It says he is suspended because he wore shoulder pads in a photo during the dead period. This seems kind of stupid.
I'm beginning to think we're recruiting bad apples...

The /s really ruins any joke. Nothing kills a joke quicker than having to say it's a joke. But it's kinda necessary round these parts.

better to learn that breaking them bares consequences now then in the next four years...
I piss excellence and poop gold
The NCAA looks upon your rules and says, "damn, that's arbitrary, man..."
an even better MHSAA rule? In wrestling, we can't let our kids go to senior nationals because if they do, they are disqualified from doing a spring sport.

Seeing that rule and the football all-star game rule, why aren't there parents up in arms about that stuff? Wouldn't that be the last chance for your child to get scouted for a potential scholarship? I'd be severely pissed off if I had a kid good enough for a scholarship and they didn't have every opportunity to showcase their talent.
Go Blue!
I went to the CAP class this summer and the people running it were pretty adamant times about how those rules came from the Michigan coaches, and were only in place because of the majority of the Michigan coaches supporting them.
Can he get the suspension lifted by staring into the souls of the compliance team?
When I read the thread title I was hoping for something far more badass than that.
He did a bunch of awesome jump kicks in said shoulder pads.
I am glad it's lame I don't want his scholarship to be taken away lol
He proved to me his badassery simply by virtue of being named Mario Ojemudia. I hope it will be a name that strikes fear into opposing QBs for years to come.
In fairness to his game, he has reaffirmed that badassery each week.

But come on, against Brother Rice? Couldn't do it against Seaholm? Brother Rice is one of only two challenging teams Harrison can run into on their way to a repeat trophy. This is just sad.
Go Blue!
Ha its against Brother Rice, wow that sucks. That couldn't be more full of horseshit than I have ever seen. Knowing Rice, I wonder if there were other interests involved here.
"The unexamined life is not worth living." Socrates.
One would think Nike elite camp would be aware of the rule.
Kinda strange for penalty to occur during Harrison's second playoff game, for rule violation occurring in July
It's a Michigan rule, so I'm not surprised Nike didn't do any due diligence.
But I doubt it's a coincidence that someone e-mailed the picture to MHSAA Compliance this week.
Someone from Brother Rice has to have some influence with the MHSAA considering everyone else involved already served their suspension in August.
Word I got from people at FHH is that Brother Rice sent the info in to the MHSAA.
That's not surprising. Al Fracassa is sick of getting stuck by the pride of the public schools HHS year in and year out.
Go Blue!
IF true, I wonder if BR was expecting Mario to get suspended an entire game. I can see MHSAA seeing it for what it is, knowing they have to do something since it was brought to their attention, and kind of sticking it to BR by suspending him for just a half. (There, we punished him. Happy?)
Now Herrington gets to use this as a motivational tactic for his entire team (I doubt he'll pass on the opportunity, whether BR was behind this or not) and Mario gets unleashed on some poor sap in the 2nd half.
If that scenario is true, not well played by BR, in my opinion. Pure speculation, I know. But the timing does lend itself to such thoughts.
My view of Brother Rice sportsdom is quite low anyway, as their fans were complete jackasses at the state hockey championship game earlier this year, where *ahem* my alma mater beat them to take the state title.
Our recruits get suspended for wearing shoulder pads, other recruits get suspended for lacking self-control.
Yep, that's Simba made out of a pineapple.
No white after Labor Day and no shoulder pads after Memorial Day. Particularly with those jackets where you pull the sleeves up on your forearms. Way too Breakfast Club.
Glad the adults have such important things to do.
"Mattison must break you. Jake Ryan is his tool."
Was he the only kid that did it or are there other suspensions as well?
Apparently trhe MHSAA received pictures of a couple of other kids doing the same thing at the start of the season and they were suspended for preseason scrimmages, etc, but the MHSAA didn't receive word of Mario doing this until just this week

Haha wow not gonna lie, this is a pretty stupid reason to suspend someone. Why is that even a rule?
Class of 2008 and 2009
The interesting thing will be to see if Rosenberg can explain his way out of this one

Something shady is going on. Brother Rice trying to get an edge?
"Herrington questioned the timing of the suspension. He said an anonymous source informed MHSAA administrators of the violation by sending them a photo.
Herrington said MHSAA assistant director Nate Hampton told him that the MHSAA received photos, in August, of other players who violated this rule. Those suspensions were assessed then, and those players were prevented from participating in preseason scrimmages, Herrington said."

absolute garbage suspension. BR definitely behind it. i live about a mile away from harrison have been going to all home games for years and i'll be at this weeks game as well. it hurts to lose mario for a half but harrison is gonna roll BR anyway. second straight undefeated season and state championship for these kids. also on a side note john herrington is an absolute class act of a coach and runs a great program there.
This has BR written all over it. This is no doubt retaliation to the controversial fumble that was called at the end of the game in last year's playoffs. Always thought BR was a classy program.
Hoke obviously has no family values.
Galileo was also chastised.
Something illegal happened at a Nike-sponsored event on the University of Oregon campus? I am shocked, shocked!
Taking it one week at a time
