OK - this is kinda new Harbaugh info

Submitted by team126 on

Many people have been hitting F5 all morning so I spied on another site and found a comment like this:

Sources within Schembechler Hall said to look for a very special announcement at halftime of the Illinois BBall game on Dec. 30th.
Sounds about right (as a rumor)

Ya I agree with this sentiment. Thing is, everyone is pointing at Harbaugh without so much as a hint to who the true backup option may be. To me that suggests that Michigan knows they have Harbaugh. If they were seriously looking at other candidates right now we would be hearing something about it IMO. If the AD drops a huge surprise hire on this fan base next week there will be a lot of unhappy people.

I would hope the AD would be smart enough to not pull that kind of bait and switch in real-time.

If it's not Harbaugh, give us some time to process and vent before you parade the new guy in front of us.

Unless it's Saban or Stoops.  Then I think we can handle it.

Now what would be really awesome is if it was Urban Meyer and absolutely nobody knew anything about it, and he just showed up at the illinois game halftime in a Michigan hat to be announced as the new Michigan coach.  The crowd reaction would be all-time epic.

Similar info was also tweeted by a political reporter who said he had a source--the same source that predicted Brandon would be AD.

More general but also good info (SIAP)

Optimistic interview with Balas (whose optimism has been slow to develop).  Notes that even Tom Brady called JH to tell him to come back home.  Also notes that JH's wife would want to stay in AA a long time for stability with their children.  In addition, JH is very close to his father who is 75 and would like to spend more time with him (Jack would also move back to AA).

Optimistic article

Well, the presser would be sometime Tuesday afternoon and then Harbaugh would be introduced to the fans as the new head coach at halftime of the basketball game.  And then, because he's Jim Harbaugh and kind of fucking insane, he'll guarantee a win against OSU.

Like Tressel did.

EDIT: Or like he did, 30 years ago, I suppose.

The information that the OP mentions was alluded to on the Big House Blog yesterday, after a little research, but perhaps not surprisingly, the source was ThoseWhoStay7, now known as HeWhoWent7 after what appears to be a bit of scrape with whomever didn't want some information out in space. It has been posted in other places from the look of things as well.

Former Season …

I think it will be great if he comes but you get the feeling a lot of the fans will expect him to play for the national champinship in his first year.  Considering the players he has to work with especially at the quarterback slot if we go six and six in 2015 and make it to a bowl game I would be happy with that. At least it will show some improvement.

You're crazy. Minimum 8 win season should be the expectation. QB play wasn't great this year, either. We only lose 1 receiver, and he failed us in a lot of big moments this year. Running backs (plus Isaac) and older OLine return, Harris comes in as RS Fresh receiver, if Brian Cole sticks, he may see some time, still have Darboh, Chesson, Norfleet, Canteen, Butt. Hopefully our younger TEs and line have matured.

D returns a lot, as Ryan and Clark weren't spectacular this year, anyways. Older and healthy Peppers, and decent back 7 depth.

Add phenomenal coaching to that, and I think we have a fighting chance.

This feels like when you go to the doctor and he orders a blood test because he's 99% sure that you don't have cancer but your symptoms mean there's a 1% chance you do and so you have a to wait around for two weeks knowing you're getting a call but not really sure exactly when and so you stew in your own horrid thoughts and fears and you google your symptoms 10 times a day hoping to find something to make you feel better but you keep getting reminded it's never 100% until the damn doctor just calls and tells you.
