I bet he thought he'd be eating better than this once he arrived at college.........haha.

I had a nearly identical version of that shirt...except it had a Nike swoosh. It was one of the early synthetic fiber shirts, so it smelled horribly after about 10 wears--regardless of how I washed it.

Its nice how they cut the Grill on the Hill basket out of the bottom of the picture. That definitely contained a burger/hot dog with fries.

And going off MoJo's menu for today it appears that he is roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, and grilled zucchini as well as his assorted plate of veggies.

This thread also reminded me that I'll have to eat MoJo food for a month starting on the 22nd when my MMSS counselor job starts.

Both of my kids toured Michigan during their college selection process. They had probably toured 15 or 20 other colleges first. The dorms and the dorm food were among the worst we saw. Both of them were accepted but neither one chose my alma mater, much to my disappointment. I don't think food or housing was the main reason for them, but it would have been for me.  And don't get me on that lousy stadium food again.

And all I wanted in the food department was enough. But my kids are out-of-state, and for the cost of going to Michigan they could also go to many fine private colleges. So their comparisons were not to other Big State U's, but the comparisons (two and three years ago) were not favorable (regarding just dorms and food). I wonder if the people who down-voted my post have been around enough to know, because I'll bet that not many of them have seen as many colleges as I have in the last three years.

Don't remember if this was a one-off thing or not, but on MLK Day, they had a Martin Luther King theme dinner in East Quad at least.

They served fried chicken, collard greens, ham hocks, black eyed peas.  For real.

It was *really* good and I'd eat it again in a heartbeat (or maybe lack thereof, considering the cholesterol content!), but me and my friends were agape at how thoroughly they managed to hit all the stereotypes for Black food.  Not the most offensive thing that's ever been done, but I was minorly shocked they got away with serving that menu.  Seriously, the only thing missing was watermelon.

I see where you are coming from, but "soul food" is a recognized, non-derogatory, non-pejorative, and might I add freaking delicious category of food.   I understand why you'd be uncomfortable with a dinner based on "let's serve food that black people like!"  but there was a legitimate traditional food theme for the menu you saw.

I once trooped a busload of high school counselors around on a week-long tour of colleges.  Any campus where we ate, they trotted out their nicest banquet food to impress us.  We got heartily sick of that stuff.  At the end of the week we visited an HBCU which said screw the fancy wedding reception fare, we're serving soul food.  You've never seen a more grateful bus full of people.

If you want moderately offensive, my campus used to have "hillbilly night' which included RC Cola and moon pies.  It was not the most politically correct label for the dinner,  but it was always a hit.

Did Ondre say what his weight is right now or what his target weight is?  I remember him talking about the Army All-American game last year where he said he played at 360 lbs.

We got two meals a day, one on Sunday in the dorms back in the day.  Quality could be summed up by once my piece of chicken coming complete with a feather (I am not making that up).

Thank god for five buck a case Goebel.  I would've lost even more weight without it.

Now all of you youngsters kindly remove yourself from the grassy area in front of my house.

Diet food is really just not eating junk food.  If he spends most of his time in the wheight room this summer he's going to have to consume large quantities of protein!

It's also the portion. You can eat tons of "healthy" food and gain weight. I agree with you though, assuming he's doing his part in summer conditioning, an aggressive low-cal diet is probably not necessary
