Oh, by the way, McGloin is a good QB

Submitted by Captain Obvious on

Boldin was back today.  He got yanked in the first half after not being able to get anything going and the score at 21-0 Northwestern.  McGloin came in and it's 28-21 PSU, with McGloin making some seriously good throws.

I agree. Was watching the PSU game, and was very surprised how well they did against "superior" competition.

No no, you're mistaken. I clearly recall that RichRod's horrible management style and GERG's ineptness made McGloin simply look good. blue^3, jmblue, and Hannibal assured me of this.

Actually, I have never typed the name 'McGloin.'  I never argued that he made one specific player look good, I always argued in terms of RR's impacts at a system or program level. Also, if you were to read my past posts, you will never find that I said RR would not win another game, or several games. And I never said he didn't have a potent offense, or that he was not a good offense coach. My main line of argument is that past mismanagement and lack of leadership as interrelated with the culture and institutions at UM have set processes in motion that will make for a difficult future in terms of success of the extent we expect at Michigan.

But go ahead and apply what you think my arguments have been in general to any specific instances. Feel free to make interpretations for me, put words in my mouth on any subject you deem pertinent. I I only ask that you think about my arguments before you proceed to speak for me. Thanks.

During the Michigan-PSU game, I was thinking that McGloin looked good, but I kind of chalked it up to me trying to comfort myself about how bad Michigan's defense looked. Good to know that it was at least a little of both.

I wonder why he failed to beat out a true freshman for the job.

Do you guys think it could have just been the stigma of his walk-on status?

That is impossible. He is only a walk on. It is not possible for him to do well against anyone but UM and he can't even beat out Bolden, a true freshman, as the starting QB. It must have been someone else, not McGloin

It's the offense that needs new blood.  At the end of the third quarter Persa was something like 11 of 15 passing, meanwhile his RBs were averaging about, oh, 3 YPC.  Wtf??   If he were allowed to chuck it 40 times NU puts this game away.  This was disgraceful.

I warned everyone about him before the PSU game.  I am bombarded with PSU Homer radio and lots of the radio guys familiar with the program thought he was going to be the starter.  Last week and this week aren't a fluke.  He was a good HS Qb.

If you're trying to use this to suggest that Michigan's defense isn't as bad as everyone says it is, maybe posting it the same day we gave up 65 points to Illinois isn't the best idea.

I love this team.  I love this win today.  But yes, our defense sucks - are you seriously disputing that?

45 points--overtime shouldn't count.

Actually, 28--turnovers in Michigan territory shouldn't count either.

And then, they may have allowed a couple of scores just to convince Illinois that this was, indeed, a shootout. You know, in order to inflate Denard's numbers.

So, a conservative estimate is they allowed 14 points to an Illinois team averaging 35 a game. I call that a success!

The point was "OMG Michigan gave up [       ] to this shitty slow white walkon scrub!!"

Alleged crap QB comes into a game with a half to go, down 21, and throws 4 touchdown passes and leads his team to victory.  Against a MUCH MUCH better defense.

The point is that he isn't Justin Siller, a 1-and-done QB that only shines when playing us.  He is an actual good QB.  He looked approximately 400 times better than Bolden.

So, yeah.  Point me to where I disputed that our defense sucks.  I'll be waiting right over here.

Your post suggests that people were overreacting about the state of Michigan's D after the Penn State game.

McGloin may in fact be a pretty decent QB.  Still a little soon to tell.  But if people weren't overreacting about how bad our D is, I don't understand the point of your post.  Are you suggesting that the people apopleptic about our D after the Penn State game were wrong, or not?
