I thought the refs called it a bit in favor of the Cuse. Either way, the good guys win! Hail.
Officiating tonight: "It's what did Syracuse in, and thats' it"
They got a couple bad breaks. Whistles were erratic all night. Too bad I don't care.
If officiating is their argument, they've already lost.
If SU makes a few more shots, it's moot. If UM makes some free throws, it's moot. The loser (either way), only has themselves to blame. Anyone crying officiating on pretty much any game is just bitter.
Losers blame refs. Winners fuck the prom queen and go to the NC Game.
DON'T CARE FINAL FOUR WOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Final two. Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Poor guy has been up to his eyeballs in poopy diapers and baby bottles. Should he ask on Monday night about who Beilein went with as his starting pitcher, just say "Kate Upton."
I'll worry about the officating later, right now....
ya it was pretty terrible all night and at the end I remember feeling like we caught more lucky breaks than Cuse, but it definitely wasn't totally one sided
When Cuse had their run to get back in the game and tie it up there were a lot of calls that could've been called that weren't against them. So I don't wanna hear it. Fuck them and their stupid zone.
Who cares!!?? Screw them, we're playing for the national championship baby!!!!!
Tell them to fuck off and stop being bitter. We're playing for a title and they aren't, so HA!
It WAS horrendous! Syracuse was absolutely mugging us in the paint in the 2nd half and was getting away with slap after slap when Burke drove. Just make them watch itn again. A fairly called game and Michigan would've been in the bonus with about 10 minutes left.
jim boeheim being a dick in his press conference
is a dick, and Boeheim called him out.
just walked out of the presser.
It was the interviewer with the question that was being a dick, in my opinion, asking him if he was going to retire now after they lost.
I'm not watching the presser so I don't know how he worded it but there has been a lot of talk of him retiring so I,month sure how that is a wrong question.
For a guy with such a good image, I was surprised. Even threw in the s-word. About 15" in he acknowledged UM. Kind of a winer.
You don't need any evidence. Don't engage because you can't convince people when they think they've been screwed. Let them piss and moan and you enjoy our boys in Blue playing on Monday.
Whistles were weird - but I was glad to see that Syracuse players were very classy during the post game press conference. That definitely made me respect them.
Really bad calls on both sides and some not so bad ones...like ever other basketball game every played...tell them to get over it. If they actually watch the sport, then they know this already
your buddy is a sore loser, go blue ^^
Good Lord...People have blinders on.
Was there a bad call or two?! Yep. DId THJ get lucky at the end there and MCW unlucky? Probably. Shit happens though. Michigan wasn't doing themselves any favors either and nt playing particularly well at the end so 'Cuse was lucky in their own right we didn't "run away" with it. What did McGary do down low that was so bad?! Burke? The officiating was fine tonight.
THjr got mugged going to the rim just before the "chicken wing" call. He got slapped in the air twice and the zebras swallowed the whistle. The problem was the inconsistency and that probably hurt Cuse more than us. They seemed to let cuse get away with a lot and then switched to calling ticky tacky fouls in the final minute. Sort of weird.
Yea I'd agree with this. It did seem odd, and even in live time. I wouldn't have said nor do I still think 'Cuse got jobbed by any means. If it was a tie game for the whole way and then things happened to 'Cuse like some bad calls I could see some red flags being raised if I was an Orange fan. But things were getting/not getting called both ways so, can't really chalk a game like this up to officiating; easier said being on the winning team I suppose but I feel it an honest outlook.
Yeah... it was just weird... don't think it would've made a difference in the end though. Had all the BS Cuse was getting away with get called, we win by 20 points easily. They were mugging us in the paint all game long. Had NONE of the close fouls get called, Mcgary doesn't get in foul trouble and he dominates them in the post like he did all game till that 3rd foul.
but that doesn't sound like a best friend to me.
It is a fact that there has never been a good game called in the history of sports. It is also a fact that refs never favor the team that you root for. Complaining about the refs is as old as game.
After they go to the press, watch Burke away from the ball on in bounds plays.
Then your argument is over.
This. Good God was that ridiculous. There's no way they should've been getting away with any of the stuff they got away with on the press. That's the main reason the game was close in the first place.
Officiating was not great in either game but both games were good games. Michigan came out on top and now on to the finals....lets hope that game is better officiated.
But i'd go with:
"Suck it" w/ crotch chop
"Yes, but that's bc boeheim is a nazi"
"Scoreboard" even cutting them off mid-sentence
"Look u guys deserve to get fucked over after bernie fine, ok?"
The officiating was questionable at points for both sides. Overall however I think it favored Syracuse. For the most part I think it's the media trying to play up the calls at the end more than Syracuse.
in one of their runs trapping us where they hip checked the ball handler and it wasn't called. They abused us and got away with it.
Deal with it
Jim Boeheim being as poor of sport as he can be. Of course, the media will give him a pass on it.
It was a dumbass question and now an even bigger dumbass followup. "You don't wanna coach in the ACC".
This is why I never complain about officials. Sometimes you lose some, sometimes you win some. This was our night. I think we got some crucial calls going our way, however, I think Cuse got away with a couple walks. So it's all good.
I don't even care right now really. I've kept pinching myself since Trey's 3 against Kansas. Go Blue!!!
Boeheim coming off more human in his press conference, and Gregg Doyle getting snippy is always fun.
The Syracuse players in the postgame were class, not taking the bait from the reporters trying to get them to blame the loss on the officials.
Trische and one other player took the high road on those officiating questions, I thought that showed a lot of character on their parts, kudos to them.
For all the calls KU got over us! Oh well that's always the number one excuse. Blame the refs! I don't care even if Michigan had a bit of an advantage. There's been plenty of games this year where we were on the losing side of ref calls! It all balances out in the long run!
Eh. People are going to complain about stuff. We can't help it. Couldn't help it when Cuse was mugging our guys with no whistles, either, but that's how it goes.
You can't apologize for a win. Enjoy it. If others are unhappy, let them be; sometimes they have a right to be (Illinois 2000) and sometimes they don't (Joe Paterno).
Syracuse was absolutely mugging everyone the last 2-3 minutes and nothing was getting called. Cry me a river Syracuse
What about the no call where Hardaway was flat-out mugged going to the basket with a minute and change? Or the 234234 uncalled hipchecks? Refs didn't lose this game, Syracuse did.
Hardaway should have passes anyway. That upsets me most
Agreed. Two on one and the defender comes towards you....PASS THE BALL!
How was it not a flagrant 1 when he was grabbed in the face? That was unreal.
In fairness, I really don't think that he was trying to scrape McGary in the face; he was going for the ball as he was in the air, missed, and nailed McGary instead. Pretty obvious foul, but not something that is being actively discouraged by the rules.
But that's why I would call it flagrant 1. Incidental, but dangerous, fouls can fall in that category.
He sure grabbed his face pretty damn hard, and it wasn't like he was just doing a follow-through on a ball-swipe either.
There were a couple of calls that went Michigan's way at the end that could have gone either way, and that's what people will remember, but there were plenty of calls throughout the game that went Syracuse's way too.
To hell with ironing and refs. Perfect conclusion.
Looked at the numbers real quick - against tourney teams in the last month they average around 17 fouls per game (19 against Michigan). Against ranked teams it jumps a bit to 18-19, so they were called about their norm.
There are a lot of questions being asked about the officiating and Jim Boeheim is being hilariously sassy with his answers.

Spike got fouled on his first three but no call. Hardaway was fouled going to the rim and there no call. There were some bumps by Cuse that weren't called. It happens.
If we could make a fucking free throw, that game is over much, much sooner.
The reason Mitch McGary missed the two frees at the end AND the additional lane violation freethrow is HE CANNOT SEE OUT OF HIS EYES BECAUSE HE WAS PLAYING WITH TWO BROKEN CHEEKBONES AND A BROKEN NOSE. Dude looked like Rocky Balboa in the postgame interview.

History was written by Louis Elbel. All currently relevant history, anyway. Man, this is exciting.
and our 3 best shooters Burke-THJ-Nik shot a combined 17% and we missed several late FTs and they wanna blame the refs?
Hardaway was fouled when he had a chance to put us back up 8 late and the refs swallowed their whistle. This game might not have been as close if we get that foul call. The refs were meh in both directions.
It was not a well-officiated game, but both teams had their share of beefs.
I'm at the point in my fandom where officiating just about comes out even. If you follow a team for a long, long time, there are going to be games where you get hosed, and just about as many games where you're on the receiving end of some bad calls.
That's sports. It ended up in our favor tonight. Take the win, subs on Monday.
Woulda, shoulda, coulda. Syracuse shot badly......
The main arguement my buddy keeps giving me is that "when two guards who foul out who haven't fouled out in their entire careers do, something is not right. The refs are unmistakenbly awful". I see it as a bitter dramatization, but who cares.
I wish I could +100 this.
Was McGary. Who was bending them over and let em back in the game when he went out.
You're friends can cry all the way through Monday night.
Thought it was pretty even, although they definitely let an awful lot go. I felt this game was pretty physical.
Only truely horrible call was that foul on Burke.
I thought the officiating was awful and inconsistent in both games tonight. Anyone saying that the officiating favored Michigan clearly didn't see the five minutes or so where they let Syracuse turn the game into a street fight, which let them get back into the game. Pathetic.
So what team does your friends root for?
It was the timing of the bad calls that makes them think Syracuse got screwed. We got mugged in the paint off and on all night. Hardaway's block was definitely all ball. The 2 favorable calls we got were right towards the end of the game so they key on that since the game was close. In reality, there were bad calls all night and prior to those 2 late in the game that were in our favor, they were mostly going Syracuse's way.
It's very hard for a fan to see that. Happens to me all the time when Michigan loses. A lot of people when their team loses a close game they'll key in on 1 or 2 plays where they feel they got screwed by the refs and blame that for the loss.
Bitches gonna bitch.
Where someone (maybe Triche?) could have had a face mask called if it were football when McGary was on the base line.
If you watch the game again look at McGary and Morgan getting pulled away form under the basket by the Cruse players...that wasnt called all night. All in all it was a normal game, bad call and missed call both ways...at the end Michigan made more plays the Cruse end of story.
The refs didn't decide the game. We benefited from about three key calls late that could have gone either way, and we got all of them. But they also benefited from a) outrageous off-the-ball fouls when we were inbounding to break their press, b) Three Stooge-style pokes repeatedly in McGary's face, c) block on Hardaway was a foul, d) Hardaway's block was not a foul.
So, yeah, bad calls on both sides, and there's no way you can say the refs decided this game.
In the first half before a dunk.....
Also McGary got punched in the face with no call....
Officiating did play a slight factor. That wasn't a charge. That game should have gone to overtime. That being said, it wasn't the reason Syracuse lost. Syracuse lost because MCW and Southerland played like shit. The officiating didn't help, but it wasn't the reason they lost.
