Here's the thread for today for any/all news as it arrives.
so much for that
Thanks but the problem with that is I don't have cable and you need a cable TV account to log on to that site, which sucks.
I found a live stream for Women's Gymnastics here:

Epic tennis match going on between Tsonga (France) and Raonic (Canada). It's 19-19 (!) in the decisive third set. Longest set in Olympic history.
If you're not in the US use the BBC stream. Blows NBC away.
Is there a legit bbc stream? If so, link?

And BOOM. Gold for the women's gymnastics team. Amazing performances from all of them.
The marathon tennis match continues. 23-23 now in the third and final set.
Wieber was an amazing team leader today. After the difficult day she had in the individual qualifying and being heartbroken after being eliminated on a dumb rule, she was encouraging and leading her teammates throughout the whole day, always smiling and hugging them.
I was blown away by her leadership today.
US Women beat DPRK 1-0 in soccer.
Next big event today is men's basketball vs. Tunisia at 5:15 PM EST.
Any other events today people are looking forward to?

Men's Swimming - Butterfly. Phelps going for his first gold. I think it starts pretty soon.
Huge thanks, wouldn't wanna miss that.
Man, there's so much going on it's almost difficult to follow it all.

I really wish they'd spread out the swimming events, instead of cramming them all into the first week of the Olympics. The swimming events are some of my favorites to watch but I always end up missing a lot of them.
The same could be said for track and field as well....they don't even start until week 2. But I think there is good reasons for having it this way...first, it is convenient for athletes in the sense that they can enjoy the olympic experience by having opportunities to watch other events and number 2, it is best for the fan experience (on site anyways), they get a few hours of each discipline (i.e. swimming, running, etc.) as opposed to one event at a time
It's a country about the size of Iowa--the size and quality they consistently get out of that population base is hard to believe.
Funny I think if Iowa put together a squad as a state it'd be able to compete with many of the countries internationally.
I don't mean any rip at Iowa basketball. They'd be very very good as states of that size go (maybe the best) but like any group of 2.5 -3 million not namd Chicago or Brooklyn or Queens they still wouldn't have any depth. Collison, Hinrich, Harrison Barnes--that's a good core but I don't think the full squad would be an automatic qualifier out of Europe the way Lithuania seems to be.
They've made the last four in every Olympics they've been eligible for, five in a row. That streak will probably be broken this year, but still they've probably been the second most successful Oympic team over the last 20 years. I don't know how they do it--they don't have any demographic advantages: no US army bases, no former colonies to recruit citizens from.
Also of note, Charlie Houchin, a UofM grad, made his Olympic debut in the 4x200 freestyle relays today. Team USA won the heat, so if they can win the finals tonight (Charlie prob will not swim), he can get a gold medal!
Phelps had it and he blew it... Silver by 5 hundredths of a second..
Class of 2014
No doubt. Phelps had the lead but short-armed the touch. Le Clos stretched out and won it. Amazing.
Crappy NBC feed froze after about 25m and didn't recover until after the race was over.
Lochte did his job in the 4x200 relay. I wasn't expecting such a big lead after the first leg.
That gives Phelps the most olympic medals.
any other events to compete in?
He qualified in the same eight events that he swam in Beijing in 2008 but dropped the 200-meter freestyle, which means that he still has three more.
Still no gold medals for the British (and only four total). That drought should end tomorrow - they've got some strong contenders (particularly in rowing and the cycling time trial), but their Olympic committee has already revised down its projection from 70 to 60 total medals.
Halftime margin of USA-Tunisia basketball: USA by 13.
Margin after 3 quarters: USA by 38.
That third quarter was nuts - 1992-esque.
Yes Im happy our ladies gymnastics team won gold but STOP CALLING THEM THE FAB FIVE...
We hate Michigan State. We don't like Penn State too. We don't care for Minnesota, Wisconsin or Notre Dame but we all hate O-S-U.
Michigan Blue 2008 block M hockey jersey still for sale for 50.00. FREE S/H
Does anyone know where I can watch a live stream?
