Ohio State to hire Schiano

Submitted by DCGrad on

According to Schefter, Schiano will be the associate head coach and DC.

Former Bucs HC Greg Schiano expected to accept Assoc HC/DC at Ohio State, per source; will replace former OSU DC Chris Ash, new Rutgers HC.

confuse me. He wouldn't have been a worse hire than our last two HCs and as an assistant is an absolute homerun hire. They killed it, IMO. We're looking at Lance Anderson so I'd give them a big edge in hiring a DC (or Co or whatever....he's a DC and will crush Florida/NJ recruiting).

The troll is strong in this thread. I count at least 5-7 unique troll users posting. Some openly trolling, others trying to act like Michigan fans. I'm looking at you "Couldn'tGoFor3". I guess OSU fans have a lot of free time on their hands since they aren't in the playoff. Must suck to see one of the most talented teams ever to wear those colors not even get a chance at the NC. All because they choked royally.

I know they stomped us this year, but we're not ready yet and I think that's pretty obvious to most Michigan fans. OSU on the other hand should be at the height of their dynasty under Meyer and they totally wasted this season. That really stings buckeye fans, which is why they're all hanging out here to make themselves feel better.

Ok /end rant.

they're like what, 50-4, over the last 4 years? including coming off a national title.  I'd say things are going pretty well down there.

their standards are so high now, any season that doesn't result in a national championship is going to be a disappointment.

key to happiness in life is low expectations.

Yep things are going great down there. But what's it all worth if you can't enjoy it? They watched their historically talented team struggle on offense all year. Played down to their opponents until it eventually came back to bite them. I'm guessing lots of OSU fans did not enjoy watching most of their games this year.
Having to be nervous while their team allowed an inferior opponent to hang around week after week.

50-4 and disappointed. 50-4 and choke artists. 50-4 and a wasted 2015. Not all that glitters is gold. And the weight of expectations is sometimes hard to handle.

This seems about right. Ohio State hires assholes. This is the only qualification to be a Buckeye. Be a complete an utter fool and they will give you a job, allow you to play fast and loose with the rules, and cover up the crimes of players.

In my opinion, nothing to see here. He is a big name hire, I'm not sure there weren't reasons for him not having a job for a couple years, and I'm still abundantly confident in Harbaugh and Michigan.

The real question is what will that guy do who has "Coach Schiano" as his usename?

Maybe Brian will let him change it. Extraordinary / unforeseen circumstances.

but many here would happily take Jim Leavitt, the guy who got fired because of physically attacking a player. I think if Jim Harbaugh had gone to OSU (purely hypothetical of course as he'd never do it) some guys here would call him overrated, say how glad they are because he would be exposed and fail there etc. etc/

And of course in the reverse OSU fans would have savagely ripped Urban Meyer, the health problems etc., if he had gone to Michigan just like we would have considered it a slam dunk hire.

The only consistent thing on sports forums is "our rivals suck".
