One of my first interactions with OSU Fan

Submitted by MichfaninWisc on

Living in Wisconsin, I havnt meet many buckeye fans (which I wont complain about).  Yesterday, I was working, which happens to be a local retail store, and was filling out information on a customer. I was filling out where he was from and I noticed he was from Ohio.  So I had to ask if he was a buckeye fan, in which he replayed yes.  I laughed out loud and sarcastically said "that sucks for you".  He seemed confused cause it is wisconsin, but i told him i was borned and raised in Michigan.  Without saying a word, he angrily stormed away.  A little later I noticed he was talking to my manager, inwhich I later found out he complained about me being "unprofessional" and "disgraceful" to him, and he wont shop here again. My manager being a big sports fan laughed it off later and understood.  But you got to be kidding me, cant the guy take a joke?  Does he really got to be all pissy and complain?  Ohio sucks

I live in Ohio and my husband and I are die hard fans.  We get this all the time from sales clerks, strangers on the street, drivers.  What you said is nothing compared to what we hear.  We usually laugh it off and make sure to give them a loud, "Go Blue!"

I used to bartend at a campus bar at OSU.  My in-laws are all rabid Buckeye fans.  If I do nothing else in this life, I pledge to provide my 6 month old son with a way out of these slums...

I guess its what I get for moving down here.  In all seriousness though, Buckeye fans are rabid, but as long as you surround yourself with cool ones, its actually a lot of fun.  Or it would be.  If we ever beat them...

"Michigan vs Ohio State"? I think much of what is attributed to Woody is probably lore, but even his own players and coaches thought he was a little nutty. To whit, it is said that he: - Wouldn't stop for gas in the state of Michigan during a recruiting trip. - Claimed that female servers at a pre-Game OSU team dinner were plants by Bo. - Claimed Bo switched to a new shoe and changed the turf to screw up the Buckeyes. - Wouldn't even say the name of the state, ("that state 'up north'"). While most of that is harmless, you mix in a bit of the MIB factor, (i.e. "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky animals, and you know it") and, well, you get the Modern Day Buckeye Fan.

...why?

Are you saying Woody didn't have, or at least portray, a ridiculous hatred for all things Michigan?  He wouldn't even say University of Michigan, he wouldn't let the bus driver stop for gas in the state of Michigan, he went for 2 with a 7 TD lead because he "couldn't go for 3"...his hatred was so ridiculous it almost comes off like a WWF shtick.  Woody certainly respected (some might say loved) Bo, but he seemed to hate Michigan with a passion beyond reason, and I firmly believe the OSU fanbase adopted the attitude of their iconic coach.

Contrast that with Bo, who, despite likely wanting to beat OSU more than he wanted to breathe, always respected the Ohio State program.  I believe Michigan fans adopted the attitude of their iconic coach, and that's why I feel there's a decided disparity in hatred in the rivalry.  I'd like to say it's because Ohioans are all dumb hicks (except those with the good sense to get out of the state at their first opportunity) and Michiganders are the finest people on earth, but if Woody had coached in Ann Arbor instead of Columbus and maintained the irrational hatred for his biggest rival, I think the tables would likely be turned.

I guess you completely disagree?

Memorable run ins with OSU fans I've had...

Once when I was at a Panda Express, one of the workers there was an OSU grad. I was wearing a Michigan shirt and he informed me that he was an OSU grad and no one likes Michigan. I asked him to scoop my goddamn rice and told him to enjoy his degree.

When I was an undergrad, after a home loss, a group of OSU fans got in my face as I was walking back to South Quad. I decked one, got hit from behind by another, and wrestled a third to the ground by another before a number of people broke up the fight.

I hate them so much....

I'm far from a hardass. You must really enjoy being a cock.

I mean seriously, just go back to the 'scorn and continue bashing everyone who posts on mgoblog from afar, seeing as it's so bad here, and all of us in the proletariat have ruined it for you.

OK.

I just thought it funny that you would "relate" to a story in which ane mployee of a business made fun of a patron about their college cheering interests with...a story in which you took offense at an employee of a business making fun of your college rooting interest.

And the fight story was just way too funny.

Look, feel any way you want to about my story. I think you're a smart guy, in fact, I agree with most of what you say. I just get sick of the attitude and your M.O. sometimes. It's played out and tiresome. You've been doing to same thing for years. Evolve.

EDIT: I mean, I will readily admit that WLA bashing is also played out and tiresomme, and I will apologize for doing so, but it's just that it has gotta stop.

Or it could just be that, instead of some grand conspiracy I have enacted to horde all of the mgopoints, a number of people don't particularly care for the boorish behavior you have consistently exhibited within this thread, even if it is in jest (some people might not get that).

As an aside, for someone who couldn't care less about mgopoints, an awful lot of your posts seem to be devoted to them.

EDIT: I just went through and pos'd all of your posts on this thread. Happy?
