OL Jamarco Jones text that his announcement will be at 1pm at his school on June 27.
Jamarco Jones says he is still planning on visits to finalists Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Ohio State before the announcement
Old news... Hope we can land him though!
How is this old news if Jones just texted his decision date and visit plans out? Are you from the future? Did we land Da'Shawn Hand? What about Adoree or Artavis? Did Brady Hoke develop a triple point manuever?? So much I want to know...
It's old news because it was reported a few weeks ago. I don't have a link at the moment, but it is indeed old news.
You're right. It is old news. Very old news actually.
Here's an article from May 6th talking about the June 27th commitment date, and his desire to visit all of his finalists before he commits. Wonder why reporters were treating it as something new?
I officially retract my jackass-y comments.
Thank You for finding that..TBH I was looking around so I could post a link, so I actually had facts to back up my statement and I couldn't find it haha
Edit: Here is a tweet that is also pretty old..May 12th
Next month is going to be big. My birthday, a couple visits then making my college choice!
Yeah, looking back this is basically all the same news that came out of the May 5th Chicago Nike camp. He announced his final four, a decision date, and plans to visit all four schools there. Maybe the 1pm time for the announcement was the new "news."
In regards to the Brady Hoke thing. He did invent the three point manuever and when asked about it all he had to say was this:
"We just had to beat Ohio. I know we were ahead by a few scores in the game but I wanted to one up Moody Fayes (he refuses to say his name). You know in the '68 game he went for two and said because he 'couldn't go for three'. Well, I accomplished something he didn't againtst his rival...I WENT FOR THREE!" -Brady Hoke, November 2013 after his 44-10 win over Ohio.
If you don't have something insightful to say on this board, you rip the OP for starting the topic.
Too bad there is no one here ripping the OP.. Unless simply stating that it was already reported a couple weeks ago is ripping on him. Which it probably is sense there is a lot of touchy ppl on here
Good one. I'm so mad now that some random person on the internet thinks I am a dick.
So 3 weekends till his decision, someone is getting a weekday visit I would think. With school ending though I guess it wouldn't really mean a lot.
to get a Jamarco weekday fly-by
I hope he goes to Sparty. Pains me to say it, but they really need a win. I'm beginning to feel bad for them.
I would be shocked if he goes to state. Players with offers from the Midwest big 3 rarely turn them all down to go with Sparty. I will never feel bad for them.
That they were still in the discussion. And I would be shocked if he goes there too. But after Leonard Marshall's amazing trolling of them, I felt bad.
I guess I have recruiting-privileged guilt, or something.
MSU doesn't deserve nice things
And no one deserves the punishment of Magenta Brian Kelly, so I went with them. I'd root for Illinois or someone even more needy as the charity school, but MSU was the only choice Jones presented.
Come now. Flamebait I get, and dont object to, but trolling?
The only way I hope any recruit chooses Sparty is if he changes his mind at the last minute on NSD. For that matter, I would love it if every single one of Sparty's recruits reneged and signed with someone else on NSD.
Or am i confusing him with someone else?
Confusing him with Ward
What happened to Ward anyway? Nevermind, i will lougle it
Yes, lougle it. That is a loud idea.
I don't think you got the HTTM reference.
I think you're right. I don't even know what HTTM means, but I assume it refers to a TV show or movie. TBH, I thought maybe he had a funky typo via smartphone or something. My bad.
I think that was Lawrence Marshall.
Edit: Nevermind, you meant our one time OL commit, Denzel Ward. Marshall was committed to OSU shortly at one point.
Would be a huge get and solidify another great OL haul. Go blue, Jamarco.
I think it's a Michigan/Ohio State battle but I could be wrong.
11W saying "lock" is a good omen, right?
Not really. If any school has a lead right now it is probably OSU.
I thought he recently said that Ohio does not have a lead and that he doesn't know where that vibe is coming from? That said, he could be trying to keep the suspense up, but hopefully it's still wide open.
Edit: someone said the same thing below.
It would be fun to get this guy just for the server-splitting meltdown 11 Warriors would experience.
Has there really been any buzz for a particular school with this kid? I recall reading here that he was an OSU lean, but the M Block quoted him saying he's not.
Regardless, it seems unlikely to me he will go blue, if only because there really hasn't been much of a vibe here on this board. Here's to hoping he pulls a Marshall.
He is sitting at 23 for 23 to Ohio State according to 247's Crystal Ball. Their track record isn't great so far, but that is as much of a lock as it gets with their Crystal Ball (most players have between 0-10 predictions, so 23 is on the high side).
the m block quote is to be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. as we know, 17 year old kids tend to say what they think their interveiwers want to hear. just like jabrill peppers in the days leading up to his announcement said that he was wide open and that michigan was not his leader. we know that wasn't true. seems similer with winovich and countless other examples. i'm not saying that he is leaning towards OSU, but i am saying that that the m block quote isn't worth the paper it's written on and therefore you should discount appropriately.
Good thing I didn't print it off.
I believe that if we get him on campus we have a chance but looks to be all buckeye so far.
Sorry this is off Topic but today I graduated today from High School! I will be taking my talents to Kalamazoo College!
K College the former home of Glenn from The Walking Dead
given that I have read in the past few days quite a few M-friendly tweets from him. The bet right now is the bucs get him.
Nice to see Tampa Bay recruiting well this year.
He does seem to have alot of Michigan stuff on his twitter. I am probably just seeing what I want to though.
I'd love to have him, but it wouldn't be a huge loss if he commits elsewhere. There's a lot of future maulers on our roster right now, and the depth going forward looks like its where it needs to be.
i don't disagree with you, but we are starting to wade into "11 warriors" territory (i.e., when we realize that we aren't going to get someone we want, we may start rationalizing that we don't need him anyways or that he's not that great). while we have a lot of depth, it's a huge loss in that it's a big gain for ohio state. for that reason alone i want him badly. also, we need tackles. differing reports on whether this kid is a tackle or not but, if he is, me want.
A little ashamed to say it but perhaps too big a part of me wanting him is my desire for Ohio to continue failing on the Oline recruiting trail. We all know how neglecting the lines turns out in the end.
no shame in that. OL depth is a huge question mark for them and to lose another target would be bad for them, good for us.
Not the same at all. Their rationalization is "O well, urbz cooled on that top 5 player." The previous poster is saying while he doesn't like our chances with Jones, it's not really the end of the world for UM. We have depth and talent at the OL positions and while he is a good player, he is not near the talent level of a Peppers/Hand.
...Would be AWESOME if he came to Michigan, but I'm not liking our chances at the moment. That said, I didn't like our chances with Winovich 3-4 weeks ago either and we closed in a hurry, maybe we can do the same.
If Jones picks ohio, who are the remaining O-linemen UM is looking at?
Touch the Banner has a listing of all our 2014 offers by posish.
Thanks for the information. Does anyone know where we stand with our other O-linemen offers?
Our best shots appear to be with Jamarco Jones, Roderick Johnson, and Casey Tucker. Were playing from behind on all three, it would seem. All other offered offensive linemen have either eliminated Michigan or we were never in the running, anyway.
Michigan has not offered Andrew Mike, but they have bumped up interest recently, perhaps because the coaches realize options are getting limited.
very good, and I keep hearing Ohio for him, but stranger things have happened.
Jones would be a dominant OG, especially in a system that is primarily a man blocking scheme. I think he would be incorrectly utilized (though still a very good player) in a predominately zone scheme. He could only make a pretty good OT, though I think if he does move to tackle it would have to be RT, but he doesn't really have the lateral movement, length, or foot speed to maximize his upside.
Did u do one on peppers
I just started it very recently, I'm working my way through quite a few players. My hope is not to simply do recruiting things, either, I want to actually get into more football specifics. I'm also still working on multiple things for maize n brew, so I'm keeping pretty busy working on everything.
FYI: I linked to your blog from TTB.
Many people said the exact same thing...
Schilling was VERY solid during his days at Michigan. And he got drafted, correct?
To people wondering what the news is, I think it's that he established he will be announcing a 1:00.
OSU better hope they land this kid. If I was a buckeye fan and OSU missed out on Jones here, I'd start worrying about what the next recruiting class was going to look like.
Say in a perfect world, UM gets Hand and McDowell, there is no way OSU fans can be confident in saying Meyer outrecruited Hoke this year. I've been amazed at the talent that UM's coaching staff has been able to reel in thus far.
