I mean, based on last year's performance and the freshmen qbs how could we be expected to be anything at the beginning of the season. We've run off four straight and are ranked which is reasonable. But UNDERATED?? That implies we should be higher up in the standings and until we show a little more on D and beat some better competition, I think thats a hard argument to make.

The article means we were underrated coming into the season, which clearly is true, not that we are underrated now. I think the article also is right we came out a winner this weekend. As the article said, for a program with young players in the middle of rebuilding, "a win is a win." The way that game went, we easily could have lost and that would have been extremely tough to swallow. So pulling out a win at the end was big. Also, Penn State lost. Now, all we need is for OSU to drop a game and the two favorites to win the Big Ten will both have a conference loss.

Fla St goes toe-to-toe w/ Miami, barely escapes Jacksonville St, Goes into Provo and destroys BYU Loses to South Florida. That Iowa team that won today almost lost to Northern Iowa. Yeah, it looks like every week is gonna be an adventure for Mich, but at least we've got 4-0 behind us.

Don't get me wrong; I love what the team is doing. I love reveling in the wins, even if I suspect we're not the better team. But until we show a defense capable of stopping more than Western Michigan, I don't think we're underrated. We're 2-0 in shootouts thus far, how long do you think we can keep it up? /realist.

Forever haha as the guy in row 4 section 24 in front of me yelled to the bench when we were down 5. "Offense keep your heads up, You are the most prolific Offense in Football you will go out there and score." That got a good applause.

Young teams have really volatile confidence levels, so to get a win like this today is definitely going to help Tate and a lot of the young guys. I think the offense can continue to execute well and play better, but I just don't know what more the defense is capable of at this point. If we win another game, we may end up pretty overrated currently going into Iowa.

So say we win against MSU. I think the betting line in Vegas will still have us as underdogs vs. Iowa, and I think that line would be correct. If, otoh, Vegas has as as favorites vs. Iowa and the line reflects this, I would DEF think we would be overrated, and would be tempted to bet against Michigan w/ real money. (Tempted, but ultimately, can never bet against Michigan.)

While that Iowa win was on National TV, don't give poll voters that much credit. They don't seem to make much sense sometimes, especially this early in the season. As for us being underrated going into the season, sure. But who, besides the MGoCommunity, really thought Michigan would be any good this year after last year's nightmare?
