Ohio on ESPNU All Access

Submitted by DrewandBlue on

Did anyone check out ESPNU All-Access "Ohio Training Days" Preseason Football?  I see Urban is attempting to embrace the rivalry.  There was a random guy on the practice field wearing a Blue shirt and Urban told one of his assistants to get the guy a white "Ohio State" t-shirt.  He said, "That’s the wrong color shirt on this field.  We don't wear Blue on this field!"

His comment didn't feel as sincere as Brady's hatred and avoidance of the color Red (Scarlett).  He was definitely showing off for the camera.  I was a bit annoyed when he told one of his assistants to tell the guy to change his shirt.  I highly doubt somebody on M Staff would wear red at practice.  I'm damn sure if they did, Brady would have no problem telling them to change.  He wouldn’t have an assistant coach tell him/her.

I’m curious to know if anyone else caught that…

I could give a shit what a guy like that has to say; or, if I'm DURP'd into exile. I come on here to read interesting content. If I find something not worth my while when browsing, I move on. I don't bash the OP to make them feel bad for posting something I don't agree with. Who am I to say if something is worth reading or not. I'm one opinion. Not everyone's opinion. After all, this is a blog or a forum to discuss Michigan. That's all I was doing. I get such a kick-out-of all the MGOBLOG snobs.

Man, Urban Meyer can't catch a break on the MGoBoard. He needs to make a large donation to charity and get ESPN to write about it so we can all come on here and say "well I bet like 90% of that went to charity employees."

Yea I watched it and noticed that part too. I dont know why that guy was wearing a royal blue shirt with buckeye shorts and a hat tho. Totally clashed.

My favorite part was their OC asking the qbs if they knew where their sternum was

Clearly, Urban has the practice field on lockdown when it comes to fashion.  That's trouble for us because there's a 100% correlation between random people wearing Blue shirts at OSU practices and us winning The Game.

Yea I can't stand this guy. That was staged bigger than shit. and all these Ohio fans around here forget all the shit they talked about this guy when FLorida was waxing that ass in the NC game. Now its Urban renewal and all this other B.S. I know Ohio will still be a decent team but ever since he came they are acting like Lebron " not 1, not 2, not 3" I can't wait to shut them up.

I didn't really care for the episode, I thought is was really focused on Urban, granted it is his first year at ohio but I thought the alabama training days was alot better.

I tried to keep an open mind and I thought UM came off alright. He seemed genuine except for that shirt bit. Like many have mentioned that was clearly staged.

Didn't watch it but they did the same slobber job to him in an article within ESPN magazine (hey, it was free). Only had a tiny, small print blurb from an SEC insider at the top of the 4th page stating what really happened as opposed to ESPN's Urban fairytale where he genuinely just cares SOOO much that it made him sick and he quit his job twice (after getting curb stomped by Saban and then half the SEC the next year) only to be re-born now as he hopped on the osu job less than a year later, having spent that valuable time with his family (traveling non-stop across the US doing game commentary for ESPN, meeting with current coaches to get his mojo back and, by his own admission, being home about "1-2 days a week"). So, they slobbed him and one small blurb in tiny print basically called him out for what he did: He bolted the big boy table for a conference where 10 wins a year will come in his sleep. I love the B10 but it's not the SEC when it comes to talent in regard to coaching, players or recruiting. (let us use "talent" for the recruiting aspect, lol)

So, no, didn't watch but I can imagine how the show went.

osu coach or not, good coach or not, the man is a fraud. He could coach EMU and I'd dislike him.

Since day 1 I have thought Urban didn't seem too passionate about his job...maybe that's how he's always appeared in front of the media but he just doesn't speak with any passion/enthusiasm...it's almost like he's faking it...because he knows he has to act a certain way.

How did Urban not confront the guy himself? The man was standing like 5 feet away from Urban when he was literally pointed out. The only thing he delegated was getting an asst. coach to go into the equipment room and retrieve a shirt. It's the middle of practice; do you really expect the head coach to walk all the way back to get the shirt himself?

Whether or not that part was scripted, I see no evidence either way. If it was scripted then that was a poor job by ESPN because it was only on-screen for like 8 seconds and there wasn't even any back-and-forth. I would hope that if ESPN were trying to hype up the rivalry they would put a little more effort into that segment, no?
