhat of a continuation of the discussion you don't like. I understand how you don't want to participate and continue the "who's at fault for the current predicament". This does fire a shot in that debate and also from an OSU perspective. I don't like to place blame in the debate and I won't but I do think that Lloyd is getting shortchanged in the debate. And, I tend to agree with the writer's satire in that 1) Lloyd Carr doesn't get enough credit for what he did at Michigan; 2) Lloyd Carr didn't purposely leave a horrible defense to RR, and 3)it is kind of ridiculous to believe that Lloyd Carr wanted to sabotage the Michigan Program. Also please note for Tags on this, I labeled as: O-How I Hate-Ohio State.

Is it really necessary to knock Carr (or Harbaugh) (or Miles) to show support for Rich Rod? Stop being pussies. Carr gave his heart and soul to the team under Bo. Then under Mo. Then took over under trying circumstances. Had a record to match Bo's. Won a national championship. Beat Tebow the Sainted in his final game. Represented the program and the university in a way that was above reproach. I wish the same for RR.

I was once thinking about going into college coaching (i was a d3 player), so I called Lloyd Carr to ask him some questions. The man dropped everything and had a twenty minute phone coversation with me, in the middle of recruiting season. Think Rich Rodriguez would have made time for a nobody like I was? Lloyd is one of the all time great Michigan men.
