Ondre Pipkins among SI's Freshman 15

DT Ondre Pipkins, Michigan: Veteran defensive tackle Will Campbell, a former five-star recruit who hasn't lived up to the hype to this point, slimmed down and worked hard this offseason so he can prove why he was rated so high coming out of high school. At the same time, Campbell also has taken Pipkins under his wing. His goal? Help the 340-pound freshman avoid the pitfalls that hindered Campbell. This is all fine and good, as long as Campbell also encourages Pipkins to continue honing his Brady Hoke impression. With a little practice, Pipkins-as-Hoke could rival former Alabama receiver Rob Ezell's Nick Saban impression.

Let's hope Staples is right because Michigan is going to need Ondre to be a legitimate rotation player this season.  GO BLUE!

I had high hopes when I first saw the thread.  I assumed someone would provide a bit of evidence to back up the claim.  Maybe he paraphrased a MGoTalkingPoint on ESPN or something.  Maybe the OP noticed a trend or something interesting like that.

I had seen that video a million times, but it's still awesome.  Also, love that we have a player nicknamed PeeWee, and that he's wearing a cowboy hat in this.  All of those things make that impression even better. 

I'm trying to remember, but I think maybe he borrowed the hat from Kalis?

Much respect to BWC, wanting to help PeeWee out.  I know we all want Will to have a break out season, but his growth as a leader on this team deserves some recognition.  Congrats to PeeWee on being recognized by SI.

Such as having your redshirt completely wasted by the previous staff on occasional special teams play and spot DL duty. This should not be WC's last season. It was a major fuckup in player utilization by RR and his staff.

not to mention not having any functional defensive coaches your first two and being switched to offense halfway through your second year. I would call those pretty huge also.

Campbell wanting to ensure that Pipkins gets some of the support and leadership that he may not have received at the outset is great, as well as wanting to make sure Pipkins, as Staples put it, "avoids the pitfalls that hindered Campbell. It's been discussed before, but that speaks to Will's growth as a team leader going into his final year here. Between Campbell and this staff, Pipkins is in great hands and this article recognizes that.

Also, I had never seen the Saban impersonation by Ezell - he has the tone and gesticulations down basically, eerily accurate actually, which makes it a pretty amusing clip really.
