Ohio State Game Snowflakes Thread
What a game, gave my heart a workout but gritty, gutty game by both teams !!!
I've never watched "Rudy" because I can't stand notre dame.
I could make a blizzard myself with the amount of comments/concerns/take-aways regarding this game. I'll collect my thoughts and come back.
Good W though. GO BLUE!
Edit: Late addition after a couple hours of mulling a few things over. I'm nervous about this team, but elated after this win. Great and much needed win. We deserved it even though we were playing with fire there -keeping it a 4-5 point game and not digging down to take a lead as the minutes winded down. But, we got a lead and damn near had it until they tied it up. We need a different play other than a Burke fade away three beyond NBA range...in a TIE game; go to the f**king hoop and draw some contact/dish off for a better shot.
Anyway. I think teams across the country are coming into form (cough I guess not Florida tonight, though I guess one could say Arkansas is) and catching up to us in terms of playing very good basketball. We all thought we would kick Ohio's ass tonight in our own place but they've turned into a bit of a pretty good "team" themselves and playing good basketball (opposed to the Deshaun Thomas show). Sparty is as well. Wisconsin will suck to play against in the Kohl Center Saturday. Come March, many other teams are going to be on their A-game, as well. The end of outmatching everyone will be nearing an end, save for the Penn St.'s of the world.
What I'm getting at is that this Michigan team isn't as dominant as I once thought (no, not quite an overreaction to one game, it's been built over the past couple games against good competition). We have quite a few deficiencies. Against teams that can match-up to us and play good-great ball, wecan and will struggle. We struggled tonight quite a few times, for example. A few examplesof our struggles include lack of an offensive "threat" in the low block, youth in all areas, defense at times plays poorly, an offense that if not hitting threes with good efficiency can struggle to score, for a variety of reasons, and also THE FACT THAT EVERY TEAM THAT PLAYS US HAS A HIGH FG% AND WON"T MISS.
A needed win. And, ultimately, a win is a win.
We have a long view to worry about, though, and problems on defense and free throw shooting could bite us in March or April. Bite us hard.
But winning a tight, heavyweight battle punch-for-punch when the stakes are high will bite someone else in March. So this was good.
Servant. Pastor. Husband. Michigan fan in Duluth.
Heavyweight battle indeed.
That's why we need to show class and tip our hat to our opponent we just BEAT.
Just touch gloves, give a head nod and go celebrate. You don't gotta hug em, don't gotta like em.
Ohio played tough, Craft was a beast on defense. But THJ made shots, Burke was just as tough on defense and we WILLED our way to VICTORY.
It was a heavyweight fight, but we outlasted them in the end. We deserved to win and we did.
“True loyalty is that quality of service that grows under adversity and expands in defeat. Any street urchin can shout applause in victory, but it takes character to stand fast in defeat. One is noise — the other, loyalty.”
I hate Ohio...lived in both A2 and Columbus and Columbus is the worst place on earth. I bleed blue like the rest of you.
BUT, I think respect is what seperates our rivalry from Auburn/Alabama or Florida/FSU.
When I see that poisoning tree shit, it makes me fee good about my rivalry. Then laugh.
Act like you want, but I can give a head nod and keep it moving.
Edit: Also, when it comes to the rivalry...I LIKE that we're the better fanbase in terms of knowing how to act. We're also better in terms of everything else. I LIKE that the Ohio news comes to Ann Arbor and agrees with Michigan fans that a game in Ann Arbor is much better, Michigan fans aren't complete assclowns, and then they go report it back in Columbus in efforts to change (no impact). I LIKE that Ohio fans act like complete idiots and give us reasons to shake our heads and laugh. So I hate when Michigan fans act like Ohio fans...gives me less ammo for my high horse.

What an amazing game. Lots of highs and lows. In the end there was justice after all.
Go Blue
To many of these will be bad for my health.
If I say a duck can pull a truck, shut up and hook the sucka up!
Aaron Craft is the Tyler Ecker of basketball.
Great composure on Burke's part at the end there.
Go Blue!
Exactly. Did you see how wide open Manningham was on that last series???
Hail.
points... Need to be physical down low. Well fought though.
2013 will be the year.
We needed to go 2-2 in this 4 game stretch and we would have been under a lot of pressure if we lose the first two. I've got to say I'm pretty happy about the season split they way they played us.
Whatcha gonna do, little brother?
Fuck Ohio!!!!! POSBANGS!!!!!
Walmart Wolverines are OK in my book!
Instant classic! GO BLUE!
Try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value.
Dick Vitale is such a douche, he keeps sayin that they should have blown the whistle on the last play where we blocked the shot
Dick Vitale keeps talking about fucking Indiana when they are nowhere to be seen on the court!!!!
Abort, Retry, Fail?
But he also sounded like he thought the hammer by Craft on Robinson was a flagrant but thought it was a hard spot to call it. I think the no call at the end was a result of the decision not to call flagrant.
5 4 3 2 1 Touchdown!
Touchdown Billy Taylor!
Touchdown Billy Taylor!
It was a foul. Hardaway clearly got a lot of arm before he got ball. I don't know if I would call Vitale a douche over that play.
Karma's a bitch, though. Craft's 3 point heave with clearly no time left on the clock + flagrant foul on GRIII. I don't feel bad about the non-call at the end.
If I was an Ohio fan, I'd be pissed about the no call on Craft at the end. That said, the same guy caught two critical breaks from the officials that were directly responsible for the Buckeyes even having a final shot to win or tie the game in the first place. There's only so many gifts you can get from the officials. And besides, with 7 seconds left, that ball needs to get to Thomas for the final shot instead of Craft. They were just playing with fire there and they ended up getting burned.
"60 percent of the time.....it works every time."
Aaron Fucking Craft. Hate that guy - love the way he plays.
The Team, The Team, The Team.
Kid is a douche but he drive opponents nuts trying to go one on one with him. Plus we provides just enough offense to piss me off.
"Those who stay will be champions" -Bo
Kid is a douche
Exactly what has he ever done to make you call him a douche?

You continue to do thankless work on all the basketball threads. At least this guy is engaging in personal attacks on the other team instead of our players, unlike about 8 people in the game thread. To pick out just a few gems... (and admittedly, these are easily found thanks to moderation as trolling)
horford is soft gr3 chokes nik has gone away trey burke decides that this game is all about him proving OSU wrong
With about 5 minutes left in the second half.
Game's over.
soft as fuck
hey burke...wanna go to the NBA? no really its okay...because it seems as if your stock has fallen.
You know it's a game thread when someone pulls out "this team has no heart"
Laaaaaaaaazy What a terrible response to the Indiana game. This team has no heart.
To use an old soccer referee dictum, play the ball, not the man. It's ok to criticize someone's play, it's out of bounds to impute misplays to some kind of flaw in players' personal character. Claiming that players are lazy, entitled, or have no heart, particularly this team in the midst of a gutty, tough, grinding game against a rival, when you know nothing about them personally, is really bad form.
What an awesome win! Where are the muppets?
"Long time listener, first time caller."
Awesome.
Happy to have gotten beyond Aaron Craft on the schedule.
To quote a legendary announcer (speaking of Bobby Bowden)..."He is indeeeeed....crafty!"
5 4 3 2 1 Touchdown!
Touchdown Billy Taylor!
Touchdown Billy Taylor!
Snowflake: I can't wait until Morgan is healthy enough for us to run some minutes with both Morgan and McGary out there when we need size.

Fucking rebound bitches! Offensive and defensive glass!
Thank you for the win.
Abort, Retry, Fail?
This will shock you all, but the 11w troglodytes are blaming this on the refs. I lawled.
Former Buckeye Antonio Pittman on being a poster child for compliance: "This osu tattoo stuff is silly. Cats been getting hookups on tatts since back in '01."
Have you seen this board after a close road loss? We do the same thing, complain about the refs.
The referees cannot overcome the pressure a loud home court puts on them, in general. It's part of life. The sooner everybody understands that's just the way it is, and its not a big conspiracy, the better.
"The trouble with quotes on the internet, is that it is often difficult to discern whether or not they are genuine" --Abraham Lincoln
The refs missed a blatant offensive goaltending call (OSU player actually touched it twice above the cylinder) and a shot-clock violation on Craft's long three.
If anyone can come up with that many points the other way I'll hang up and listen.
It is spelled HOKEAMANIA. Our coach is an ass-kicking American citizen, not one of the Beatles, for Christ's sake!

WOOOOOOOO!
