OK - this is kinda new Harbaugh info

Submitted by team126 on

Many people have been hitting F5 all morning so I spied on another site and found a comment like this:

Sources within Schembechler Hall said to look for a very special announcement at halftime of the Illinois BBall game on Dec. 30th.
Sounds about right (as a rumor)

I talked to my guy this morning.  Everyone is very optimistic.   The only concern that is on the radar is if the Raiders go for a blockbuster offer.

I asked if we think that will happen?   "It's probably less than 50%"    There are a few people that believe the Raiders will go "all in" on Jim.   Offer nearly everything he wants plus an option to exit if the Raiders move.   Others think that the Raiders are a little more rational now and will make a good offer but it will be "far short of Michigan's offer."

If they did offer Jim, would he even listen?   He believes that if it's a "blockbuster" then he probably would ... but if it's a normal $3-4MM one.  He won't listen and will be on a plane to aa.

One thing that I guess i didn't know is that the NFL tampering rules are strict and enforced. SF would like to see Jim at Michigan vs. NFL team ... so there are no backroom, merry xmas conversations going on.

I'm going to talk with him again on Friday ... i'll post the results.

Just wondering if you post on other boards. I have seen 3-5 different versions that all basically match up with your post. Everybody can't be wrong, right!

Anyway, I think the 49ers would make sure the tampering rules are strictly enforced. If Oakland comes in, they will demand some compensation/ players, because why not? I think if Harbaugh accepts the Michigan offer, then SF will allow that free and clear, but would not allow him to go to another NFL team for free.

And really, is Harbaugh worth $10+ million/ year + full control + draft picks to Oakland, when they can get a pretty decent coach for $3-5M and have a GM fully concentrate on contract negotiations and roster adds?

this is the only board i post / read.

Years ago, i would read other boards but i've been too busy the last few years or possibly depressed.

With the holidays, my friend in the know, and plenty of time off, I thought i would give back to the board that gave me so much over the years.

I also thought that SF would probably help us here if theyre done with Harbaugh. Surely they know he's a pretty solid coach. I have to imagine they'd much rather see him out of the league (in college) vs across the bay in Oakland so it wouldn't surprise me that if everything comes through, that we find out SF helped us through all this

My guy did NOT know this info.  Gave me a "I'm suprised that i didn't hear this" ... he did reiterate that a direct 1-1 conversation took place and a verbal acceptance was given.

But, when i linked the info. it looks like that is late morning info. and my guy had a discussion first thing in the morning.  From a timing standpoint, I think it's entirely possible.

I'd say winning 9 routinely would be a huge improvement over the past 7 years, a period in which we reached 9 wins exactly once. But with Harbaugh and a, frankly, mediocre-to-bad Big 10 in which we play the two toughest games at home every other year, we are likely to reach/exceed 10 with some regularity.

Seriously?

Hiring Jim Harbaugh, I do expect nothing less than to have a Press Conference and not during halftime. He may be at the game sporting a "M" logo hat, but really? I expect a Huge Highly anticipated Press Conference for the announement of University of Michigans New Coach "Harbaugh". Anything less, is well way LESS!

All of the Michigan coaching hires have a Press Conference (especially a great hire like this one). A highly saught after Coach announcement during halftime (not happening). Its a rumor and not even a really good rumor at that. A better rumor would be the Sparty Mascot showing up in tears, even a Buckeye Mascot in tears. No way a hugh Michigan coaching hire is going to be Annouced as Michigans New Football Coach "Harbaugh" during halftime.

Harbaugh is coming home?

Go Blue!

Merry Christmas to mgobloggers! May you all have a safe and Happy Holiday Season!

EDGE OF THE INTERNET, Tony and Fernando who have different sources are saying it's all wrapped up. Signed today. Tuesday press conference, and basketball game introduction.

Not worth a thread, but worth a mention :)
