OH Safety Jarrod Wilson visiting this weekend

Submitted by Speed Kills on

He was offered a couple days ago and says he will make an unofficial visit to Michigan this weekend. He's a true safety and has a very good sense for playing the ball in the air and handling his assignments. His HS teammate WR Corey Smith is expected to join him for the visit.

Wilson's HS coach is former Wolverine running back Ricky Powers. Great offer and it's always big to get these kids on campus early in the process.

"I should be going up there on Saturday to get a chance to hang around, I really just want to see how the defense is run and how things are on that side of the ball."

It's fantastic to see that this kid, Jarrod, is a TRUE safety... so, like, there is a good chance he stays a safety through college (where ever he chooses).

Yup yup! Good to hear it confirmed straight from Jarrod's mouth, and not just his teammate's thoughts... Some of these packaged deals don't end up being packaged together at the end, but these two guys seem pretty close.

Edit: Who negs this? How many times did we hear teammates say thinigs about each other and then it not materialize? A: Lots.

Nice to see a prospect excited about an offer and an unofficial visit. Just have gotten a little bummed with some if these kids who get a Michigan offer and their initial reaction is "what took you so long?". Does anyone know what other offers he has?

Just watched this guy's shortened highlight video on scoutingohio.com. Four plays, Four defensive touchdowns (3 INTs, 1 FR) all with returns between 60 and 85 yards. Looks like a playmaker.

I think Ricky Powers was a "true team player as he allowed Tyrone to get a few carries and did not complain" because if he didn't Tyrone was going to be getting those carries anyways.  No offense to Ricky, but all I seem to recall was alot of fumbles too... while T-Sweets I remember breaking long runs, bowling over people, and making Rose Bowl highlight films.  Go Blue!!

Seeing as how tOSU is going after the best defensive backs/safeties in florida/the nation i believe michigan has a very realistic shot at him.  I seriously doubt tOSU offers him and are not even finding the scholarships to offer some of the other top talent in Ohio as of yet ...see "Bam Bradley."  With the hire of stan drayton and stealing major players from the gators this past year they have a realistic shot at getting guys like deon bush, diggs out of florida and though he still could recieve an offer from tOSU i believe they are going after the best in the nation, not just ohio.  I think we have as good of a shot as anbody right now, maybe a little better than most but it is still early.  I think tOSU would go after Bam Bradley and devan bogard before Wilson though its just my opinion.

I hate that there are all these assumptions that if tOSU offers and Ohio kid, they automatically have a better shot at that kid than UM.  While that may be true now, it wasn't always.  We used to pluck 2 or 3 top 10 kids (who HAD tOSU offers) on a regular basis.  We need to get back to that, and I think it all starts with beating those crooks!

the pittsburgh pirates were good once too, but obviously not now.....things change and if that werent the case, id be married .. its simple the program has lost a lot of its luster since these kids were young, all they can remember is michigan getting hammered by not just ohio state but just about everybody.... its the same as asking a kid do you want to start for the pittsburgh pirates or do you want to start every 3rd game for the yankees???????

Looks like our resident anonymous cowards are back at it. The kind of people who make a post criticizing strangers behind an anonymous internet handle and then feel all big and tough afterward.

Get over it.  People neg for good reasons.  People neg for bad reasons.  People neg because it irritates people like you. (This is where I fall most of the time when it comes to negging Tom and Brian)  People will continue to neg from now until the arrows disappear.  Your smart ass comments about anonymous negs will do nothing to change that.

My name is Don Hammond and I live on Wilton Street on the west side of Ann Arbor. So who's anonymous now? What's your full name? What street do you live on? In what city?

You haven't explained, or justified, why anybody would neg TomVH for simply posting an interview with a potential recruit. Tom didn't offer his opinion on the recruit, or the coaching staff, or Obama's foreign policy, or whether scotch is better than vodka. He simply posted an interview. Negging him, or anybody, for that is asinine. I doubt whether Brian had that in mind when he instituted the whole negging thing to begin with.

If you really want to know why people neg Tom, look no further than your reaction in this thread.  If it irritates someone, people are going to continue to do it. Don, I'm sorry to say, you bite hook, line and sinker every time.  Honestly, I'm surprised  you of all people still give a flying fuck about random negs.  If you want to keep overreacting like this everytime someone negs Tom, go for it.

PS.  You have a nice website and I believe I know your daughter.

i dont think that anyone is being negative don, just real....i could sit here and lie say that weve won the national championship every year in the past decade and would that make u feel better??  but the reality is that things havent been that great and that is all these 16 and 17 year olds can remember, most probably cannot remember watching tim biakabutuka run all over tOSU, or A-train, or even that Tom Brady played for the Wolverines....so get over it and open ur eyes bro

it's just some good news, breathe. A very talented kid is coming to visit our campus this weekend. He'll get to see the magic with his own eyes. Let's talk about that -  all other stuff is petty. MGoPoints are trivial and only meant to weed out trolls. Drop the drama...

Here is about the only video of Jarrod Wilson not behind a paywall...seee yaaaa. Probably already posted or something..

would be nice to get these guys commited. We have Ricky Powers, which will only help are chances and they both want to play at the same school. So that eliminates osu.GO BLUE!!!

I know how good this kid is but how does anyone with good knowledge feel about Corey Smith I have never seen either in person and was wondering what you thought?

On a side note any new news between Michigan and Bam Bradley, I'm curious as to why everyone thinks we have such a good shot with this kid Bradley as well because everything I have read so far says he likes Michigan State more than us right now...not even bringing tOSU into that comparison.

As for my own personal information... thought i would let you know that I have heard from a strong source that Jordan Diamond is really enjoying his Ann Arbor trip so far and getting to know the team and some coaches well. I still do NOT expect an early commitment as I have explained earlier
