One Shining Moment: Michigan

Submitted by shorts on

Hello, MGoBoard/MGoBlog. Some of you may remember me as the guy who did the 2010 "Sometimes When You're On" football video and then promised to make another one but never did (dang family/work getting in the way of side projects).

Anyway, it occurred to me at some point late in the tourney that a Michigan-centric version of "One Shining Moment" would be pretty much the greatest thing ever; alas, CBS thought Louisville, being the winner and all, would be a better choice. Boo. So I decided to make it happen on my own. It took a few days to compile everything, a few days to do it and a few days to get the kinks ironed out, but it exists at this link ...

... and I will now (probably unsuccessfully) attempt to embed it here for your viewing pleasure. So before totally focusing on the GRIII/McGary-led 2014 team, here's one last display of gratitude to 2012-13 Michigan basketball.

I have watched it a few times over the years... each year. It captures the era... I watch it these days to be thankful for what we are seeing as the team transforms... Great work on both videos.

On a completely unrelated note, I love Shorts. Really wish it was distributed in Chicago. Thankfully I was able to get several sixers in Michigan last weekend. I can't wait to hit up the pub over Memorial Day weekend. That is all

Big fan of Sometimes When You're On here. That video did a great job of summarizing the ups and downs of that tumultuous year.

And this one absolutely lived up to that standard. Thankfully this one's is much happier overall! (5-1 in the Big Dance is great no matter how nice it would have been to win it all)

Sincere thanks for the effort; it turned out really well.

First...  thank you. The Sometimes When You're On video was absolutely amazing, and still gives me the chills sometimes when I watch it. It still comes to mind at random times during footbaw or hoops season, and I love it. I still send it to people, and embed it here from time to time.

That said, this one didn't really do it for me. The quality is outstanding, both the sequencing and the overall theme, but the music just fell flat IMO. It just doesn't have that grab you by your neck and make you pay attention quality, for me at least. I don't mean to be critical, but I don't like being dishonest and felt the need to share my feedback.

Again, thank you.

No worries. I know "One Shining Moment" is kind of a love-it-or-hate-it song; I just happen to love it, so I figured there'd be some people on here who would appreciate it too.

I agree completely, and like you, I'm still really appreciative of the work done and can understand the editing talent this MGoBlogger has.  And I enjoyed the video... but the music kept it from being special-special.

This was exactly what I needed. The whole season was terrific, the march run amazing, and I was fortunate to attend the final four games. But after the final loss I was really bummed. Over the past week the bitter taste of the final game left me, and I started to appreciate the sweetness of the season again.

And this video fully put that sweetness back into the forefront again.

Gracias

I am really going to miss this team.  I don't know that I've ever followed a team that so often just had me with nothing to do but smile as I watched.

Oh, and great video.

Your 2010 video is still my favorite.  This one is excellent, with superb editing to match the music.  However, I can't say I like the song - sorry.  Before I watched this one, I watched the 2010 video and got excited hearing "Sometimes you're on" imagining that this would be the song for the 2013 bball team, with the shirts and all... it just made perfect sense.

So, those are my thoughts.  Not hating - I think you are very talented and we appreciate your work.
